Even with as little as I read or listen to concerning current events, I'm still aware there's a great deal of evil being perpetrated in this world and there's more every day. I've noticed too that the Lord seems to lead me to what His Word says about the evil in this world and/or what's going on, before I hear about it from someone or the news etc. It's like He prepares me for it.
A couple of years ago I came to the conclusion that when we sin in any way, that sin stays in this world somehow. Like when Cain killed Able, we're told: “The LORD said, “What have you done? Listen! Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground.” (Genesis 4:10) I don't want to get into all the verses that show the earth itself somehow retaining the sin that was committed now, it would take too long and be too much for others to read. Besides you guys know the Bible well so I'm sure you can figure it out for yourself. I think that the sin stays in the world and increases the world’s darkness, and the darkness that the unsaved live in. (not literally, but spiritually.) God speaks of the darkness of sin and of Satan and demons all through the Bible, and speaks of Himself, His Word and of us, as light. Therefore, I wasn't surprised to see that He used these judgments as a way of showing them what was happening spiritually: “Then the LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward the sky so that darkness will spread over Egypt—darkness that can be felt.” So Moses stretched out his hand toward the sky, and total darkness covered all Egypt for three days.” (Exodus 10:21–22) “The fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and his kingdom was plunged into darkness. Men gnawed their tongues in agony” (Revelation 16:10)
I think that at this time, the world is becoming darker and darker on a daily basis until it will finally be as evil as it was in the days of Noah when ... “The LORD saw how great man’s wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time.” (Genesis 6:5) I think that time will come at the exact same time that the very last Gentile that God has elected, has been saved. Then the Father will send Jesus to get us and we'll all be out of here and will be with the Lord forever! Praise God!!!!!
Realizing that sin stays here has also helped me not to sin (when I realize that what I'm about to do, think, or say is a sin) as I certainly don't want to add to the darkness. I want to add to the light instead! But one way or another we will each add to one or the other. Here's a few other scriptures that talk about this darkness:
“He sent darkness and made the land dark— for had they not rebelled against his words?” (Psalm 105:28)
“For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,” (Colossians 1:13)
And this is my favorite one as it speaks of our Lord's second coming. He's speaking to those who love Him and who have survived the Tribulation:
““Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you.” (Isaiah 60:1–2)
