IDF Strikes 14 Targets in Syria following Iranian-Backed Rocket Attack
By Lea Speyer August 21, 2015
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” (Psalm 46:1)
Four rockets shot into northern Israel Thursday afternoon are a small taste of impending Iranian terror on the Jewish state, the IDF said.
The rockets, which were shot from Syria into the northern Galilee and Golan Heights region, sparked fires but caused no injuries.
The army revealed that the Palestinian terror group Islamic Jihad were responsible for the rocket fire, saying the attack was backed with “Iranian money and intention.”
“We consider Syria to be responsible for the fire and it will also suffer the results,” the IDF said in a statement, adding the attack “is a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the State of Israel.”

A Strong Israeli Retaliation to Rocket Attack Kills at Least Five
By Adam Eliyahu Berkowitz August 21, 2015 , 4:30 pm
The LORD will grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. They will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven. (Deuteronomy 28:7)
Thursday night, the Israeli Air Force killed the four terrorists who launched rockets into Israel the day before. The strike was carried out 10-15 kilometers inside Syrian territory, in an area controlled by the Syrian Army.
A senior IAF officer said, “This morning we struck a vehicle in Syria with four people on board. We tracked this cell and it was struck ten to 15 kilometers from the borders in territory under the complete control of the Syrian army.”
Syrian state TV reported the strike as killing five “unarmed civilians” at a Syrian army position. The London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the strike killed two pro-regime militiamen travelling in a car.
Another IAF strike at a military site in Quneitra was reported by Syrian news sources. They reported one Syrian soldier killed and eight wounded. Another airstrike hit a Syrian army weapons depot, artillery batteries, and communications antennae.
The airstrike came as part of an attack combining air force, artillery, and tanks, which targeted a total of 14 targets in Syria.

Iran Behind Rocket Fire on Golan, Says Senior IDF Officer
By Kobi Finkler 8/20/2015
Iran was behind the firing of rockets from Syrian territory onto Israel, a senior IDF officer said on Thursday evening.
The officer said that the directive to fire the rockets was personally given out by the head of the Palestinian department in Iran’s Al-Quds force.
Four rockets hit Israel Thursday afternoon in the Upper Galilee region in the north. All four exploded in open areas.
The IDF responded to the incident with artillery fire, noting that the Syrian regime is responsible for the rocket attacks emanating from its sovereign territory, "and it will bear responsibility for the results."
"So far, the attack is a very broad attack," the senior officer said Thursday evening. "5-6 artillery targets were struck, including targets at a depth of several kilometers. The goal was to respond to the incident and simultaneously convey a clear message to the other side."
"We were not surprised by the shooting," he said.
