They better tell protesters George Harrison is dead LOL! I am going there LOL! Weeks of escalating student protests over a quota reform for government jobs have spiraled into Bangladesh's worst unrest in living memory with over a hundred deaths in the past few days. The government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has imposed a nationwide curfew and deployed the military, following clashes between demonstrators and police during student protests. Most local news outlets have not updated their online editions since Thursday night, after the government largely cut off internet, telephone, and SMS connections. www.dw.com/en/bangladesh-sees-toughest-civil-unrest-in-decades/a-69720385

You kinda knew this going to happen Bangladesh: Military enforces curfew after protests Bangladesh's army on Saturday began enforcing a curfew meant to quell student-led protests, after at least 105 people were killed this week in the unrest. The curfew will last until 10 a.m. local time (0400 UTC) on Sunday. The government said it will then assess the situation and decide the next course of action. Bangladesh begins curfew, critics urge protester death probe The measure was temporarily eased for two hours from midday to allow people to shop for groceries and supplies. TV footage showed that people in the streets had their ID cards examined by soldiers at various checkpoints. The French AFP news agency reported that one of its journalist saw police fire live rounds at protesters in the capital Dhaka on Sunday. Too bad George Harrison is dead and can't protest LOL! Bangladesh's government extends nationwide curfew and internet ban An internet blackout will remain in force and the nationwide curfew has been extended, meaning people will only be allowed out between 3pm and 5pm. Bangladesh has extended its nationwide curfew as its Supreme Court rules on a civil service hiring quota which has sparked violent protests in the last few days. Universities have been closed, the internet has been shut off and the government has ordered people to stay at home. People will only be allowed out between 3pm and 5pm, and only to run essential errands. www.euronews.com/2024/07/21/bangladeshs-government-extends-nationwide-curfew-and-internet-ban
