Obama wins critical backing on Iran deal, virtually ensuring survival in Congress
September 02, 2015 FoxNews
The Obama administration now appears to have enough support in Congress to stave off Republican efforts to reject the president's controversial Iran nuclear deal, after a retiring Maryland Democratic senator came out Wednesday morning in favor of the pact.
Sen. Barbara Mikulski, D-Md., announced her support for the deal as Secretary of State John Kerry delivered a lengthy and detailed address in Philadelphia defending the accord.
In his speech, Kerry disputed what he called "false information" circulating on the deal. He said, contrary to the views of many critics, that the deal provides "access" to keep Iran in check, preserves "every option" to respond if Iran balks, and has elements that will last "for the lifetime of Iran's nuclear program."
"President Obama and I are convinced beyond any reasonable doubt that the framework that we have put forward will get the job done," Kerry said.
But, with Mikulski's endorsement locked down, the speech served more as a public reminder of the administration's stance than a last-minute appeal for support.

White House 'Encouraged' by Support for Iran Deal
By Ben Ariel 9/3/2015
The White House on Wednesday said it was “encouraged” by growing support in the Senate for the Iran nuclear agreement, while stressing it would keep working with lawmakers to secure as much backing as possible.
"We are encouraged by the latest tally," White House spokesman Josh Earnest said, according to Reuters.
"When the stakes are this high, every vote is important," he added.
Earnest was speaking hours after President Barack Obama secured the necessary number of votes in Congress to ensure the passage of the Iran nuclear deal.
Democratic Senator Barbara Mikulski of Maryland became the 34th senator to declare her support Wednesday, saying that in her view the deal was the best way to prevent Iran obtaining nuclear weapons.

Why are Democrats Willing to Strengthen Iran and Hurt Israel?
By Karin McQuillan September 6, 2015
...Democrats in Congress are willing to betray their country rather than stand up to a rogue President. What is more important to the liberal politicians? The favors and threats that we know have been emanating from the White House, or decades of bi-partisan support for our national security? Easy answer for these career politicians: first their careers, then their perks, then their Democratic Party. American national interest is no longer on the list.
At least President Obama is betraying our country out of sincerely held beliefs that allow him to gloss over the doom he is bringing down on the world by giving birth to a newly powerful and resurgent Iran.
Our President has a lifelong affection and affinity for Islam, the religion of his father and his step-father, and of the country where he was raised as a child.
Obama also has his own version of American history, in which we are not a Judeo-Christian nation, not exceptional, have many reasons for remorse and few for pride. These are the values that led him to his dream of a Middle East where Iran, not America and not Israel, is the dominant military power.
Given his own radical leftist upbringing, it is not surprising that President Obama does not see radical Islam as a national security threat to America. For President Obama, radical Islam is not a monstrous scourge on the earth, but the outcry of impoverished Moslems who have been treated badly by the West. He uses Western colonialism and poverty as an excuse for ISIS and Iran, and says we have to address their grievances.
“The Muslim world has suffered historical grievances,” Obama…asserted while hosting his “Summit on Countering Violent Extremism.” He blamed the rash of global terrorism in part on “a history of colonialism” in the Mideast, Africa and South Asia.
Until these “economic and political grievances” are addressed — “not as a matter of military affairs” but by changing out “corrupt” regimes that “suppress Islam” and by funding more foreign jobs programs — terrorist attacks will continue to plague the West, he said.”

How the GOP Pretends Not to Authorize Obama’s Agenda
by Andrew C. McCarthy September 8, 2015
In my weekend column I offered a concrete plan to undermine President Obama’s atrocious Iran deal. It is an easy one, because all that the Republican-controlled Congress has to do, if it really wants to derail this thing, is follow the law that they wrote and Obama signed, the Corker law — the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act of 2015, sometimes also known as “Corker-Cardin,” after Senate sponsors Bob Corker (R., Tenn.) and Ben Cardin (D., Md.).
Sadly, in another iteration of the anger that is the wind beneath Donald Trump’s wings, many readers insist that GOP leadership has no intention to block Obama on Iran. If that is so, it is passing strange. The national-security threat here is grave. Plus, how much credibility can Republicans have (maybe I should just end the sentence there) in complaining about Obama’s disregard of federal law if they won’t even follow the law they themselves enacted just four months ago?
In my column I demonstrate that Obama has failed to comply with the crystal-clear conditions spelled out in the Corker law. This is indisputable. “Side deals” that the statute explicitly requires to be disclosed to Congress — involving, for example, IAEA inspection terms and Iran’s prior nuclear work — have been withheld. Moreover, not addressed in my column is yet another alarming side deal Obama has refused to disclose: one that shows the president is deceiving the public when he preposterously claims that sanctions will “snap back” if Iran is caught cheating. (I’ll have more to say about this in another post. For now, see this important Real Clear World report, particularly the subsection “Fallacious ‘Snapback’ Sanctions.”)

Obama: Vote on Iran Deal a 'Victory for Diplomacy'
By Ben Ariel 9/11/2015
President Barack Obama hailed a Congressional vote allowing a nuclear deal with Iran to go ahead Thursday, saying work would now shift to implementing and verifying the accord.
"This vote is a victory for diplomacy, for American national security, and for the safety and security of the world," Obama said in a written statement, according to the AFP news agency.
The comments came shortly after senators fell two votes shy of the 60 needed to advance a resolution disapproving of the international accord, meaning the legislation aimed at sabotaging the deal is essentially dead. ...
"I am heartened that so many Senators judged this deal on the merits, and am gratified by the strong support of lawmakers and citizens alike," he said, according to AFP.
"We will turn to the critical work of implementing and verifying this deal so that Iran cannot pursue a nuclear weapon."

Oh I agree it will be a great victory.......for Iran!! Yes Obama is a Muslim and he is helping spread Islam to conquer the whole world. Muslims need to be truthful to other muslims but not to the infidels.

Democrats Save Iran Deal Again; Will Third Time Be the Charm?
By Nitsan Keidar 9/16/2015
Democrats in the US Senate on Tuesday were able to use their minority to thwart a second Republican attempt to block the Iran nuclear deal, after doing so previously last Thursday.
Republicans fell just short of the 60 votes needed to advance a bill of disapproval of the deal, with the total being 56-42. Republican presidential candidates Rand Paul and Lindsey Graham did not take part in the vote, causing the change in totals from last week's 58-42.
Only four Democrats broke ranks and again backed the vote against the Iran deal; they were Senators Chuck Schumer, Robert Menendez, Ben Cardin and Joe Manchin.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) had called the vote, and warned that if it did not pass again - as indeed happened - he would call a third vote this week, likely on Thursday.
However, the third vote is to have a caveat - McConnell promised to add conditions to make the lack of scope in the deal more apparent and make Democratic opposition more unpopular.
