One of my favorite authors wrote this and I wanted to share it with you. He has some interesting ideas!
“Watching for the Coming Blizzard"
Welcome Dear Friends. If you have read any of my books or followed this newsletter for any amount of time, then you know I have my eye on end times events as they relate to the Bible. However, I speak to professing believers all the time who do not have a "last days lens." Today's newsletter is meant to encourage you to "see and recognize" the signs of the end, as Jesus instructed us (Matthew 24:33). Let me explain.
Many Christians haven't considered the relevance of current events in the news (see OliveTreeViews/Headlines & Prophecy Watch) as they pertain to our daily study of the Scriptures. Perhaps as much as a third of the Bible contains prophecy, so we are not to ignore those passages or the instruction to be obedient by watching and being ready.
Here's the whole concept behind the link between end times prophecies and current events: because you know from Scripture how things will be in the end, you can recognize trends today moving in that direction. This is why and how I write about America's last days in ways that relate to Scripture. We see movement today more than yesterday toward the unfolding of those prophesied circumstances.
Here are seven prophetic situations in Scripture that we see and recognize today as trends moving closer to fulfillment. Yes, not every snowflake we see means the blizzard is upon us, but we know that the blizzard will definitely occur by the combination of a lot of snowflakes!
Seven Prophetic Trends Today to See and Recognize:
Worldwide food shortages. According to Revelation 6:6, food will be so scarce on a global scale that the common citizen during the Tribulation will spend one day's wages/labor for one day's worth of food for one person. When we see Putin withholding grain until it spoils or the European Union cutting back on fertilizer so less food is produced, we're seeing trends toward this prophecy that have global impacts like never before.
Global medicine advancements. According to Revelation 6:6, the destructive angel is told not to harm the oil and wine quite yet. Some believe this refers to food or wealth. However, the context describes a lack of food and a collapse of wealth at that time. Likely, these two elements refer to one of the first century's use for wine and oil: medicine. See for example Luke 10:34. Ironically, it seems that with the current advancements of AI merging with big pharma, food will be scarce but medicine will be in abundance. Perhaps vaccines and psych meds will be plentiful, but people will be starving.
One world government. According to Revelation 13:3, the whole world will follow after the beast symbolizing some sort of self-exalting political figure (probably a literal man, whom we often refer to as the Antichrist; also described in Daniel 11:36-39.) We see today how governments are attempting to merge by way of their economies and social policies. "Globalism" is the word on many politicians’ lips these days.
One world religion. According to Revelation 13:15, a false prophet (the second beast in this chapter) promotes the global worship of the first beast. Today, we see multiple religions in a sort of race to become a centralized belief system. Some theologians are beginning to see not one traditional religion be adopted by all, but rather mysticism or spiritism in general being accepted by the world's population. Certainly, we see the trend today of most people reaching for spiritual contact, but since they're not reaching for the God of the Bible, they will ultimately unite around the god of this world (Satan, 2 Corinthians 4:3-4).
One world economy. According to Revelation 13:16, a global leader will force all global citizens to receive a mark of identification, which will proclaim loyalty as well as access to buy or sell anything and everything on a private and public level. Today, we see centralized banking as the latest trend. Banks are merging, getting larger, and promoting centralized currency systems.
Government regulation of everything. According to Revelation 13:17 and based upon financial regulation, the global government during the tribulation years will try to control every aspect of a citizen's life. When they control how money is spent, they will control where people travel, what people believe, and how they spend their pastime. Today, governments of multiple nations meet almost weekly to make plans on how best to regulate the lives of their people. Due to environmental fanaticism, everything from what people eat to how much they travel is soon to be determined by government overlords.
Israel continuously targeted. According to Ezekiel 38, a regional army led by Russia will soon attack Israel. Perhaps this will be related to Israel's opposition to Russia's current aggressiveness, or the fact that Israel's recent oil production is replacing Russia's embargo against Europe. According to Revelation 13, the world leader during the tribulation will try to destroy Israel as a nation. Today's mounting opposition to Israel defending itself as a sovereign nation is a trend that will climax at the fulfillment of prophecy regarding God's chosen nation and people.
As we see these things happening—snowflakes forming—could this be a warning of the coming blizzard? And as Jesus said, “So, you too, when you see all these things, recognize that He is near, right at the door” (Matthew 24:33 NASB).
As for me and mine, we'll see you in the clouds!
