So, Ananias and Saphira were true believers , they were saved and they were punished for they sin, and this was also an example for the others to see how serious things are. That sin causes death, and that we should obey God with all our hearts. So these people are saved, right? They will spend eternity with the Lord, but they have lost some of the rewards they would have gain if they were honest, right? Exactly Eva! God often made examples of people and sin at the beginning of each age. I could be wrong but it sounds like maybe you got it Eva! LOL And just how could you be wrong???Thank you Cindy! I've been reflecting on the verses you recently posted on dying to self....that seems like such an impossible task. I did understand its not like lent where the Catholics give up gum or coffee for a month or some other material thing....not even some pleasure like movies or whatever.
It's really means self, to be so closely aligned with Jesus that 'self' has died. The first half seems like Heaven ( to be so close to Jesus) but it 'seems' impossible to die to self. I am thinking loving Jesus must have a big part in how to do it, like the way you said Paul lived ( it did not matter if he were in jail or a palace), paul's heart, mind and spirit was so focused on Jesus and spreading the gospel. It is impossible for us, but not for God thankfully. That's what He's helping us to do all through this life after we've been saved. Until finally, at the very end, He will finish our salvation by making us completely die to self and be just like our Lord Jesus, and that means our sin nature will finally be completely gone forever!8/31/16 read Mark 14 1-11 Jesus Anointed at Bethany
This is both a beautiful and extremely sad passage. It is the first time that it registered that they were at Simon the Leper. A question for Jesus is this the Leper He healed? I need to do a search, but today I am feeling so icky I may wait and hopefully can search tomorrow.
Anyway, a woman anointed Jesus with a very very expensive perfume that made some of the people there angry at her 'wasting' ( in their human thinking), money ( they claimed) could be spent on the poor.
An application for me, is to never think I can 'out mercy' Jesus. Furthermore, to ignore anyone who might say I am going overboard loving the Lord.
And then comes the very sad part about Judas.
I did have a question for the Lord about this. Did it have to be a human that betrayed you, couldn't it have been a demon instead? I know Jesus died for human sin, and not fallen angels, but this seems the most grievous thing to do. Yet, I suppose humans do what is basically similar often.
But how horrible it must have been to be Judas, to have walked and talked, been loved by Jesus face to face, and then betray Him for a pittance. Of course, the fallen angels even more so, as they were in Heaven with our Lord, and they too rebelled.
When I was young in the 60's to be a 'rebel' seemed glamorous, exciting, daring, thrill taking, wild, freedom etc.
Now it seems sad, sick, filled with pain.
I thank Jesus He pulled me away from the dark side.
I absolutely LOVE your application! That's so awesome I'm going to put it in my notes! (I always add that it's something you posted though). Thank you!
I'm sure that Judas realizes it now, but back then he was still in "rebel" mode, so it probably seemed exciting and daring etc. I won't answer the questions you asked the Lord because I know He will and you've already said what He told you to do to find the answer, so I'll just remind you to start your next session by asking Him about it again and then looking for His answers.

Thank you as always Cindy!! I sometimes can't believe how blessed I am to have you as a sister in Christ....Eva too :-)
Remind me if I put it off and forget to look up my question. I am still struggling with a cold, and a little down....I really haven't been for awhile.
Plus, I have to go watch my grandson for a few hours, because my granddaughter has to go the the High school to have her class photos taken ( school doesn't officially start until next week).
I am hoping I won't be totally worn out and will be able to work on this afternoon, but I slept most of yesterday afternoon, and I am feeling a bit worse than yesterday.
I don't want to forget, but I am feeling tired, weak, sneezing, wheezing, snuffy, sleepy....well you get the picture LOL I guess I have whined enough yes?

9/1/16 read Mark 13: 12-23
This is about the tribulation I am pretty sure, and mostly for the Jews.... but all of scripture, has meaning for all of us, and so does this.
I think some Christians throughout history have experienced intense dislike and hatred, and it is getting worse now.
It's bad enough when someone you don't know hates you and of course there has been family betrayal since Cain and Able....but this verse, makes me think, it will be the worst ever and is so sad:
12 “Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child. Children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death."
So much so ( this and many other terrible things) that Jesus goes on to say:
v.20 “If the Lord had not cut short those days, no one would survive. But for the sake of the elect, whom he has chosen, he has shortened them."
Then our Lord says: v. 23 "So be on your guard; I have told you everything ahead of time." And this is a good application that he mentioned already again.

I was thinking about what you said about dying to self, and Steven came to mind, how He saw Jesus and asked Him to forgive those stoning him to death. I was thinking that was being fairly aligned with the Lord. so I looked for Simon the leper and there were only 2 entries.
So here we go, I think the Lord is telling me Simon was a leper he healed and this man out of a grateful heart, had a meal or feast for Jesus and friends.

Amen. The problem is that too often we're only "on our guard" about the things we've put in a box and labeled "spiritual" and that's not what Jesus meant. We have to be on guard constantly and realize that everything relates to our "spiritual" lives, whether it's our job, our home, elections, the government, our relationships with others, everything.I was thinking about what you said about dying to self, and Steven came to mind, how He saw Jesus and asked Him to forgive those stoning him to death. So here we go, I think the Lord is telling me Simon was a leper he healed and this man out of a grateful heart, had a meal or feast for Jesus and friends. Yes!!!!!! Can you imagine how Simon the leper felt? Here, the Lord God was at his house, eating at his table, along with the famous Lazarus that He had raised from the dead! He must have had so many conflicting emotions. There were all the disciples, and the famous Lazarus and his family, and they were all in the home of an outcast!!!! A leper! Our precious Lord went to Simon's house to show him that he was not an outcast, but instead was privileged even above the pharisees and leaders of that time! Our Lord doesn't just heal our bodies, but heals our souls, minds, and emotions as well! There must have been a great deal of excitement and joy in that house then. We have such an amazing God!
Now, don't forget your second question! I want to quote what you said about it because you were very close to the answer already:

I am not sure about question #2 at all.
I know Jesus came to die for human sins and not fallen demonic angels. I have wondered tho if Judas might not have become demon possessed? I think He wanted Jesus to be King and overthrow the Romans. He may have even believed Jesus could, because Judas saw Jesus do all manner of miracles.
So I think Judas was extremely disappointed, and may have felt betrayed in some way....but haven't we all done that?
We want the Lord to do what we want, like He is our Servant, a powerful jinni in a bottle.
So Judas was hurt and extremely angry because of hurt, pride, feeling of betrayal maybe.....but to go to the step he did????People have betrayed one another in furry, and killed....but surely Judas must have known the love, the heart, the power of Jesus?
The strange thing is the Bible doesn't really say, if Judas actually took his so called grievance directly to Jesus and simply asked? I think some of the other apostles did, having a similar hope of overthrowing Romans.
I just am not getting a clear answer.
However, a lot of people at that time were demon possessed, and that I think could push a person to a horrible choice....more than horrible....the worst choice that was ever made.

9/2/16 Mark 13:24-31
I am not sure but I think v. 25 which says: 25 the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’ might happen during the tribulation and will be extremely frightening to those on earth at that time but I could be wrong it could be the end end, tho it seems like even tho stars are falling when the very end comes: Isaiah 34:4 says: "All the stars in the sky will be dissolved and the heavens rolled up like a scroll; all the starry host will fall like withered leaves from the vine, like shriveled figs from the fig tree." and Revelation 6 :14 says: The heavens receded like a scroll being rolled up
I am not sure but the passage in Mark does not say like Isaiah's passage that ALL the stars will be dissolved and the heavens rolled up like a scroll.....
but which ever it is it is bound to stop hearts that are not saved.
My application is to keep looking up for my Lord Jesus and fear not.
Micah 7:7 "Therefore I will look unto the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation.....

Once again, I do not have to look far for the application is already written out for me:
v. 33 Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come. v. 35 “Therefore keep watch because you do not know....
v. 37 "What I say to you, I say to everyone: ‘Watch!’”

9/4/16 Read Mark 15:1-15
There is a part of me that wants to run away like the disciples because of the hatred, cruelty, pain, and evil.
I know it also shows the greatest love in the world, where Jesus determines to endure all this to save those humans who will trust on this horrible sacrifice He must make in order to do so.
This passage says that Pilate, knew it was out of self-interest that the chief priests had handed Jesus over to him.
Self-interest has always been a major problem for me.
Even so Pilate wanted to satisfy the crowd...
Another major problem I have had all my life. So my application is to pray for help in putting to death or overcoming these evils....I am not sure that I will come close to 100 percent in this life, but I can be more aware and pray.

Now, don't forget your second question! I want to quote what you said about it because you were very close to the answer already:
I thought I'd quote this so we'd know which question you were talking about lolI am not sure about question #2 at all. Ok, for this question you need to check all the gospels that tell about this story and check them in context. That would be: Matthew 26:6–17; Mark 14:1–14; Luke 22:1–7; John 12:1–11, and John 13:21–30.
Note that God tells us that Judas was indeed possessed: “Then Satan entered Judas, called Iscariot, one of the Twelve.” (Luke 22:3) and “As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him. “What you are about to do, do quickly,” Jesus told him,” (John 13:27)
That alone tells us that he was never saved because Satan cannot possess someone who's saved. He can harass them and annoy them and do all the things he did to Job, but he cannot possess them. The Holy Spirit and Satan cannot both dwell within the same person. It sounds to me that in your compassionate heart, you're looking for a way to absolve Judas. I think we all do that to an extent because it's hard to believe that anyone would do what he did. We don't want to believe it because it shows not only how evil he was, but how evil we are as well. But, if you read the story in it's context, we see why Judas did it. It wasn't about Rome, it was about greed and money.
His temptation began when he felt that the woman wasted the perfume, because he wanted to be able to take some of the money it would have brought for himself. John's gospel fills in a lot of the blanks left in the others, and this is one of those instances. ““Why wasn’t this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year’s wages.” He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; as keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put into it.” (John 12:5–6) So his temptation to betray Jesus had nothing to do with some altruistic notions about saving Israel from the Romans or the Millennial Kingdom. He was one of those people that was obviously a great actor, as most had no idea he was any different than any of the other disciples. But Jesus knew. He warns us that there are many like Judas among us even today.
No demon could have been the one to betray Jesus, because in order to do so, it would have had to become human and there is no way that God would allow something like that to happen. Just think how much damage a human/demon could do, or Satan as a human could do! So the only way Satan or his demons could work, was to possess someone who was willing and cause them to betray Jesus, which is exactly what happened. Satan could not have simply become human for a few minutes (or however long it took) in order to pretend to be a human and betray Jesus. God does not allow either Satan or his demons to do that sort of thing. Think back to the OT: at no time do we hear of a demon becoming fully human or of them showing themselves as individuals to a human other than in cases of possession or harassment. But we frequently hear about God's angels interacting with humans by taking on a human form for a short time. I think the main reason it was a human though, was to show us just how evil we really are, because every sin that's shown in God's Word is a sin that we are all capable of, it's not just that one persons sin. God tells us in the NT that the old was written for our instruction, “Now these things occurred as examples to keep us from setting our hearts on evil things as they did.” (1 Corinthians 10:6) “These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the fulfillment of the ages has come. So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall!” (1 Corinthians 10:11–12) and the same can be said about the sins shown in the NT.
After re-reading all you said though, I think maybe I misunderstood your question. Because I think you might have been asking if Judas was possessed and that was easily answered. Forgive me if I misunderstood.
By the way, MacArthur has a great article here about Judas that I think you'd really enjoy: www.gty.org/resources/positions/P26/unmasking-the-betrayer 9/2/16 Mark 13:24-31
I am not sure but I think v. 25 which says: 25 the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’ might happen during the tribulation and will be extremely frightening to those on earth at that time but I could be wrong it could be the end end, tho it seems like even tho stars are falling when the very end comes: Isaiah 34:4 says: "All the stars in the sky will be dissolved and the heavens rolled up like a scroll; all the starry host will fall like withered leaves from the vine, like shriveled figs from the fig tree." and Revelation 6 :14 says: The heavens receded like a scroll being rolled up

but which ever it is it is bound to stop hearts that are not saved.
My application is to keep looking up for my Lord Jesus and fear not.
Micah 7:7 "Therefore I will look unto the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation..... yes, it's describing the second coming of Christ. By that time, the earth and even the heavens will be a complete mess, and almost unlivable for humans, so Jesus will have to remake much of it before He begins the Millennial Kingdom. of course that won't take long considering He made it all to start with in 6 days LOL9/3/16 Mark 14:32-35 The Day and Hour Unknown
Once again, I do not have to look far for the application is already written out for me:
v. 33 Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come. v. 35 “Therefore keep watch because you do not know....
v. 37 "What I say to you, I say to everyone: ‘Watch!’” what question did you ask the Lord?9/4/16 Read Mark 15:1-15
There is a part of me that wants to run away like the disciples because of the hatred, cruelty, pain, and evil.

Another major problem I have had all my life. So my application is to pray for help in putting to death or overcoming these evils....I am not sure that I will come close to 100 percent in this life, but I can be more aware and pray. Jesus came to literally save us from our selves. Self interest, selfishness is the very core of our sin nature, just as it was Satan's. None of us will completely overcome it before we get to heaven, but at that point, God will take care of the rest for us. That's exactly what I do, pray for His help, and for Him to point out to me whenever I start to react from my flesh instead of His Spirit, and try to stay aware of it constantly so I can take those bad thoughts captive. I discovered too that the bible calls our selfish thoughts and actions "worthless" or "worthless things". That really opened my eyes too! That's why I memorized: “Turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain. Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word.” (Psalm 119:36–37) to remind me.

I guess I also wonder when, if ever, selfishness watching becomes 'legalism? For example, if my clothes have become thread bare or no longer fit, is it selfish to buy new ( new to me from the thrift store or garage sale or a super sale like in Ross ( I bought 2 new bras yesterday). But also like buying the kefir grains to hopefully maybe lower pain meds and/or feel better so I can be able to stay awake to study God's word, or clean the house, work in the garden, and babysit again now the grand-kids are back etc.
Yesterday because I did get paid for cleaning and we went shopping, I 'splurged' buying 2 items, with the same hope in mind. I had asked the Lord to go shopping with me, but I did not yet give any earned money to His work, because, in order to do so, I have to ask hubby. He has the paypal account and has said, it really wouldn't work for both of us to be spending and buying on it....there is never much in it, but whatever there is... Plus I notice he was supporting a few Christian organizations the other day, so the timing did not seem right. Anyway you get my point, my buying all of that is still self-centered selfish and yet it prob. wouldn't do in a cool climate to go without clothes....but where is the line... or is it all still really selfish interests? I have never really earned much money and it usually has had to go to rent, etc. So this is a bit of a dilemma. where is the line or is there a line?

I think I missed your first answer or reply, I just saw it now.
The verse says not to worry, but I don't think that means clothes and food will drop from the sky like Manna. I am thinking we are not to worry or stress....having the basics to cover up and be modest, clean etc. but maybe not a coat of many colors that might cause envy and strife and worry.
I am still not recovering very well. I think I am getting better, and then within hours I am sneezing and coughing, very tired and its getting me down.
Yesterday, tho, I did finish reading page 2 of the Tribulation thread, but did not see ( not saying it wasn't there) any more to add to why Christians/church will not go thru the tribulation, other than what I already found so far.
I did actually ask Jesus about how could He forgive while enduring so much pain, cruelty, hatred etc. and the only thing I thought He responded was because of love.
These are pretty hard passages to go thru. I am 'almost' tempted to avoid Luke for awhile after finishing Mark.

9/6/16 mark 15:21:32 The Crucifixion of Jesus
I asked why and how did the writer know that Simon ( who was forced to help Jesus carry the cross) had 2 sons? I have yet to do a cross check but it seems like God honors some people in the Bible ( like even having their name be written in eternity). But as to how the names of his sons were known I do not know. V.31 Is basically a true statement. .....“He saved others,” they said, “but he can’t save himself! " Well Jesus could have saved Himself, but then He could not have saved us. For an application, like God gave credit to Simon, so should I give credit to those, I might not usually think of doing so.

9/7/16 mark 15:33-41 The Death of Jesus
The people hear Jesus cry out but some think He is calling for Elijah to come take Him down from the cross. That seems like a strange thing for them to think and/or think they heard even. I can imagine He was moments away from death ( by His choice) but it says Jesus cried out in a loud voice ( not a weak one they could not hear well). However, some heard what Jesus really said. They only application that seems to apply to me for today, is even when reading His Word, to be carefully, I really 'Hear' what He is really saying. There were two somewhat uplifting verses at the end:
v,39 "And when the centurion, who stood there in front of Jesus, saw how he died, he said, “Surely this man was the Son of God!” and v. 41 "In Galilee these women had followed him and cared for his needs. Many other women who had come up with him to Jerusalem were also there."

9/8/16 Mark 15:42-47 The Burial of Jesus
The fact that Joseph went boldly:
v. 43 Joseph of Arimathea, a prominent member of the Council, who was himself waiting for the kingdom of God, went boldly to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body."
Being bold is a kind of application, or at least, an example) ( unafraid) to me.
I am usually NOT bold, but it seems there are times when boldness is called for.
In this case, the only thing reaction to Joseph's bold request was that Pilate was surprised to hear that Jesus was already dead. Of course there is a part of me that thinks because Joseph of Arimathea, was a prominent member of the Council, boldness may have come easy for him....still, the idea that there is a time for boldness is a new thought.

Don't worry about doing the tribulation thread, we'll just continue from where I left off. In fact I already have as I could see it was too much for you guys.
Ok, your question was, when does watching for selfishness become legalism, or does it become legalistic. I suggested the verses from Matthew where Jesus tells us not to worry about the basics of life (which is what your example was about). If we realize that our sin nature tends to make us legalistic about things, and tends to cause us to become rooted in traditions and routines etc. or anything it can to get us away from the freedom that being in Christ brings us, we can then know when we're beginning to lean too much one way or the other. For example, I knew someone who did exactly that. She decided that spending money on anything other than absolute necessities was wrong. Sadly she had 5 children who suffered because of that. No toys, no new clothes, only hand me downs and stuff from thrift stores, and each was allowed on outfit for play, one for church, and one for school. No pricey food was bought, and never fixed so that it tasted or looked good. It was just something to keep their bodies going. Every penny she had went to the church. If they got gifts from other people, they were sold and the money given to the church. That's pretty obviously legalistic. She wasn't doing it because she loved the Lord, she was doing it to be "good". She saw it as her "duty". God does not tell us to live miserable lives here and now. He wants us to enjoy what He gives us, but He also wants us to be aware that others have less than we do, so that if we are in a position to help someone, that we will do so - whether it's with money, clothes, food, time, giving people a ride somewhere, cleaning their house for them, just being there for them when they need a shoulder to cry on or whatever.
We know that our sin nature makes us selfish as well as those other tendencies we just spoke of. We have to remember though that it's not the external things that the Lord is looking at, but rather, what's in our hearts. He isn't concerned about how many bras you have, or how many pairs of shoes or coats you have. He is concerned about what you would do if you met someone who had no shoes or no coat or no bra. He is concerned with whether you would love yourself more than them and keep your extra coats, or if you would love them enough to give one of your coats to them if they needed it. So when we get caught up in things that are outward, like how many of this or that we have or if we should buy something we need, that's becoming legalistic. If we need it, and we have the money, then of course we should buy it. Should you buy new or used? You should buy it in the way that would most please you and enable you to get the things you need. Let's say you saw a coat that you really wanted but you didn't buy it because you already had a coat and you felt it would be wrong to get another. (like that lady I told you about) But then you met a person who needed a coat, and now you don't have an extra one to give them. God wants us to enjoy the money He gives us and He wants us to use it responsibly. In other words, we should take care of our bills before we spend it on luxuries for ourselves, etc. Does that help?
Yes, that would be part of His answer, love! The other part of His answer would be "for the joy set before Him"!
For the answer to your question about Simon's sons, we have to use our own minds and think it through. Since we know that Mark knew Simon had two sons, and knew their names, and that he mentioned them by name, it stands to reason that they would have been known and held in high regard by both Mark and to the people Mark was writing to. If that's true, then it also stands to reason that Simon became a believer and so did his sons. I'll explain more in my next reply.I did a cross check and only Mark tells us the names of Simon's sons. Yes, on Mark mentions that in the gospels but it's not the only place you will find the names, or at least one of them. “Greet Rufus, chosen in the Lord, and his mother, who has been a mother to me, too.” (Romans 16:13) Seeing that Rufus is mentioned in Romans as a believer, and that it shows his mother also as a believer, indicates that our reasoning above was correct, and that this family was well known to other believers in Rome.
Excellent application!9/8/16 Mark 15:42-47 The Burial of Jesus
No, being bold doesn't mean that they aren't afraid. They would have to be insane not to be afraid! It just means that they acted even though they were afraid; that they didn't allow their fear to control them. That thought I'm sure is from the Holy Spirit, for we're told that it is the Holy Spirit who gives us this boldness. Notice how the apostles speak truthfully about their fears, and ask the Lord for boldness: “Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness.” (Acts 4:29) Then, in answer to their prayer the Holy Spirit gives them boldness: “After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.” (Acts 4:31) After this verse there are others that tell us that various apostles including Paul, spoke the Word of God boldly.
Hope you get to feeling better soon hon!

Thank you so much for the excellent help on what would be legalistic and not!!
I actually often like going to buy at thrift stores, because I can see if a certain item works well on me or not, plus, I think New England thriftiness is still with me.
But I was happy to buy new because the price was not bad, and they were the kind I liked and felt comfortable more importantly ( which is sometimes hard to find).
Leonard is more generous than I but really, if someone was in need, I do think I would want to help them.
Well thank you also about the tribulation thread. I also learned a lot just going over the first two pages again, but yes I was getting a bit stressed at this time ( babysitting again, cleaning, not feeling well etc.)
I actually may get to reread page three at some point, but thank you. I am also looking forward to moving on to see what you will explain next!!!

I actually may get to reread page three at some point, but thank you. I am also looking forward to moving on to see what you will explain next!!! No problem hon, I'm just sorry you were feeling stressed about it. During my study today I saw something that I thought would help you. I wish I could just call you and tell you about it instead of typing it out, but I know you don't like talking on the phone. So here goes: I'm in Acts 16 where the Holy Spirit prevents Paul and Silas from going to Asia to tell them about Jesus. Then Paul has a vision in Acts 16:10 that tells him to go to Macedonia. They go there and Lydia comes to salvation, and later when they're going back to talk to her and the other women some more, Paul casts a demon out of a girl and they wind up being beaten and thrown in prison. I was thinking about how I'd feel if it had been me instead of Paul. I think I would have been licking my wounds instead of praising God at that point, and wondering what I'd done wrong. As I thought that, it made me think about how you've been afraid that you'll misunderstand what the Lord's saying to you or worse, hear from Satan instead of the Lord. So I asked the Lord, "why didn't Paul worry about that? Why was he so sure that his vision was from You?"
He had not sought out the vision that told him to come here, and when it came he obeyed it immediately (Acts 16:10) and without hesitation. He never questioned if the vision was from God or not. He knew that no matter what happened - good or bad - that he was in the safest place possible, the center of God's will. Like Daniel & his friends. His conscience was clear because he knew God had cleansed him of all his sins, so his past no longer had any hold on him. His guilt & shame were washed away and without those, Satan had no hold on him! He wasn't living in unrepented sin, but was doing his best to obey the Lord, so again, there was no guilt or shame for Satan to work with. He tells us how he lived in 1 Corinthians 9:24–27, Philippians 3:13–14; Galatians 2:20, and Philippians 1:21. Paul lived for Christ. The goal of our salvation is Christlikeness, and the daily goal of our life is to be more & more like Christ. When our hearts desire is to please God, Satan and his demons have no hold on us and we aren't tempted by his voice but only listen to the Lord. Jesus tells us in John 10:4–5. “When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice.””
Notice I said there was no guilt or shame for Satan to work with. We know we are sinners, Paul knew that very well too. Like Paul, we know we sin every day, and we hate it. Remember what Paul said about sin in his life in Romans 7? I love how he finishes that section: “What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God—through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in the sinful nature a slave to the law of sin.” (Romans 7:24–25) We can all relate to feeling wretched due to our sins. But if Paul felt wretched because of his sins, then how come there was no shame or guilt for Satan to use against him? Because while Paul knew he sinned daily, He also knew that Jesus was greater than His sins, greater than all the sins committed in the whole world even! Knowing that filled him with so much joy he could burst! Just think of the sins he'd committed, he was a murderer of the Lord's own children! Plus he had all the other "regular sins" we all have to deal with constantly. Can you imagine how he must have felt when Jesus first revealed Himself to him and he realized that Jesus was in fact alive and was God???? I imagine he must have felt fear in the presence of Jesus, and horror at what he'd done, and was on his way to do more of. It reminds me of a parable Jesus told, and I wonder if He was thinking of Paul when he told it, even though that was still years away: ““Two men owed money to a certain moneylender. One owed him five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. Neither of them had the money to pay him back, so he canceled the debts of both. Now which of them will love him more?”” “Simon replied, “I suppose the one who had the bigger debt canceled.” “You have judged correctly,” Jesus said. Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—for she loved much. But he who has been forgiven little loves little.”” (Luke 7:41–47) As Paul looked at our Lord, he must have realized that there was no judgment in His eyes, only love and that must have really broken him. I know it would have broken me. For Paul was forgiven much, and therefore he loved much.
Really, we're all like Paul. Some don't realize how much they've been forgiven until they've been saved quite awhile and grown so that they begin to realize just how sinful they are. Others, like Paul, realize it right away. After all, Paul knew the law like the back of his hand. Paul realized that the gift of salvation included not just the forgiveness of our sins, but that it also washed away all guilt and shame. He knew that as long as he was doing his best to obey the Lord, that he had nothing to worry about. He could not be deceived by Satan, because he was much to involved in getting to know the Lord better and obeying Him. He wasn't interested in what Satan had to offer. He'd been there, done that. All he wanted was Jesus and to stay close to Him.
Barbara, I've heard you say the same thing...that all you want is Jesus and to stay close to Him. God is not going to allow Satan to deceive you anymore than Satan could deceive Paul. Yes, like Paul, you were deceived before, but again like Paul, that is in your past, not your present. And what does Paul remind us and I'm sure he reminded himself this as well - that we're to forget the past, not dwell on it, and not worry about it happening in the present. You are in God's hand and in the center of His Will. There is no safer place you could possibly be - no matter what happens to you. Therefore, like Paul you can know that you will not follow a strangers voice, but only the Lord's voice. You would run away from anything Satan tried to tell you anyway, and God's not going to let him or his demons bother you like that any more. You confessed and repented of you sin. Now it's time to let it go and not allow Satan to use your post as a way to prevent you from being closer to your Lord and Savior. Instead you need to reflect on and immerse yourself in what Jesus has done for you. He tells you in John 15:3 "You are already clean because of the Word I have spoken to you. " Notice He does not say "almost clean" or that you're clean "unless" or "if" etc. God does not see you as someone who is trying to be good or trying to please Him. He sees you exactly how He sees Jesus: pure, holy, and without any blemish! That's how the Father sees you, me and everyone who is saved! How amazing is that????
There's much more and I could continue, but I'm just in too much pain to do more. But if you reflect on all this and read His Word, like the verses I've mentioned, I'm sure you'll see even more yourself. I hope this helps some, and if you want, we can discuss it more.

Hey guys :)
I have some news. I was thinking and praying about this for a long time. I will leave Rhodes and move to north Greece to try and get a better job. On Friday the 30th of September I will leave this store. I asked if I can move to a store in North Greece and I am waiting for an answer. Also I am discussing with other comnpanies also. I am not sure if this store is not working properly or the company. So if they accept me from another one, I would prefer this. I spend 1/3 and some days more of my day at work, so at least I would like to be happy. I know that I wont be able to find a perfect environment in this world, but I would like something better and healthier. So I am leaving from here. In this small island there are not much companies to try for a change. Its a huge step I need you to pray for me :) I am sure God will lead me to the best option :) Also, there are many more Christians there and churches :) So I will try
On our study I am on Acts 13 and I am moving to Acts 14. I will come back with comments on this.

Thank you so much Cindy!
I was reminded of you when you posted what Paul said:
I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; 24 but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body. 25 Convinced of this, I know that I will remain, and I will continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith" I will reflect some more on what you wrote, but again thank you!

9/10/16 Read Mark: 16:1-8 Jesus Has Risen v.3 sort of reminded me of an application.....not to 'worry' so much about anything but rather pray and talk to the Lord.... Because the woman said: “Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?” However, the next verse says: v.4 "But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away"
This is an ongoing example to me, that God already knows my needs, and has already provided for them... ( unless, there is a lesson or reason, not to provide at such and such a time).
I know we once talked about something similar and of course I have forgotten what you said, because after v. 8 it says:
[The earliest manuscripts and some other ancient witnesses do not have verses 9–20.]
So I am not sure, if I should read, comment and or find an application etc.?

Eva: Do you have enough money saved to make the change...rent, electric etc.? Do you know anyone there, that you might stay with for a short time? Let us know what your company says about transferring you. Have you told your parents and what do they say?
I will pray for you of course.

Well I decided to read the verses anyway.... 9/10/16 Mark 16: 9-14
v.14 says: "he rebuked them for their lack of faith and their stubborn refusal to believe those who had seen him after he had risen."
Certainly I can see an application to check my lack of faith and stubbornness when I read in Scripture anything that at first glance seems to fanciful because I know with God all things are possible and my mind is limited.
I am thinking it was not that Jesus came back from the dead, that they found hard to believe, because they knew of other cases and had seen Jesus raise others. But perhaps they thought someone ( a prophet etc.) had to do the raising, but they knew of no one who could raise the Lord?
Tho it says these verses are not in the earliest manuscripts, I did see some of it in Luke.

9/11/19 Mark 16:15-20
V.15 reminds me of after Noah's flood, God wanted people to spread out over all the earth instead they all settled in Babble). v.15 "15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation."
There have certainly been Christians who have done so. I don't think, God means every Christian must be a missionary to all the world. However, it almost seems like a part of our sin nature to want to all settle in one place, maybe that's why so many folks like the cities ( I do not like big cities).
Anyway, it is not a sin to want to live here or there ( unless God calls us somewhere and we do not go). and when the chance comes up where ever I am... application for me.... I can spread or tell, of the 'good news' about Jesus.
The next verse are often terribly misunderstood, or misused.

Yes to the third, I don't think I have missed praying before reading. Whether it's knowing I will be asked about it LOL or it's becoming a habit now....or a combo of both, I am happy you are asking, because I am sure it will become a habit, if not already so. I have recently asked Jesus to be with me, when Devon and sometimes Vanessa tell me something or ask.....but this is not yet a true habit that is automatic, and I really want it to be so. I have on occasion done an 'insurance policy'prayer.....Jesus if I forget in the heat of the moment to ask you to be with me, guide me, my feelings etc etc when talking to grandchildren ( everybody really) would you please help me anyway. However, I want to ask every time and be more specific.
The first question or reminder you so kindly asked me, is still a little more troubling....however, I found it hard to ask questions about the Lord's torture, and death, so I really didn't ask much or even think to.

9/12/16 John 1:1-5
After I read John, I will go back to Luke, I just really really love John.
These first 5 verses are so beautiful and the very first one tells me why studying scripture, the Bible is so important if I want to know the Lord Jesus better! And thus is an application for me to do so!
v.1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."(Well. v. 14 tells us for sure, for sure, that Jesus is the Word) :-) so skipping ahead seems to be the order of my day LOL
Not only is Jesus the Word, but v. 3 tells me that He made everything:
v.3 " Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made."
I take note that it does NOT say, everything was made by billions and billions of years, and chance, a comic accident.
Yet another application for me is when I am fearful, overwhelmed by evil ( mine, other people, or fallen angels) I can remember this verse and take comfort: V.5 5 "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it."
