I give the rating A D LOL! The current EU Parliament and Commission had just begun the work of their five-year agenda when it was derailed by Covid-19 and then the Ukraine war. As the institutions' mandate enters a final phase, Real Economy gets the views of key players in Brussels on one of the EU's most difficult chapters. A five-year cycle of turmoil; from COVID-19 to the war in Ukraine and its consequent energy shock, and with soaring inflation thrown in for good measure Europe’s economy has been rocked by an unprecedented series of crises over the past half-decade. As the EU's Economy Commissioner Paulo Gentiloni puts it: “Nobody would have predicted that we could have had two Black Swans in a row,” referring to the highly improbable sequencing of events such as the pandemic and Russia's invasion of Ukraine. As Europeans get ready to go to the ballot box in June's parliamentary elections, Real Economy assesses the EU’s economic performance over this challenging period and the prospects for recovery in the next. How can the bloc boost growth and productivity, is the Green Deal still on track, and do trading relati www.euronews.com/business/2024/05/15/from-crisis-to-cooperation-how-the-eu-handled-the-troubled-2019-2024-era

Because they don't work Why might the euro continue to weaken against the US dollar? The euro has shown a weakening trend against the US dollar since the start of the year. The decline can be attributed to divergence in inflation trajectories of the euro area and the US, suggesting a continuation of the euro's depreciation relative to the dollar. The euro, serving as the official currency for 20 members of the European Union, has experienced a notable devaluation against the US dollar, declining approximately 2.2% since the start of 2024. Despite a recent minor uptick in the euro's value, the exchange rate between the two currencies, denoted as EUR/USD, has lingered at historically low levels, hovering just below 1.08 as of 14 May. www.euronews.com/business/2024/05/14/why-might-the-euro-continue-to-weaken-against-the-us-dollar
