"Charles Haddon (C.H.) Spurgeon (19 June 1834 -- 31 January 1892) was a British Particular Baptist preacher. Spurgeon remains highly influential among Christians of different denominations, among whom he is known as the "Prince of Preachers". He was a strong figure in the Reformed Baptist tradition, defending the Church in agreement with the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith understanding, and opposing the liberal and pragmatic theological tendencies in the Church of his day.

I enjoyed watching the movie about Charles Spurgeon. I had heard of him before but have not read any of the books that he wrote, instead I have books written by Thomas Watson and William Gurnall. He had a large library of books that he read, interesting that back then he read Pilgrims Progress, as so many people now days read that book also.

This film is very moving. And I have only watched the first twenty minutes! I thought CH Spurgeon lived about 50 years later. I think his teaching had a lot to do with the revivals of the early 20th century.

I presently have 10 volumes of Charles Spurgeon's sermons and some single books, and over the years have read a complete bio etc. I really do think he was great.
