I am thinking maybe a lot of people are stressed, fearful, confused, worried, etc
has turned out to be a very bizarre year so far.
We've gone from a deadly virus ( to start the year off)
to protests of the police killing a black man
that has led to riots
and now to taking over parts of cities.
So I am thinking, we might look at these things from a Biblical point of view, as to what is going on.
How to explain it should anyone ask what we think
and how should we react etc.
Also, it is very hard to even know for sure on a secular level what is 'real', what are lies,
what are conspiracies and so on.
And so there is a lot of insecurity ( waiting for the next shoe to drop so to speak, as we fear even more chaos and violence).
So where can a person turn to find truth and peace in the midst of a world going mad?
To start God's Word ( the Bible) is true
So in a world of deception and lies abounding that is the place to go in troubling times.
[smear:#44ae48]".....Let God be true though every one were a liar,...."
And as far as lies go
who is THE ultimate liar?
44 You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
Who are the 'you' this verse address....all who are not saved for sure
but that is not to say, even those converted, who can still sin ( and lie for example)
[smear:#8619e6]17 For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit,
and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh,
for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.
Actually, I think, that verse gives us a clue to how we Christians can begin to view incorrectly the craziness that is going on today....
anger, fear, depression etc etc.
is just waiting on our doorstep, if we don't get a grip from God's word.
Jesus said, in the book of John:
[smear:#286e39]17 Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.
Someone might say: Well the Bible is this old ancient book, how can it have any relevance to today...they did not have any of the tech advances we have today.
but people have NOT changed or advanced
Did they have hatred back them
etc. etc. etc.
But more importantly it is God's word
God knows the beginning from the end
and He had a lot to say about our times as well,
so it's wisdom is timeless, for all people for all times,
and therefore is compelling and up to date and current.
[smear:#af3b06]12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
[smear:#64e619]16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16,17[/smear:#e6192e:0]
Just my opinion, but a lot of what is going on today does not seem to be 'good work' ...and some of the many things scripture tells us, is about, love, salvation, forgiveness, how to live our lives etc.
But also, what is going on today.
Let's not get confused about 'good works' tho
[smear:#3a9034]"For by grace are ye saved through faith;
and that NOT OF YOURSELVES;
it is the gift of God:
NOT OF WORKS,
lest any man should boast"
So here is a verse written long ago, but is applicable for today:
Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth;
for the Lord has spoken:
“Children have I reared and brought up,
but they have rebelled against me.[/smear:#e6191f:0]
[smear:#e61925]5 ....Why will you continue to rebel?
The whole head is sick,
and the whole heart faint.
6 From the sole of the foot even to the head,
there is no soundness in it,
but bruises and sores
and raw wounds;
Your country lies desolate;
your cities are burned with fire;
Have we changed that much?
Have we evolved to peaceful people or does anger and rage rule at the drop of a hat?
Well more tomorrow
Done for today
