OH OH Yoav Gallant's words to IDF troops stationed in the north of Israel came as fears of a boots-on-the-ground invasion of Lebanon to fight Hezbollah continue to rise on Monday. Israel’s Defence Minister Yoav Gallant signalled that IDF still plans to move its troops into Lebanon, telling the army, “we will use all of our capabilities — including you.” "That is what we will do, and we will deploy whatever is needed — you, other forces, from the air, from the sea, and from the land," he told the soldiers deployed to the north of Israel on Monday, further sparking fears of a ground invasion all-out war with Hezbollah. Meanwhile, the first apparent Israeli airstrike on central Beirut in nearly a year of conflict damaged an apartment building early on Monday, killing at least one person and wounding 16. An official with the Lebanese Civil Defence said the person killed was a member of the al-Jamaa al-Islamiya or the Islamic Group — a Sunni political and militant group that is allied with Hezbollah. The group is not known to have played any meaningful role in the current conflict between Israel and Hezbollah. www.euronews.com/2024/09/30/israeli-airstrike-hits-central-beirut-for-the-first-time-in-nearly-a-year-of-conflict

You kinda knew this going happen EU calls on Israel and Hezbollah to show restraint in 'moment of truth' for Lebanon The bloc's warning comes amid signs Israel is ramping up its offensive with a land incursion into Lebanon. The European Union's foreign ministers have called for an "immediate ceasefire" between Hezbollah and Israel amid reports Israel has launched small raids into Lebanon ahead of an imminent ground invasion. "The sovereignty of both Israel and Lebanon has to be guaranteed and any further military intervention would dramatically aggravate the situation and has to be avoided," the EU's top diplomat, Josep Borrell, said in a statement following emergency talks between the bloc's foreign ministers. "We are very much concerned about the risk of this further escalation of the conflict across the region, and urge all parties in the region to show restraint in the interest of de-escalation." "Arms should now be silent and the voice of diplomacy should speak and be heard by all," Borrell added. www.euronews.com/my-europe/2024/09/30/eu-calls-on-israel-and-hezbollah-to-show-restraint-in-moment-of-truth-for-lebanon
