Are loved ones coming against you with lies, or dredging up old sins from the distant past against you? Sins from before you were saved, or sins that they have said were forgiven? Or are they things they only think they know from the past, and have misunderstood and have misconceptions about you because of it? I've been through something similar, that nothing seemed to be able to make right. So I finally went through my bible to find scriptures that I felt would express my heart and help me pray about it. I offer this to you as an example. Not to be literally prayed, unless the exact same thing is true for you, but more as an example that God really does understand how we feel and what we're going through, and if we look, with His help, we can find scriptures to pray to help us and to heal our hearts as we wait patiently for our Lord to deliver us from the mess without trying to manipulate things or fix things ourselves.
Hear me, O God, as I voice my complaint; Hide me from the conspiracy of those who either make up or dredge up, evil about me. They sharpen their tongues like swords & aim their words like deadly arrows. They encourage each other in evil talk. (Ps 64:1–5)
All day long they twist my words; they are always plotting to harm me. (Ps 56:5)
O God, whom I praise, do not remain silent, for some of my children have opened their mouths against me; they have spoken against me with lying tongues and mistaken conclusions. With words of hatred and pain they surround me; they attack me without cause. In return for my love they accuse me, but I am a woman of prayer. They repay me evil for good, and hatred for my love. I am an object of scorn to them; when they see me, they shake their heads. But you, O Sovereign LORD, deal well with me for your name’s sake; out of the goodness of your love, deliver me. For I am poor and needy, and my heart is deeply wounded within me. Help me, O LORD my God; save me in accordance with your love. Let them know that it is your hand, that you, O LORD, have done it. They may curse, but you will bless; when they attack they will be put to shame. They will be wrapped in shame as in a cloak. (Ps 109:1–29)
If an enemy were insulting me, I could endure it; if a foe were raising himself against me, I could hide from him. But it is my own children, with whom I once enjoyed sweet love. But I call to God, and the LORD saves me. Evening, morning and noon I cry out in distress, & he hears my voice. He ransoms me unharmed from the battle waged against me, even though many oppose me. (Ps 55:12–18)
Record my lament; list my tears on your scroll— are they not in your record? Then they will turn back & be reconciled to You and me when I call for help. By this I will know that God is for me. In God, whose word I praise, in the LORD, whose word I praise—” (Ps 56:8–10)
Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing. (Luke 23:34)
Oh God, You know the burden of every heart, but as for this my burden, I would cast it on You, knowing You will give me rest—in quietness & confidence will be my strength, & I would leave everything in Your able hands. Father, You have made my lot secure & I will not be troubled, or afraid. I will praise the Lord my God, in anticipation of the deliverance which will surely come, as I take refuge in You. I look forward to the new song You will put in my mouth, a hymn of praise to my God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD. (Matthew 11:28; Isaiah 30:15; Psalm 16:5; John 14:27; Psalm 37:39–40; Psalm 40:1–3)
I would like to mention one thing here, just in case someone has a problem with it. God tells us not to add to His Word or to take anything from it. That does not mean that we can't do what I've done above so that we can pray it back to Him. What God is talking about when He says that is that we're not to do this and then try to tell or teach others that His Word means something other then what it says. We aren't to add our own words and make them or try to make them equal to scripture. Nor are we to remove any of His Words and try to insist that's what He really meant. It's another way of twisting His Word. That doesn't mean though that we can't do things like this so we can pray His Word back to Him. Nor does it mean that we can't take a scripture like, “For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love” (Ephesians 1:4) and in our own private reading, say in our minds, or even write it in a notebook so that it says: “For he chose me in him ” Or "He chose Cindy in Him", etc. It would be entirely wrong though if I were to turn around then and tell you that I was the only one that He had chosen! Do you see what I'm saying? So please know that it's perfectly ok to pray God's Word in this way and is not disobeying His law to not add or subtract from His Word.
