How do we know what we're told about covid is completely false? How do we know it's completely true? It's gotten to the point where no one knows what is really true anymore. We can't trust any of the media to tell us the truth, so we feel helpless and that makes most of us angry, as no one likes feeling helpless. So each person decides for themselves what they think is true and what they think is right. I can't speak about the rest of the world, although I suspect it's true for everyone, but I feel that this is how it is for everyone in the US. That's why everything seems to turn into a fight. Since no one can prove that they are telling us the truth, people are now relying on their feelings and their personal experiences. That's a big problem because those are the two things that God tells us not to rely on and says that those who do so are "fools". But what are we to do? It's maddening, which is why fights break out, and why we're now experiencing riots.
It's why people are now deciding for themselves what gender they are without looking down their pants - in fact they say that has nothing to do with it. Again it's based on their feelings and experiences. It's not just gender, politics, or covid that this is happening with, it's happening with literally everything. The ONLY thing that people can be sure of any more is the Bible, but of course those who aren't saved don't believe that's true and so they continue to walk blindly through life.
Worst of all, the church (I mean the body of Christ, not a building) has been dragged into this mess and is going along with all the fighting. They're agreeing with others that they need to "fight for their rights" which as always been a big thing in America anyway. But they've forgotten that God tells us the opposite. God tells us to submit ourselves to Him and He will ultimately (not instantly) lift us up. He says we are not to fight against the people who try and harm us. Instead we're to pray for them and show them by our actions that we love them. We're told that God is the one that's in control, not the government - federal, state or local; not the president, not the weather, not viruses, not Satan or demons, or anything else but Him. So He tells us to not only be kind to those who harm us or try to do so, but to submit to all who are in authority over us. the only time we're told that we don't have to submit to them is if they tell us to do something, or not to do something, that's goes against God's will.
That's where people jump up and say that not letting us go to church is against God's Will. Well, yes it is in the same way that it's not His Will for someone to hit us or harm us in any way. But He does allow it. No one can prevent us from believing God's Word; no one can stop us from praying. If they try to tell us that we can't tell others the gospel, then we have to obey God and tell others anyway.
What about going to church though? If we look at the early church though, they were persecuted and not allowed to meet together openly - at least not unless they wanted to die. They didn't react by getting all up in arms about it, or by telling their government it wasn't fair or right etc. They simply went about meeting when and where they could do so without being caught. And they praised God and thanked Him whenever even two of them were able to be together, even just for a short time. The church today isn't being prevented from being together. Right now those who post on FH are here fellowshipping together. It happens everywhere: online in forums like this, on facebook and other social media; with things like "zoom" and other programs that allows people to meet together online; it's also happening when people see each other at the store or go to each others house or meet in each other's back yards, and many other ways I haven't mentioned.
One of my granddaughters got quite upset the other day because she badly wanted a friend to be able to come over and spend the night with her. She reasoned that because she was saved and trusted God to take care of her, that she didn't need to worry about the virus. That's not bad for an 11 year old. But I had to then explain that doing that would be "tempting God". it was just what Satan did to Jesus when He told Jesus to jump off the top of the temple. Tempting God isn't a good thing to do, as I'm sure you'd all agree. I had to explain that God most certainly would take care of us, and that He knows the time of our birth and death even before we're born. However, that doesn't mean that we should go jump off a cliff expecting Him to catch us somehow. God expects us to use common sense and also tells us to obey those who are in authority over us. For my granddaughter that meant not only the president and the governor of our state, and others in government, it also meant her pastor, and her parents and grandparents. She wasn't happy to hear that, but she did understand and was able to see how her thinking had twisted because she tried to make God's Word say what she wanted instead of accepting the truth.
I don't know.... tempers are flaring. They were even before covid 19, but they're worse then ever now. Frankly, I'm surprised that there haven't been more riots. There's something else we can thank the Lord for. Is all this a prelude to the rapture and then the tribulation? I think so, but even so I don't know if Jesus will come today, next month or 10 years from now. So I'm just going to keep on reading His Word and doing my best to apply it to my life so I can be the best Christian I can and hopefully bring glory to our Lord.
