What I really don't get is why no one is posting in the Testimonies And Miracles forum. I've literally begged people to, but there's still hardly anything. maybe it's because no one's read what I posted in there even... I don't know. I even posted a new thread saying one reason why folks should share their testimonies that I copied from a commentary about Psalm 18:
This psalm obviously is based on an experience of David’s that was deeply meaningful to him. As he communicates what he has learned about God in that experience it reminds us that we too have the same responsibility to communicate. The most convincing evidence an unbelieving world can hear today is the evidence of personal experience. When the Christian declares what he has learned about God from the experiences of answered prayer, deliverance from trouble, supernatural strength in a crisis, or the simple consciousness of the presence of God, he has declared the most powerful witness he could share. The teacher's Bible commentary. That was, as I said, just one reason. I've shared elsewhere that sharing our testimonies of what God's done in our lives helps every single Christian that reads them. it gives us hope; it encourages us; it strengthens our faith, and helps us when God seems silent, to wait on Him. I don't know a single Christian that doesn't need strengthening, encouragement or hope, do you? Besides that, I know that many folks get very unsure of themselves when faced with the whole idea of "witnessing" to someone. What we don't realize is that the very best witness we can ever give is sharing what God's been doing for us personally.
Over and over in the Bible we're told to talk about what God's done in our lives, to tell others about it, our children, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and loved ones. We're warned that if we don't, we'll tend for forget about them, and won't have the encouragement from them when we need it the most. Not to mention that others won't have it either, or that we'll be sinning since we're not obeying God by speaking about it frequently. Sharing what He's done in our lives, shows that we're thankful, and is part of praising Him too. It shows others that He really does interact with people and help them; that He's not some distant, uncaring God. Another commentary has this to say about this subject: "Each work that He does should encourage you to trust Him to help you solve the next problem. Keep a long memory for His mercies and a short one for your failures." God doesn't tell us to do this because He's some kind of ego maniac, but because it will help us, our brothers and sisters in Christ, and even unbelievers.
I love hearing or reading what God's done in someone elses life, don't you? And if you do, shouldn't you also share at least some of the things He's done in your life? I was totally shocked on our old site when someone said they'd never seen or experienced a miracle in their whole life. I couldn't believe it. It made me realize though that we have to look for them and that the more we acknowledge what God's done in our life, the more often we'll see what He does in the future. I also noticed that the person who said that, didn't read any of the testimonies of miracles in that thread - theirs was one of the first posts and they never returned to the thread. (remember our old board showed who'd viewed a thread and when they'd viewed it last) I felt bad about that because I have a feeling that if they had read it, they'd have realized that God had in fact done miracles in their life, but that they just hadn't realized it before. I loved that old thread and would give anything if I still had a copy of it; it was several pages long and 90% of the posts were either mine or Debi's (AZfreebird as she was known then). Sadly, we both stopped posting our stories, not because God hadn't done more for us, but because it was getting embarrassing that no one else was posting anything. Just like in the forum now, which is why I haven't posted any more there either. What's the point if people aren't going to share, or even acknowledge it when someone else shares? So come on folks, let's share what God's done for us, ok???
Maybe people don't understand the word, "testimony".... all it means is to tell about something that happened to you, that's all. Or maybe the word "miracle" scares people and they think they haven't experienced one that's spectacular enough to share. How spectacular it is doesn't matter one little bit! Honestly, miracles are only as spectacular as we think they are, and to me, the simplest one is amazingly spectacular just because God did it because He loves us. Really, the Testimonies And Miracles forum is simply a place to brag about God and what He's done. If you've been saved, then you have a testimony. It doesn't matter if it happened when you were a child or an adult or how mundane everything about it may have seemed at the time. It's spectacular not because of the events or feelings or the person/people involved, but because of what God did when He saved you. The same is true of everything He's done in your life. If you or a loved one has had a baby, that's a miracle! Are you aware of any prayer that God's answered? That's a testimony and a miracle. Miracles happen every day, but our eyes must be open to things of the Spirit to see them. The more we share, the more others will recognize them in their own life, so come on folks, share!!!!!
