I can believe it. Young people today do not want to work, for the most part.
Our daughter is the manager of the Dollar tree, and several times she has gone to work, a big truck is ready to be unloaded by a 'crew' of workers, and there should be some cashiers....
And......Nope, just her.
Pray tell, what do you do in that case?
She has unloaded delivery trucks all by herself. She is not a BIG strong power lifter woman, She is basically petite Not to mention, managers have a whole different set of jobs they need to be doing... But with people needing to check out, truck to unload and nobody decided to turn up that day.
This has happened at least 2 times, and maybe 3 or more in the last couple of years.
She was able to finally coax, cajole, someone to come in to ring up customers, so she could unload the delivery truck but for a couple of hours.....:(
So yup! No longer surprises me!

I remember I when I was working the last job I worked at, things were going well for years then suddenly they were not going well, I went from feeling like I was moving forward to feeling like I was moving backward, and it was then that I quit work right away. I think people need to see a way forward to be motivated to work.

It is interesting Anna, my daughter is 48. She is sweet, funny, smart and the manager. But she says with the young kids that come to work ( many do but then don't stay).
She is very sweet, and may ask them to do something simple, and easy.... and yet, they just stand around.... not all of them, but many.
She asked one young guy yesterday, to take an empty cardboard box to the garbage right outside the back door... and he grouse:
"well, that's a long walk"!
Ahhh... no.... it would not be!
He looks to be about 20, maybe 21? But many of them are like that.... they are used to sitting and playing video games moving...not so much!

I think that also Barbra, that young people are used to sitting and doing video games. I have heard it said that is their reality more than the real world, at my age I don't understand that as well, as I think a younger person does. I remember years ago I went into some type dollar store and the manager was using a stop watch while standing next to the cashier and timing how fast she checked out the costumers, telling her to move as fast as possible. lol yeah that was years ago.
