Good Morning everyone! Another weekend coming up for all to enjoy!
Yesterday worked out better than I expected, but then I guess that I should have expected that since I finally turned the entire thing over to the Lord and kept my grubby hands out of it! 
The lady that works in Scheduling at out hospital is a nurse and is very against allowing anyone to have a paracentesis as often as Chris needs them. So instead of calling the hospital and scheduling his procedure, she told me she wouldn't let that happen and put me on hold while she went and talked to my sons doctor, who ordered the procedure. Then when she got back on the phone she told me she was going to go and speak to the nurses and surgeons who perform the procedure about it and after that she would call me and let me know when and if he could have it done. I bet if anyone had seen me on the phone with her, they would have seen smoke coming out of my ears because I was so angry! She made it so Chris couldn't get it done that day because by the time she got done "talking" to everyone, all the possible appointments for the procedure that day were already taken. Which of course is exactly what she intended to happen.
I understood her concern but she was out of line because she didn't know Christopher's history or how he reacts to a paracentesis, or that he's had them many times over the last 5 years without any side effects. Normally a surgeon will only take out 4 liters once a week. But because Chris gets so full, the have always taken out 5 liters, at least up to last week when she interfered. That day and yesterday they had to take out 6 liters. That's a little more than 2 and a half gallons! With that much fluid in his stomach he looks like he's carrying triplets, he can't bend over and really can't even stand up or walk much at all. That much also makes it difficult for him to breathe and will cause hernias. That's what this lady was doing to him by making us wait.
Well, yesterday his doctor took care of it! She had the day surgery all set up to do an infusion for Chris and get another blood test done as soon as the paracentesis was done. BUT he didn't have to go if he had no side effect from the procedure, which he didn't. So that lady couldn't stop us!
But, Christopher's EKG came out showing some problems with his heart now. He's supposed to have an Endoscopy next week, but because of the EKG results they want to have another EKG done before they will authorize the Endoscopy. So we have to go to the big city for that. Personally, I don't want him to have the endoscopy now. I'd rather have them wait a month or two. But I turned that over the Lord too, so have to keep my hands out of it.
