Thanks Lorrie! (except it's Michael, not Michelle, lol but I know their names can get confusing; I confused them all the time lol) I still haven't heard from Mark though. Wait a minute... I thought you meant Michelle in the quote above about Christian rehab. It doesn't matter though - I prayed for all three of them this morning (and your other two also, just for good measure! Oh, and for you too Cindy, along with all our 'chatters').
I'd forgotten about Ruthanne possibly losing her internet, so thanks for reminding me of that! Hope you're able to talk to her!
Guess what, I got an email from Ruthanne this morning! She is doing okay, she just had a bunch of messages and had not seen my email until now. She said to tell everyone hello and it sounds like she's doing well. I'm still hoping to call her sometime this week, but I didn't today.
Going to go rest for awhile now, my foot is hurting....
Thanks Lorrie, I know other people's families can be confusing, especially when we have lots of kids, and their names are similar lol. Let's see if I can help confuse you My oldest is Michelle. She's born again and has 3 children and is in the process of adopting another or trying to anyway. Maddie's the one she's adopting and she's been living with Michelle for the last 2 years already. She works with the disabled. Then comes Michael. He works in construction generally and is also a very talented musician. He's married with two children. He's went to rehab about a year ago for drug use and has been clean since then. He's also been very ill for the last 5 years off an on, although lately it's been more on again. It all started when he had surgery for malrotation of his intestines which means that his intestines were upside down and had to be turned around. He also has RA which hasn't helped any and recently got a severe infection that they still can't figure out. Oh, he also began going to church and getting to know the Lord sometime last year! Then comes Jonathan. He's divorced and 2 children and a grandchild. He works in finances and was recently sent overseas and spent time in India, Rome, and England. He tells me not to worry because he's saved, but he's not living for the Lord. Next is Christopher. He's divorced and having problems with alcohol right now. He has many talents, knows the Lord but isn't living for Him, obviously, and has often worked in construction with Bruce or his brothers. Michael is the one who's attempting to help Christopher right now. Finally comes Jennifer, who you guys all know fairly well so I won't get into that or her kids. Hope that doesn't confuse you more!
That's great you heard from Ruthanne. At least we know she's ok and has the internet now. Hopefully she'll join us soon!
I'm so sorry about your foot! I hope you heal quickly and don't have much pain from it. Hubby found a turtle in our driveway this morning. It was pretty big; some type of water turtle. I called our animal shelter and asked if they would accept another turtle and the lady remembered me from awhile back when I brought the small box turtle in. She said to bring it in and they would give it to the same vet who rescues turtles. I feel so sorry for all the creatures displaced by the construction. Another hot day. It was the first day of school for kids here. That's so great that there are places that will help the animals and even turtles that get displaced. It's going to be so great in heaven when we can live in harmony with all of them, won't it?Cindy, glad Chris is doing some what better, will continue to think of them both during the day.. to you all still working them 10 hour days... tired.... Thanks Lulu! I imagine you must be exhausted working all those hours! Is Ron having to work extra hours too? I sure hope not. I hope you'll both be able to relax together very soon!
I meant to tell you all yesterday about something Gracie said that just cracked me up. I have no idea what got her started thinking about it, but all of a sudden she says, "you know what? Earth is God's basement to Heaven!"

Hi Every one, Dad's first day in the rehab. He is on the skilled wing. I cancelled the Dr appointments he had for tomorrow. Praying for your sons Cindy. Hope your foot is healing Leigh. It will be good to hear from Ruthanne. Happy Birthday to you, Tim (a bit late). The Wedding on the 22nd was very beautiful. The bride and groom treated each other with such gentleness. She was radiant. Gracie is so cute.

How did you like our thunderstorm last night? Or did it happen where you are? It's weird around here where there can be a horrible storm in one town and 5 minutes away in another town, nothing at all! In fact, the other day, Bruce was out on his Bike, it started raining and thundering so he pulled over. He was on a hill and could see all the way to Keene where the storm was really bad, but when he looked in the other direction, toward home, he could see where it ended. Right on the road where he was standing he could see and feel the rain of course, but just a few feet away the road was completely dry! All 3 of the cats were freaked out about it last night, so we made tents for them to hide in lol. Then Chloe began playing on top of the coffee table that we'd put a blanket over. She was so funny that it distracted all of us from the storm!
Well, I've got to get going. I wrote something called Comparing the First Coming with Now that I hope you'll find interesting. Also, Eternal Reward and Eternal Life which you may find encouraging.

Morning everyone. Cindy, those articles sound interesting - I will try and get to them today. Thanks also for the tutorial on your children! I do get mixed up about the grandchildren, although of course I know Elijah and Gracie belong to Jenn (such a cute thing Grace said about Earth being the basement of Heaven!!). Catt, so thankful your father has gotten into rehab! I know it is a relief to you also. Lulu, thank you for the update; I cannot even imagine working 10 hour days, especially in your line of work, bent over a microscope. :faint:I know you enjoy it though (thankfully) - and with those kind of hours, it's a good thing you do! Margie, that was nice of you to take care of the turtle. I hope your grandchildren have a good school year. Are they continuing to homeschool? Well I have to run. (Not literally. ) Back in January I started taking Precept classes at a friend's house and we did a couple of different Bible book studies. We are starting back today (actually they started back last week but I didn't try to go because she has a steep driveway and steps) and we are doing a two-part series on the book of Hebrews. It will take the entire school year to complete, except that we'll be taking a 6 week break for the holidays. Hebrews has always been a bit difficult to understand, but the first day's assignment was to read the entire book in one sitting, then the next few days we had to read the entire book again looking for a few basic, specific things. Amazing how, when read at one time, it makes more sense. I don't think I'd ever read it straight through in one day before. Anyway, one of my friends is picking me up in 57 minutes so I'd better get ready.

LOL I get confused with my grandkids too so don't feel bad, you're not alone!
Yes, reading a book all the way through in one sitting is an excellent way to start a study. It's also a great way to end it. When I can, I like to start my study that way, then study the verses, and when I finally get to the end of it again, read it one last time all the way through. It's amazing how much you can glean from the book that way, with the Lord's help. In the lessons I do with Barb and Eva, I'd noticed that they were getting bogged down and misunderstanding some things because they were trying so hard to take it verse by verse, so they missed the context of things. I felt badly because I knew they were trying so hard to "get it all", and in the process weren't seeing the forest for the trees. I knew it was my fault because they were copying what they'd seen me do so often. The problem was they only saw what I wrote, and not how I studied it in context first as well as during, so I had to find a way to get that across to them. Once they got it though, they did tremendously better and now, instead of them just learning from me, I learn from them too! It's great!
I love the book of Hebrews. I think chapter 11 has always been one of my favorites though. I think of it as the "hall of faith" instead of the "hall of fame" lol. I'm in Matthew right now though, so it'll be awhile before I get there again.

Hello! I just read in the state of Ohio that gasoline is selling for 1 dollar a gallon. Where I live I am paying 2.70 a gallon for gasoline.
Ron downloaded window 10 about a month ago. It was an easy download and all was working normal for a month, then Ron must have clicked his mouse on something he should not have because he completely lost the window 10 download, he could not even sign in to get on-line. Then he chose the middle of the night to run the window 7 disk to download back window 7 and that took all night, keeping me awake, but anyways we now are using window 7 and plan to just keep window 7 and are not interested in any new downloads.

Leigh, only my daughter's youngest boy is being homeschooled. Her 2 older kids are in middle school now.
Still warm summer weather here. I'm slowly cleaning house (very slowly!). I take a lot of breaks.
Hugs to all.

I'm just going to stick with firefox. It keeps me safe.
It's plenty hot here for me, though I'm sure it's not as hot as where you are.
Hope everyone has a good day!

By the way, Mark posted in his prayer request thread with an update for those who are interested. He also said he'd call me tomorrow, so I'll let you all know what he says probably on Sunday.

Cindy, I read ".quote of the day." It may not show that I read it because I find it easier to read from "recent posts."

It's nice to know someone does, thanks Anna! On our old board, it showed who viewed a thread, but this board doesn't have that, so it makes it hard to know what people like or don't like.
I spoke to Mark finally yesterday. The good news: the doctors have said that they are not going to amputate his leg, that they are going to fight with him to try and keep it. So at least that's not their immediate answer to the problem. The bad news: Mark has a great deal of infection in his leg that antibiotics and all their treatments so far haven't been able to get rid of. Plus he fell recently, creating more wounds which also got infected. Yes, it's the MRSA infection. (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus -MRSA- infection is caused by a strain of staph bacteria that's become resistant to antibiotics) He's in quite a bit of pain from the wounds and infection of course and the treatments they're using cause pain themselves. He also has gotten cellulitis which compounds the problem. Although he's currently at home, he's not in good enough shape to come and visit us here himself, or else he'd be here. He does come and read sometimes, but just isn't up to replying for the most part. He's also still helping Shirley who recently had an attack of asthma for the first time, so that's a concern as well. And of course all the trips he has to make to the doctor and hospital for his own care are wearing and time consuming, and make helping Shirley that much more difficult. Needless to say, he's a mess and really needs a great deal of prayer from us, his friends.
I'll post this in his prayer request too, so everyone will see it.
Not too much going on here right at the moment. Still praying for my boys and for Michelle's adoption process. Cassandra has left for college which is a big change for Michelle to adjust too. Grace and Elijah are really going to miss her too, as will all the family.
Today we have to go do the shopping so will be gone for quite awhile. Tomorrow we're having a big turkey dinner though. I bought one after Christmas when they were on sale and got a good deal and have been waiting to use it. So that's what we'll have with Jenn and the kids tomorrow.

Poor Mark, bless his heart! Thank you for the update Cindy. (Do you have an address where we can send him a card? Like we did for Marianne last year?) Keeping up the prayers too for your children.
Have fun with the turkey dinner - that sounds delicious.
Hi Anna! How's everything out your way?
Margie, hope ALL your grandchildren have a great school year ahead.
Tonight is the last night of our community play; it's been fun but I'm ready for it to be over. Cindy, about Hebrews, at class the other day, I listed chapter 11 as my favorite chapter in the book also (called it the "Hall of Faith" too!).

And I don't think I have his new address sine they moved. I'm so sorry. But he's supposed to call me back tomorrow or the next day so I ask him then, ok?
That's neat. I bet a lot of folks have that as their favorite! Can I share something with you? I had trouble with the last few verses for a long time. Let me underline the parts of them that gave me pause for so long:
“Women received back their dead, raised to life again. Others were tortured and refused to be released, so that they might gain a better resurrection.” (Hebrews 11:35) “Some faced jeers and flogging, while still others were chained and put in prison. They were stoned; they were sawed in two; they were put to death by the sword. They went about in sheepskins and goatskins, destitute, persecuted and mistreated— the world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and mountains, and in caves and holes in the ground. These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised. God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect.” (Hebrews 11:36–40)
It reminded me of Philippians 3:10–11, 1 Peter 2:21–24, Daniel 12:2, Luke 14:14, Luke 20:35, and of course 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17, as well as others. Anyway, I found it fascinating to study it and learn more. It really showed me what Paul's attitude was which I thought was really important because it seems to be behind everything he writes.
My poor baby Angel is still having a hard time breathing. She's been on the prednisone again for awhile now but last night I tried only giving her half a tablet thinking I might be able to wean her off of it again now that the weathers a little better. But about 15 minutes ago I realized she was once again having a horrible time breathing so gave her a full tablet right away. Now I have to watch her struggle till it takes affect. The vets have been warning me for the last year that she may have to be on it for the rest of her life. I hate that idea and have fought it. She only used it for a couple of weeks last year, but this year seems to be on it more then she's off of it. I have a feeling that they may just be right this time. Luckily I had tons of prednisone left from when I was on it, so didn't have to buy anymore. I think I still have about 30 of them left, so won't need more for awhile, although they're a year past the date they were prescribed. But they have a very long shelf life even though all prescriptions tell you to "discard" the med after a year. I did double check with the pharmacy and the vets though and they all assured me it was still good. good evening Ladys...it's a one here again today. this is a Jazzy weekend but it's also the 5th weekend of the month....this weekend is for Grandma Lyn and Papa...So Jazzy is in the pool with her cousin right now for sure! she's probably a wrinkled prune! I want one!!! praying for you all, think of you all often through out my days... It's great you got to see Jazzy and her other grandparents too. You're so blessed that you can be part of all of their lives, and they yours! What kind of Karate class is Jazzy in? Is it like the kind Chuck Norris teaches or a different one? I'm glad you and Ron got to spend the weekend together, that's always a blessing! So, what did he do to spoil you? Inquiring minds want to know... Tell him "hi" from us!
I like that show too, if it's the one I'm thinking about. The only parts I don't like is the guy himself as he's into all kinds of weird beliefs which he talks about fairly frequently. I've seen him take part in occult/witchcraft practices on the show to rid a tree of "evil spirits" supposedly, as well as take part in various eastern religious rites with owners of the property. So I enjoy the tree houses themselves, but would love to get hold of the guy and tell him the truth about God and set him free from Satan's control. I guess I've gotten to the point now where I just hate seeing anyone under Satan's influence or control and feel so badly for them.
Well, I'd better get busy. I"m not even dressed and have a lot to do before the kids get here!

Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father There is no shadow of turning with Thee Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be
Chorus Great is Thy faithfulness Great is Thy faithfulness Morning by morning new mercies I see All I have needed Thy hand hath provided Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me
Summer and winter and springtime and harvest Sun, moon and stars in their courses above Join with all nature in manifold witness To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside

Hi friends!
I know I've been gone again. Work has been absolutely crazy! We had two full time housekeepers quit at the same time and we were already one part timer short to begin with. So me and one other have been working six day weeks and the girl who came in for the part time position ended up getting full time just a day or two after she started. She wanted full time but was willing to take the part time until something else came along so it worked out great for her. For us too. We are finally back to four full timers but still need a part timer. Unfortunately about 90% who come in for a job in any department were I work either can't pass the background check or the drug test. And a lot that do pass both are appalled to find out that they actually are expected to work. I was training one lady sent her to lunch and she never came back. She left the boss a not telling her that I said she was to slow. All I had said was that she was doing well but that once she was on her own she would have to speed up. Guess she didn't want to. Anyway between the 6 day weeks and doing (and redoing and redoing) the housekeeping schedule, I've been pretty busy. Hopefully I'll be around a bit more.
Chelsea is doing well. Just finished her first week as a middle school English teacher and the kids are behaving very well.
Stan's still planning to retire in Dec.

Daniel, thanks for posting the video Good morning ladies! For the last two days, in the early morning, I have been cleaning my shed and rearranging what is in there. I only had three trash cans full of trash from the cleaning, mostly tin cans and books, the cardboard I put outside the trash cans. Now today we have to make some racks to hold up the ultra light airplane wings for storage, as soon we will bring that airplane back here and take it apart and store it for the winter. I also have some blankets to wash and some carpet to clean, that I took out of that shed. My neighbor Bucky had a metal swing set and he added sheet metal to it so he could use it for shade when he puts new horseshoes on the horses. A few nights ago we had a lightning storm and lightning struck the swing set and destroyed it. Well it is early morning now so I need to start working before it gets to warm to work. Have a blessed day today, love Anna.

Good morning! I looked at the site Lulu mentioned, Animal Planet, tree house man. That is interesting to look at the tree houses, I book marked the site and will look more at it later. I plan to do grass cutting or I should say weed cutting and oven baking today. Ron was able to talk to the area hermit yesterday, they talked for an hour. He is a Christian man and they talked about the Lord. It has been ten years since Ron last talked to the man. bye for now, Anna

Seems they all either do drugs or drink in excess, and like you said, most don't want to work, they just want to get paid for doing nothing. I had the same problem when I worked in residential care. Glad to hear you're doing well though! Daniel, thanks for posting the video Good morning ladies! For the last two days, in the early morning, I have been cleaning my shed and rearranging what is in there. Sounds like you've been busy! I could see disaster coming as soon as you said he put sheet metal on it LOL, though I didn't expect it so soon! Poor guy! Daniel, thank you so much for posting the Great Is Thy Faithfulness video. That is so beautiful. I sang along too. Cleaning my kitchen today. Going to exercise class in the morning. Still kinda hot here. Hugs to all. It's hot here still too. I'm looking forward to Wednesday, Sept 9th, as the weather is supposed to cool off a LOT starting that day and stay normal finally! So if it does, that means it will be in the low 70's finally. This has been one of the hottest summers we've had in a very long time. According to farmers almanac, this coming winter is going to be extra cold just like last winter too. Can't catch a break in any season it seems. Popping in to say hi - will try to post later! Hi Lorrie, good to see you! I hope your foot is doing better today. Good morning! I looked at the site Lulu mentioned, Animal Planet, tree house man. That's nice that he got to talk to him. Funny you'd mention it too because I was just telling the Lord last night that I was thinking of putting an ad in the free yard sale sites on Facebook for our area that just said something like, Christian woman looking for other like minded women who love the Lord and His Word and would love to have others to talk to about it! I'm curious if anyone would reply to it.... haven't decided if I'm really going to do it or not though.
I gave Angel her prednisone last night and had to give her another one this morning. I sure hope she'll be able to go back to just taking it once a day soon.

Cindy Poor little Angel the cat, I pray she is feeling better today.
That is interesting about that ad you might place in the paper. For some reason reading that brought to memory about when as teenagers Ron and my girlfriend Kathy were driving in Ron's car when Ron told her he felt they should stop by someone's house because someone was having a problem, Kathy agreed and together they picked the house and went and knocked on the front door. A man answered the door and told them that he was just going to kill himself but them knocking on the door stopped him from doing that. Ron and Kathy then talked to the man about the Lord.
I like burgundy wine the best. I used to cook beef in a crock pot with beef gravy and add a splash of burgundy wine, and after that was cooked it smelled good and tasted good.

What an awesome testimony Anna! I still haven't decided about whether or not I'll do that...
I used to make the same thing! I haven't made it that way since I started taking the meds I'm on though. No one said I couldn't, I just didn't want to.
Angel's doing much better today finally! I finally realized what I'd forgotten to do when the vet told me to "go back and do what I'd done at first". I'd forgotten that the first time, I'd given her two prednisone an hour apart, so I did that last night and she's doing much better today! Now she can go the 12 hours between pills without struggling to breathe for the last two hours. Thank the Lord for that!

Hi all,
TGIF tomorrow! And it really is a Friday! I have the weekend off for a change. Works been busy again as corporate came in the last two days and they are going to be short handed in out department this weekend so me and the 2nd floor housekeeper have been ding extra to make it easier on the other two this weekend. Hopefully the background check will come back soon and we can start training the new lady this coming week in time for next weekend.
Stan's doctor visit went good. He does have neuropathy in his feet but the doctor said that she thinks it may be temporary as he has brought down his a1c dramatically. She gave him a low dose pain reliever for it. Also she put him on a low dose aspirin therapy and is thinking about changing his cholesterol pill to one that works better for diabetics even though his numbers are good. We may do that when he goes back in 3 months. She wants him in that often. He had to change doctors as the one he was seeing left. He now sees my doctor who he really likes. So do I, she is really thorough.

Hubby and I went to a locally-owned cafe to have lunch yesterday. When we walked in and looked around, the place was full of ladies. It's a ladies' tea room so hubby was the only man there except for one waiter. I asked him if he wanted to go somewhere else but he said no so we stayed. We had a really good lunch. About 20 minutes later another man came in with his wife and in a few minutes another man so hubby finally had some guy company.
It's already hot here. Supposed to be hot through the weekend.

I wish there was a tea room around here. We once went to a tea room in St Augustine FL, I remember how I enjoyed going there. We are having unusually humid weather here where I live, it is usually always dry air to breath. Lee I am glad you have the weekend off from work and I hope they employ a new worker soon, one that wants to stay and work as a team member. We had a mouse in the house yesterday, not the usual looking mouse, it looked like a round furry ball. Ron just reached down and picked it up and tossed it out outside. I saw two cute saying today one was, " Never run faster than your guardian angel can fly." The other one was" Weeds are flowers too once you get to know them." :garden:

I'm sure it's a big relief for you as well! Hubby and I went to a locally-owned cafe to have lunch yesterday. When we walked in and looked around, the place was full of ladies. That sounds neat Margie. I don't think I've ever been in a tea room...at least not that I'm aware of. Not in the US anyway. I honestly didn't even know there were any. But then I never really thought about it either. I'm sure they have them in England, as I seem to remember going to one there.I wish there was a tea room around here. We once went to a tea room in St Augustine FL, I remember how I enjoyed going there. We are having unusually humid weather here where I live, it is usually always dry air to breath. Those are cute sayings lol
I didn't have a mouse in the house yesterday, but thought I did for a minute. Chloe came running into the house through their cat door with this big ol mouse in her mouth, and I just freaked out thinking she'd caught one and was bringing me her prize! That's exactly what she did too, only it was one of her stuffed toys! It's the same size as a "real mouse", same color and everything, which is why I thought it was a real one, especially the way she was carrying it. I was so glad it wasn't! LOL

Mice!! Even though I think they're cute, they're still not something I want in the house with me!! Boy, I've hardly posted all week, and am just now catching up reading the last couple days of everyone's posts. Lee, it's always good hearing your updates. Sorry about all the OVER-work you're having to do, but glad that Stan is getting good reports from the doctor. Hi to everyone else too! (I love tea rooms by the way, although haven't been to one in a long time.) Well my parents came into town last Friday and were here through Tuesday. They came to see the community play that I was involved in (in orchestra), Mary Poppins. We did six shows over the last two weeks and while it's fun, it's also time-consuming and tiring because of all the late nights. Had a great visit with my parents, then when they left on Tuesday a friend came over to drive me to get my hair cut (since I'm still not driving), and we went to lunch and stopped by the store. If nothing else, the broken foot has caused me to spend more time with friends - I've had three drivers this week outside the family - so that's been enjoyable. Otherwise I'm pretty much a loner, I've come to realize. Wednesday night our fall children's programs started at church; this year a girlfriend and I will be teaching Mission Friends, which is the mission program for 4 and 5 year olds, so we had our first class. Yesterday was my Hebrews Precept class, & there was lots of prep-work getting ready for that. So, a lot happened this week. Hope to start driving again next week, although my foot still hurts, but I'm getting around faster now. Cindy, how is Michael doing?

Boy, you sure have managed to stay really busy even with your foot! You're such an inspiration to me! I can't imagine doing so much in one week! But then, when I look back when my children were still at home and I was working -before I got hurt, I guess I used to do a lot too lol. Are you getting the cast off next week?
Michael's not doing too well. I talked to Chris and he told me that Michal's still doing poorly. It made me glad that Michael has Chris with him now. God is so good! Chris sounded good too and says he's enjoying being with Michael and is starting to put some weight back on, so that's good.

Speaking of cooler, we had a surprise last night. It got cooler so we opened the doors and windows, and left them open when we sent to bed. The screen doors were closed though lol. Anyway, when we woke up this morning, we were freezing! It got down to 52 last night! While normally that wouldn't seem cold at all, after being in the 80's and 90's till yesterday afternoon, it sure did!
I've got to run as we have to do the shopping early today. Hope you all have a great weekend!
