Oh my goodness Catt, I am so sorry you lost your glasses in the ocean. That exact thing happened to my Daddy one year on vacation when he and I were out in the water. That is the worst feeling! You are brave to get contacts too! I tried them once.... they couldn't even get them into my eyes, they are so sensitive. Do you plan to continue with the contacts? I'm sure it's just a matter of getting used to them then you won't think a thing about it.
I started this post about three hours ago and things keep happening so let me stop here and try to come back later.

Thanks Leigh. The contacts were just to get me home from the beach. It took me much prayer and about a thousand tries to get them out. My eyes are still red and burning. I called lens crafters but they couldn't do them with the bifocals and the anti reflective coating in less then 3-5 days. So I opted for Walmart Vision Center. The cost was about $200.00 less. They should be here in about a week. They are a completely different look than what I usually buy. Time for a change.

I went to the beach today. And do you know what that naughty ocean did? It smacked me right in the face and took my glasses away! I felt like a child. My sister had to drive me and even dial the phone. I went to a nice Optometrist named Dan Lee. He was at the Seabrook Walmart's Vision Center. He checked my vision and gave me a pair of contact lenses, so I could drive my car home. I have never worn them before today. It was fun having peripheral vision and seeing w/o my glasses. The trick was removing them. My eyes do not like to be touched. You can believe I was praying and praying for God to help me. It took many, many tries. Praying for you Leigh. And everyone. Love your sister in Jesus, Catt oh wow Catt, that must have been scary losing your glasses and then trying lenses for the first time! Are you going to keep those or are you planning on getting another pair of glasses? Good morning!
Cindy that is good that you are still getting strawberries from your strawberry patch. I have heard that churches now days don't have baptismal tanks and don't baptize people anymore and also that people fly on airplanes to get to a another state where they know there is a church with a baptismal tank and they have talked to the pastor and can get baptized there and also that churches don't do alter calls anymore. I didn't know that.
Where did you hear that Anna? I know the churches around here have them! "Catt, sounds like you had a fun day on the beach at the ocean. I had a dream this morning that I was walking toward a beach to look at the ocean but I woke up before I got to the beach." Anna Read more: fresh-hope.com/thread/791/fh-chat-fellowshipping-love-god?page=3#ixzz3jBiZHrFBIf you can call driving 50 miles to get assaulted and robbed, fun. But I don't think so. I can't see w/o my glasses and now I have to buy a new pair. That's 450.00 at Lens Crafters. Fun, fun. assaulted and robbed???? I missed something somewhere! What else happened? That's awful! Hi Leigh. I got contacts when I was 6 years old. They said that back then I was the youngest person to have ever gotten them lol. I'm sure many that age get them now though. Well that's good that you got a better deal on them! Bruce desperately needs new glasses, he can't see out of his they're so scratched up. I finally had him get a pair from a regular store, you know, the magnifying glasses? I figured at least he'd be able to see out of them. I couldn't believe he'd been wearing those glasses as long as he had with them being so bad. But at least he can see out of these magnifying ones.
I've got to get going, late as usual. I think I must be catching up on the 14 years of sleep I missed out on, what with all the sleeping I've been doing the last few months.

Cindy about the assaulted and robbed quote (from Catt), I took it to mean what the ocean did to her... knocked her down and stole her glasses! Is that what you meant Catt??
So it sounds like you won't be keeping the contacts once your new glasses come in Catt? You might get used to the contacts in the meantime.
Cindy, six seems so young to get contacts! Were they the hard lenses? You wear glasses now though, don't you? I hope Bruce is able to get himself some new glasses before long, if the OTC magnifiers aren't enough. It's hard to see out of scratched glasses.
Anna, our church's current building was built in 1999 and we do have a baptismal pool. Not sure about other newer churches in our area, but far as I know, they have them. Now, we don't do altar calls. I think many churches stopped doing those, oh, about 20 years ago. At our church, people are encouraged to speak to the pastor after the service if they need to, and we require new members to go through a class so there is plenty of time to discuss salvation (among other things).
Well I saw the orthopedist today and he said my foot looks pretty good but I have to keep wearing this awful boot for three more weeks, so no driving during that time.
Our community play starts tomorrow night, for three nights. Believe it or not, one of our main male characters in the play broke the exact same bone in his foot (last week at rehearsal) as I did.

I thought the Catholic church only sprinkled water on the heads of babies for baptism. But I am not surprised to read that some newer churches start to baptize in pools.
Leigh, I did not know that most churches stopped doing alters calls as far back as about 20 years ago, it feels like time has passed by so fast, that I did not realize that.
Seven, there are so many fires burning in CA and if CA gets the winter rain that is expected there will be a lot of mudslides. I think the fires are mostly burning in the mountains in CA and WA.

I was surprised myself at how many here had them especially since we have access to so may lakes, ponds and even pools where people can be baptized. I know some Cathoic church in LA has baptizem front and also baptism pools those are newer churches Here it's the non denominational ones that have them as well as various denominations.Cindy about the assaulted and robbed quote (from Catt), I took it to mean what the ocean did to her... knocked her down and stole her glasses! Our community play starts tomorrow night, for three nights. Believe it or not, one of our main male characters in the play broke the exact same bone in his foot (last week at rehearsal) as I did. Yes, it was back in 1962 so they were the big hard lenses. I was glad when they finally reduced the size of them and made them a little softer too. By the time I was an adult of course, they were much smaller and much softer! I wore the contacts from the time I was 6 until I was 36. At that point, for some reason my contacts were starting to bother my eyes as my eyes kept feeling really dry all the time; so I decided that I'd just wear glasses as they'd be more comfortable. I know now that it wasn't the contacts, it was the Sjögren's causing my eyes to be so dry. Even back then I doubted it was the contacts as they'd never bothered me before, but didn't know what else it could be. I know how hard having a child with glasses can be, as children can be hard on their glasses, but I remember how hard it was for my mom with my contacts and think that was a lot worse! My mom learned real quick how to take a sink apart to find a contact that had accidentally gone down the drain . Not to mention the many hours over my life that she spent on the floor looking for one of them!
Oh that's so ironic that he'd break the same bone! Maybe you could get everyone to wear one of those boots for the play and make it a part of the play LOL

Oh, I wanted to thank you all for the prayers for my family, especially my two girls. The hearing for Maddie's adoption has been postponed. Now they have to go to court on Sept 17th and will be told then when the hearing will be scheduled for.
I want to go post some more, but first I have to get the stuff together for our slip and slide and I'm selling it and want to be sure it's altogether when the girl gets here for it.

Catt....praying for your dad... well, tomorrow will be my mom's 83 birthday, she's been on my mind all day...and next month is a year she's been with the Lord....I miss not having my mom here on earth, but I know I'll be seeing her again and soon... while on my walk this afternoon with boy, I said my prayers for you all...I know I'm not here much, but I wanted to let you all know I read and pray for you all all the time...while looking through my scope at work, and while on my walks with boy.... I'm still working 10 hour days, some days, like today I get wicked tired....and head to bed early...Ron's at his meeting and Matt's at work, so it's been a quiet afternoon... wanted to share also that Ron's gotten a clean bill of health! even his heart doctor told him what ever it is he's doing to keep doing it! My 10 year physical starts in November....so we shell see!

That's so wonderful about Ron, Lulu! Praise God! I've got good news about Bruce too, we just found out last night. He had his blood drawn to see how his cholesterol was doing and I was expecting anything except for the report I got: It's normal!!!! A year ago it was slightly above normal and the cardiologist wanted to put him on meds for it. I fought with him and told him absolutely not, that we were going to deal with it by changing his diet. He didn't like the idea at all, and told us so, but could see I wasn't going to bend at all, so agreed, saying that if it went up though, then he had to go on the meds. Well, it not only didn't go up, it went down! Praise God! He is so good!
I'm so glad your dad is doing better Catt. I'm sorry I didn't see this sooner.
I do have a request for you all though. The police in Indiana just called me concerning my son Christopher. He's very confused. I told them it was a medical issue (they'd done two blood tests and determined he hadn't been drinking or doing drugs of any kind) and asked them to get him to the ER. They'd also spoken to my older son Michael and he told them basically the same thing. I asked them to call me back and let me know how he's doing. I hope they do, but told them too I'd be calling Chris in a couple of hours to check on him. After hanging up, Michael called me and he's on his way to the hospital again too. In fact, he just got out of the hospital yesterday, but is returning today for an outpatient appointment with infectious disease. He's still very ill. So both my boy could use some serious prayer if you wouldn't mind adding them to your list. I'd surely appreciate it!
I've got to go do some more serious praying myself. But I did just finish writing Did you know that you are a Priest if you want to check it out. Hope you like it.

Will pray for Chris and Micheal, Cindy. Just got back from visiting dad in the hospital. He is improving slowly. They did a procedure today to fix his bleeding ulcers. I hope they keep him long enough to qualify for rehab (3 days). It happened because he took the wrong medicine. So, I don't think he is safe living independently.

My goodness Cindy, I will start praying for Christopher AND Michael. Please update us as you get more information. (((Lulu))), thank you for checking in - I was starting to worry (but know you're busy with work so figured that was it). Thanks Lorrie, I appreciate it. It looks like the problem was caused by alcohol after all. Not because he'd been drinking, but because he hadn't been drinking. Looks like he's having withdrawals. He was admitted to the hospital yesterday, and by this morning was doing much better and not nearly as confused - at least so far I spoke to his doctor yesterday and today the counselor called me. I told him that while the family all loved him and did want him to come home, that we all also agreed he needed to go straight to rehab first, regardless of where the rehab was located. Since Michael's the one who's trying to get the money to pay for a bus ticket so he can come home, I gave them his phone number so they could talk to him directly. Last night the doc said they thought he'd be in the hospital for several days, but as of today, the counselor said he could be released as early as tomorrow. I sure hope he's not! But God's Will will be done, whatever it is.
Michael's medical problems are severe and serious. They seem to have all been created from the original surgery he had years ago on his intestines. They fixed that problem, but the "cure" caused a whole slew of other problems for him, some of which are life threatening. Of course the drugs he did before he got clean didn't help any, but then again, they also didn't cause the problems, only made them worse. The doctors are having a hard time figuring out a solid diagnosis for him. We know he has RA, but they don't want to automatically label every problem as being caused by the RA without first doing all they can to determine if it might be something else.
One thing surprised and upset me about what was going on with Chris, and that was my oldest daughter's attitude about the Christian rehab we have here. I reminded her that there was only one that I'd want him to go to which is Teen Challenge, because they have the best rate of recovery and their recovery sticks because they don't just get people off drugs or alcohol they give them what they need most of all, Jesus. She didn't say this, but I got the impression that she had no preference, that any rehab was just as good as another, and when I said that part about giving people Jesus, which they really need most of all, she said nothing at all. I know she's saved or thinks she is, and professes to be a Christian, attends church regularly and participates in church functions constantly - to the point of it literally being their second home; but this really makes me wonder...doesn't she realize how important Jesus is for everyone, or is it that she doesn't really know or understand that He really can and does fulfill our every need? It was just unsettling for me I guess and something I'll be praying about for her a lot.

I hope they keep him long enough to qualify for rehab (3 days). It happened because he took the wrong medicine. So, I don't think he is safe living independently. oh dear....that's what I wanted to talk to you about... I do hope you'll call me hon! Catt, hope your Dad is feeling better. Today is word's (Tim's) birthday. Happy Birthday, Tim! Lazy day today, but I did get a pasta/salmon salad made for supper. Hugs to all. Thanks for the reminder about Tim's birthday Margie. I hope he has a great day too!
I'm still in my pj's. Really dizzy today and putting off doing anything, although there's plenty that needs doing.....as usual Angel's been having trouble breathing because of our weather. The due point has been very high as has the humidity making it feel a lot hotter then it really is and it's plenty hot enough without all that too! So I've been having to give her prednisone twice a day this week. We kept the cats inside the house most of the week, which they most certainly did not appreciate, but finally let them go out on the porch yesterday late afternoon. It was funny this morning because instead of having to go look for Angel to give her her medicine, she came inside and waited for me to give it to her! I was so surprised! I'm really hoping I'll be able to drop it down to once a day in a few more days. I hate having to give it to her this often. Actually, I hate giving it to her at all, but she wouldn't be able to breathe if I didn't.
Well I'm off to do a chore or two and then I'll be back if I can.

No, I haven't heard from him either and was just thinking about him again yesterday too. I was hoping I could find his number and call him, but haven't found it yet. Hopefully he'll get back to us soon.
I'm missing everyone too. It seems like there's only a few folks that come by very much. Guess no matter how much you think you realize something, you don't really realize how much you're going to miss people till they're gone or just not around very much.
Well, Chris is out of the hospital and will be on his way home shortly. Michael sent him a bus ticket, but he won't arrive till around 10 tonight, so it will be tomorrow before I can see him. I cheated because I knew Micheal wouldn't tell him, and told Chris how sick Michael is, so hopefully Chris will be able to keep Michael from doing too much for awhile - though I really doubt if anyone can. Guess he gets his stubbornness from me. I haven't been feeling very well and got a lot worse yesterday. Finally realized that I'm actually sick and probably contagious and it's not just the RA. I'll have to tell Jenn she can't come over today. I'd hate to have them catch it with school starting in a few more days. I didn't do much yesterday and am probably going to do even less today, so I might as well get started

I know Cindy, I miss everyone too, and am grateful to those who are stopping in when they can to visit with us. Ruthanne mentioned a couple of months ago that she might lose her internet, and about a week ago I did send her a test email and she did not reply, so am guessing that means she did lose her connection. I'm hoping to give her a call in the morning and will let you know if I'm able to get in touch. Just hope she's okay physically and that poor health is not the reason that she hasn't posted.
Thank you for the update on Michael and Christopher also. I read your yesterday's comment this morning but didn't have a chance to reply before going to church. I'm keeping them in my prayers, and also Catt's father. Of course I'm also anxious to hear an update on Mark.
Bystillwater, it's good hearing from you too and I hope Barb feels well soon from her dental trouble.
Hello to everyone else -- Dogstaff, Seven, Lulu, and anyone I might've missed. DO YOU KNOW WHAT TIME IT IS??? Sunday afternoon nap time!

Saying a prayer about that right now also, and will, as it comes to mind. Sorry to say I don't usually keep a written prayer list (I'd misplace it anyway ), but try and pray right away, as soon as I see a request, then later if it comes to mind. Praying that God will open doors for Chris to go to Teen Challenge if that is His will, and for Michelle too.

Hope you get some rest and feel better soon, Cindy.
A friend in Sunday School said that as a special treat for her birthday next month, she will go zip lining. And on her next birthday she will be...90!! I'm "only" 70 and I can't imagine zip lining. She has such a feisty spirit!
Hugs.

Thanks Lorrie! (except it's Michael, not Michelle, lol but I know their names can get confusing; I confused them all the time lol) I still haven't heard from Mark though.
I'd forgotten about Ruthanne possibly losing her internet, so thanks for reminding me of that! Hope you're able to talk to her!
Hope you get some rest and feel better soon, Cindy. A friend in Sunday School said that as a special treat for her birthday next month, she will go zip lining. And on her next birthday she will be...90!! I'm "only" 70 and I can't imagine zip lining. She has such a feisty spirit! Hugs. Wow! That's just amazing! I can't imagine it either!
I just posted an interesting and different theory about the star of Bethlehem if anyone's interested in that.

I thought you meant Michelle in the quote above about Christian rehab. It doesn't matter though - I prayed for all three of them this morning (and your other two also, just for good measure! Oh, and for you too Cindy, along with all our 'chatters').

Guess what, I got an email from Ruthanne this morning! She is doing okay, she just had a bunch of messages and had not seen my email until now. She said to tell everyone hello and it sounds like she's doing well. I'm still hoping to call her sometime this week, but I didn't today.
Going to go rest for awhile now, my foot is hurting....

Hubby found a turtle in our driveway this morning. It was pretty big; some type of water turtle. I called our animal shelter and asked if they would accept another turtle and the lady remembered me from awhile back when I brought the small box turtle in. She said to bring it in and they would give it to the same vet who rescues turtles. I feel so sorry for all the creatures displaced by the construction.
Another hot day. It was the first day of school for kids here.
