I'm sorry you're not feeling well Kelly. I hope you're back to normal very soon. Saying a prayer for you now
Yes, please let us know what you see there Marlene!
Today I have to try and catch up on all the work I haven't been able to do around my house. I'm not particularly looking forward to it though.

Well I went to the border town and it looked like the same slow moving sleepy town that it was when I visited it many years ago, though I was told to show ID to prove who I was, asked if I had any weapons and border patrol asked me if I was a citizen. So I don't know what goes on.

There is something new in grocery store online shopping now and that is Marketplace one stop shop for a global food, that is food from India or Italy can be ordered through the grocery store and shipped ups or fedx to a person, I'm not interested in that and I think temu China products has a warehouse in the US, thought I saw that once.

Hi everyone. Guess what? I think I told you all over a year ago that our freezer died in the same week that our fridge died. We got a new fridge but couldn't afford to get another freezer, at least not till last week. My daughter works at Job Lots and we got an "insider" special deal from them to get another freezer just like our old one for only $150, so I jumped at it! We're going to go pick it up today and I can hardly wait. It's funny, because I never had an extra freezer until well after all my kids were grown and gone. But after having one for fifteen years, I now can't imagine living without one. It just makes life so much easier for me. The grandkids love it too, because with it, I can store a lot more kinds of ice cream treats for them!
Marlene, may I ask which border town you went to? If you're uncomfortable telling me, that's ok, don't worry about it. It won't upset me if you say you'd rather not say. I only ask because I was born and spent the first half of my childhood in Tucson and am familiar with some of the border areas. (I didn't know that's what they were when I was a child though, only later when I grew up).
Kelly, I hope you're feeling great again by now!
I'd better run and check out Barbara's Bible study. She's doing such a great job on it!

Cindy that border town was Douglas. Well settle back in your saddles partner, did you all have horses? Your dad may have gone to the border town south of Tucson to go to a court house at Bisbee, or the most shopping to be done straight south of Tucson at border town Sierra Vista and if you went for fun just north of Sierra Vista was Tombstone where men still wear cowboy attire and still do re-enactments of the shoot out at the ok corral. When I had those horses at my place for the summer one of those horses was taken to Tombstone into one of the old time saloons there for a photoshoot.

Anna what do you think really happened at the OK coral? I suppose we won't really know this side of Heaven. Seems Like maybe Wyatt Earp was not as glamours a hero as I always thought? I have since read that besides being a law man, he was a gambler, saloon owner, miner and a pimp???
That would take his 'hero' status down a bit! IF all those were true.
But still......Is that list true ????

Hey, i have a story
As you know, I had been waiting to hear how my job interview went.
God kept saying to me "hey, its all good". And...the flesh is not one to leave you alone, so it was a battle, like Peter used to have...not only did God say i would be OK, but also that i wasnt allowed to apply for any other jobs!
And then ....my wife announced she found a lump......so no potential income, only 8 weeks of income to go, and facing huge medical costs had it been cancer, but I figured this must be a serious faith training exercise....
So God was so faithful....He gave me a great job which I am so grateful for, praise God!
Funnily enough, through it all i never really freaked out, rather just felt calm. It was good too, as it helped me get closer to God, and gave thanks everyday. I never want to be the ungrateful servant.
God is soooo faithful and true, we are so thankful for His loving kindness. We learnt to really lean on God and trust Him.Thank you everyone for your prayers.
Amen.

I see some my fellow parishoners wear Mask some of them are from Asia like Japan or Phillipines I not goofing them they want feel secure they are elderly so NO PROBLEM Vacation bible school is going back to normal for the church It's strange because it's like some states are so totally different than others. California and Massachusetts seem similar in the way they handled covid. It seems to me like they scared their residents so badly that even now some of them still want to wear masks. I guess because New Hampshire has always wanted freedom more than anything else, it just didn't affect us as much. I think if the governor had tried to make us wear masks, he would have had a revolution on his hands. So instead, he asked us to, but more or less left it us to us. At the very beginning most people hear wore masks, but that didn't last long. For the last couple of years I've only seen a few people wearing a mask, and that was generally people who worked in the hospital where it was "mandatory". But even there, although the staff was told they had to wear one, you'd see it down under their nose, or even under their chin, and sometimes, just hanging on their ear. That was true of both the hospital staff and the people going there to see their doctor or have blood drawn, x-rays, or whatever. For the last year, the hospital was the only place people had to wear a mask. I guess they finally gave up because they saw people were not cooperating at all and told everyone on staff and visitors that no masks were necessary. Everyone basically said that it was long overdue for that, and that they were glad to finally not have to pretend to wear them anymore. No one here has even heard about vaccinations for years now. You can get them if you want to, but they're not talked about anymore than the vaccine for measles or polio are.Cindy that border town was Douglas.
I went and looked at a map and was surprised at all the places we went. We went to yuma at least once that I can remember, and also went to Nogales, Sierra Vista, and Wilcox. For fun my dad took us to Old Tucson and Tombstone.
Yes, my daddy was a cowboy. We had a very large ranch. The ranch I was born on was the largest dude ranch in Arizona. But my dad wanted his own working ranch so he bought the Arrow H ranch when I was about a year old. He rounded up wild horses and broke them and sold them, just like the cowboy shows you see on TV. I didn't see him breaking them till I was a little over 2 years old and when I did, I ran to him crying and made him stop. Then I went to the black stallion he'd been trying to break and stood by him with my hand on his leg (couldn't reach any higher lol) and made my dad promise I wouldn't do that anymore with him. So my dad gave up for that day, and put the horses back in their corral or their stalls. Once my dad was gone, I climbed up the side of the stall the stallion was in and pulled myself up on his back. I think my dad and mom both just about had heart attacks when they saw me sitting on him. They were sure he would buck me off and trample me, but he didn't. Our ranch hand kept literally holding my dad back so he wouldn't go in and grab me. He kept telling him to look and realize that the horse wasn't hurting me and didn't seem at all upset that I was on his back. And besides that, the horse most likely could hardly feel anything on his back since I was only 2 years old. Once he got through to my dad, and my mom (who'd been crying), they relaxed (some) and came up to the corral, and talked quietly, telling me to climb down. Of course, I didn't want to, but I finally did, much to their relief. Then, the next day I did it again. My poor parents! But this time they actually saw me climb on his back and saw that the horse didn't mind at all. They were too far away to get to me fast enough to stop me, so they could only watch. I kept trying to kick the stall open but couldn't. I wanted to go for a ride. The horse would get upset if my dad came near him, but didn't mind my mom or our ranch hand, since neither of them had been involved in trying to break him. So after a few more days of seeing that the horse wouldn't hurt me no matter what I did, my dad finally said he could be my horse. I named him Pronto. He was a beautiful black stallion and super fast! I loved riding him! Our ranch hand would put my saddle on him for me and then I'd take off going all over the ranch!
I had a bunch of other horses and ponies too, but in my mind I'd out grown all but a couple of them. Taffy would literally follow me around like a puppy. Once I went inside and forgot to close the door. My mom had her back to me as she was washing dishes, but then she heard the sound of hooves on her floor and turned around in time to see Taffy follow me right to the bathroom! Another of my favorite horses was Lollipop. She was a paint horse and fun to ride too.
When my dad wasn't working on our ranch, he would be in lots of rodeos. He would be the roping contests, and riding bulls. I can't remember what else at the moment though. I loved living on our ranch!

But still......Is that list true ???? I don't believe he was a pimp. As for the rest, most men in those days dabbled in a mine at least once if there was any way they could, so that wouldn't surprise me. The saloon owner, I'm not sure about, but if he did, he probably did so to keep it legal and stop the cheating. That's what I heard about gambling too. Again, most men in those days gambled at least occasionally. It wouldn't surprise me if he was good at it. What I've heard is just that he couldn't abide cheaters. So that wouldn't cause any harm to his status at all.

But still......Is that list true ???? This is what I read. Many individuals from Tombstone are in this Tombstone Boot Hill cemetery, including victims from a shootout that took place in 1881 between the Cowboys and Earps on Fremont Street. For years, though, the cemetery was neglected. It was taken over by the desert and gravestones were removed by vandals. Some began to clean up The Old Cemetery in the 1920s and doing research so that the grave markers could be properly replaced. The Gunfight at the O.K. Corral is the most famous Tombstone event, although it happened in a Fremont Street vacant lot and not the O.K. Corral. The event took place on October26, 1881 when the Cowboys had a bit of a run-in with a few Earps – Morgan, Virgil and Wyatt. Not even 30 seconds and about 30 gun shots later, Frank and Tom McLaury and Billy Clanton were dead. For many, it is believed that it this sole event that has kept the city of Tombstone alive. Tom McLaury (June 30, 1853 – October 26, 1881) was an American outlaw. He and his brother Frank owned a ranch outside Tombstone, Arizona, Arizona Territory during the 1880s. He was a member of a group of outlaws Cowboys and cattle rustlers that had ongoing conflicts with lawmen Wyatt, Virgil, and Morgan Earp. The McLaury brothers repeatedly threatened the Earps because they interfered with the Cowboys' illegal activities. On October 26, 1881, Tom and Frank were both killed.

Thank you Cindy! Seems like getting the truth, even way back then, was not always easy!
What cool stories about your life on a ranch with horses!!
I always thought horses were beautiful! And just think, we all are going to get, perhaps our own horse, when we ride with Jesus.
So tho I don't have the experience with horses as you, I did take horse back riding lessons for either one summer or two summers.
My adopted mom's father raised trotter horses, and mom called her sister a great horse woman... ( so I guess when I was at the age when many young girls fall in love with horses, she decided to give me horse back riding lessons).
