Barbara, I'm glad that my sharing those accounts of fostering, helped you.that's so funny Barbara, because yesterday we broke every record there is for NH as far as weather goes. Three days ago it was winter, then day before Yesterday it was 68 and yesterday it was 70!!!! It felt like summer and was great! But, today it's back to winter for us. It's all of 38 now and that's the high. LOL Cindy, the weather has been so weird all over the nation, this year. Massive flooding in the Midwest and Midsouth. We are still under a flash flood warning. NW Indiana are having flooding all over, from the Kankakee to the Ohio rivers. Today it is not raining, but this is the first day in a week, it hasn't rained. I called my sister, who is in one of the counties that have declared a state of emergency, but apparently she is out of the flooding zone, because she's fine (thank goodness). My SIL is also well, but they are watching things closely, because they are situated in a flood zone.
Hey everyone!
Margie, thank you for the card! and Yes I had a great birthday. I took the day off and started out going to a donuts and coffee gathering at Ashlynns school. Great morning meeting other grandparents and parents and some of Ash's friends. then out to lunch with church family...then lazying around and looking forward to a 4 day weekend! the whole weekend was great! who is Ashlynn you ask? she is Matt's girlfriends daughter. We've known her all her life, she calls me Ginny! her mom Jess and Ash lived with us years ago while Jess was finished collage. She's a chef! Some of you might remember that....fast forward 4 years and there back! but this time Jess and Matt are dating. Grumpy and I spend a lot of time with Ash, or rather she spends a lot of her time with us...Church on Sundays and always out here in the Sanctuary with Ron and I. She's a great kid. She read to me tonite! :) she's 9....She and Jazzy get along most the time, but Ash is a tat jealous. so we're working through that. Jazzy is doing wonderful, well, as wonderful as she can. She's struggling in school but doing better then when she was! So she's improving! Jess is good with her, but Jazzy is testing Jess...Jazzy is 11 now, so that change in attitude is starting to rear it's ugly head! But she's still a good kid.
Ron's doing good, he's definitely aged, he's not quiet 100%. He has wicked good day, and gets a lot of stuff done, then has 1 or 2 days down hurting....Body wise...ankle, hips, his wrists some days...some new aches and pains... I'm still working, but not doing much. sit on my butt most days and read the news...once in a while I get something to do. Not sure what's gonna happen to the company. We were bought out by another company from India. We've lost a couple customers because we are not American owned any longer... I'm looking forward to moving...pray to sell our house and move out of California.
on a sad note, I've lost another Auntie. I didn't know her well. it's been years since I've seen her. But I did know her and have good memory's of her...She passed today. She was in her 80's and they thought she had the flu...she was in the hospital. my cousin said that family was there today visiting, and she passed. so that put me in prayer mod for the rest of the day...
then that school shooting in florida...talk about sad...
sending love your way...
Lulu, I keep praying that you can sell your house and get out of there, too! I've been praying for that, for years. Even before you decided to get out of dodge.
Hi y'all.... feel like I need to re-introduce myself, my postings have been so few and far between in recent months.
It's 2:40 a.m. and I can't sleep so thought it might be a good idea to get in here to Chat and catch up on what everybody's been doing and update you on what's happening here.
It's good reading what is going on in everyones' lives. Interesting that it's so cold to the west, but hot & humid here... predicted high for Saturday is 83 degrees, and might I remind you this is February!! Heaven help us when summer arrives!
Barb, that is so interesting (in a scary way) about the online gaming. Everybody knows it's a big thing, but I didn't realize the extent of it until reading your post (like, about all they can do such as building, growing things, etc.) the whole 'alternative world' deal - how disturbing.
I am glad you will be able to work with the children and agree with Cheryl that starting right off in Genesis sounds like a good place to begin, just reading the Bible together and discussing. You could take an approach like Dr. McGee on Thru the Bible, where you alternate between Old & New testaments so they also learn right off about Jesus and His ministry in the Gospels.
Well my news is that I have a new job. You all know I did the product demos at Costco from July through this past Monday, and then on Tuesday began working for the optometrist at Costco (although I heard about the position from an outside source)... two jobs AT Costco, but neither is working FOR Costco.
So far I am really enjoying this job SO much more than the first one! Although of course I am grateful for the first one and for the friends I made while working there. I learned a lot and got good experience, but it was painful to my back due to lifting the commercial equipment & pushing heavy carts, and tiring standing in one spot, hours at a time.
Anyway, the doctor is so nice and laid-back. He's been training me and it's enjoyable work (I was a medical office assistant anyway, back before the boys were born). Currently it's full time, but the previous receptionist had a baby and wants to come back part time, so in a couple more weeks she will return and we'll share the hours, which will be perfect!
We are still hoping and praying that a job opens up for John locally, so he won't have to continue traveling.
Well I could keep on talking, but need to TRY and get back to sleep in order to get up for work in a few hours.
Nighty night!
Lorrie, I sure do hope that John is able to find alternative employment. I am happy to know you are no longer doing the demo work, anymore. I knew that it would be hard on you, and as it turns out, it was. I'm glad you are enjoying your new job. I hope your summer temps won't be what you are predicting. That would be just too hot, even for me!
Hi everybody! No I haven't dropped off the face of the Earth! lol Still working at the retirement community. I don't know if I ever told you all but Stan retired a few years ago. He got tired of being home all the time so he got a part time job where I work making breakfast for a few of the residents. So we both work there now. Chelsea's doing well. Still teaching at the same school, middle school English. She signed the final paperwork today and by this time next week she will officially be certified to be a foster mom. She should be here in the next hour or so. We are having family card game night and it will be the 3 of us plus my sister and her husband. Even when I'm not around your all in my prayers. (((hugs))) Wow, Lee, you've been at the retirement community for a long time now. That's nice. And it's also nice that Stan also works there. I always loved it when a couple of times, I got Ed jobs, where I worked. It was fun working with him.
Glad to see that Chelsea is doing so well. I knew she would be a great teacher, and now a great foster Mom.
Family card game night sounds like fun!!
Had a big rainstorm with lots of wind until about noon here. Supposed to have hail but I never saw any. We delayed going to our son's house until noon when it cleared up. This afternoon has been bright and sunny. What a change! Good to hear from everyone. Have a good week. Hugs. I mentioned to Cindy about the flooding East of you. How's it where you are? You always seem to get what we have, first, so hoping that you didn't get flooding.
We are having a nice day, today weather-wise. It'll be around for a few days. And then back to the rain. But, Spring is right around the corner.

Family card game night sounds like fun. We had a Monopoly game day here lol. Your prayers are always appreciated, thank you! Lee if the opportunity presents itself, I would like to hear more about Chelsea's experiences as a foster mom. I was a foster child in at least several different foster homes, so I only have a young child's viewpoint, and even that, is only my experiences as I remember them.
It would be very interesting to me, to hear how a foster mom sees it.
Things like are they sad when the child moves on...to either another foster home, or their adopted parents....forever home ( in this life of course)?
Do they feel like they have taken on someone's else's problems?
Do they like/love the children?
Do they worry about discipline since the child may already have thoughts or feeling on non-worth....yet need discipline as well as care?
What problems do they run into with the state? etc. Barbara, I can answer some of those. My cousin was a foster care Mom, (may still be for all I know now lol) Yes, she loved the children that were sent to her and it broke her heart every time one would be sent back to their biological parent, especially since that parent was the person who either abused or neglected the child that got them placed in foster care in the first place. She got one little boy when he was just a baby. His mom badly neglected him and would burn him with cigarettes when he'd cry. The state eventually decided to give him back to her so she could try again, but she continued to abuse him and the abuse got worse. Within about 6 months he was back in my cousins care. Again after about a year passed and she'd again went through therapy and parenting classes etc, they gave him back to her. She abused him horribly again. He was a toddler by now but had been so horribly abused he wouldn't talk and was way behind developmentally as well. But each time, my cousins love would bring him around and he'd get better. And believe it or not, the stupid state again gave him back to his mother. By the next time my cousin got him back, everyone thought there'd be no way he'd ever overcome all the abuse he'd been through. I don't know how much she was able to help him this time as I moved and by then I didn't want to hear anymore. What was just as bad is that the same type of thing happened with all her foster children. She'd nurse them back to physical and mental health, and the state would return them to the parents and then sooner or later she'd get them back and have to start all over again. It was this that made me determined that I would never ever be a foster parent! I couldn't do it, because I would have packed those kids up and ran to another country if needed to keep them away from their parents! That's exactly what my cousin wanted to do too, but she knew she couldn't.
And yes, when they needed to be disciplined, she disciplined them. But she never, ever abused them. She treated those children exactly the same way she treated her own. She didn't worry about disciplining them because she always did it with love. I realize that some people don't think that you can spank a child and be loving at the same time, but you can. She never "hit" them or slapped them. When she did need to spank them, she was always very calm, and would explain to them why they were being disciplined and would tell them too that she loved them, but because she loved them, she couldn't allow them to continue to get away with acting the way they were. Then she'd give them a few swats on their bottoms and that was that. She never hit them hard (that's not necessary anyway). That's how my parents disciplined me and how her parents had disciplined her and I can tell you from personal experience that it really works.
As you know, my oldest daughter became a foster parent so she could have the little one that she was finally been able to adopt last year. She adores Maddie and since the first day they got her, Maddie has been part of our family. She hated it when she had to go see her biological parents, but now that she's adopted she no longer has to deal with that. She's gone from being a very sad and very emotionally messed up little girl to being a happy loving child. My daughter doesn't plan to foster any other children though. She only did it to get Maddie.
Hopefully Lee can add more to this and you'll see foster care from a different angle. I once e-mailed a Christian woman named Colleen, she was a foster child, her mother gave her away at the age of 3 years old, she never knew her father because her mother was raped. She went to a Christian home with a loving mother and dad. Her foster mother once saw that Colleen was being taken out to sea by a rip current and went to try to rescue her and then both of them were in trouble, she told me a miracle about that but I don't remember now what she said about that. Her dad loved her and took her hunting with him and also he grew roses to sell, always had pretty roses. When she was a teenager she met her real mom, it wasn't much of an event, her real mom had become a Christian and that is about all that was said between them, her real mother had other children but she did not fit in well with the family. She loved her foster parents as her real parents, one Christmas she spent all the money she had to buy a nice gift for her dad. Colleen also had a foster brother that she got along with well, but when that brother got married his children were verbally abusive to her foster mom and dad, and her foster brother died young. Colleen was to inherit her parents home and all they had but Colleen told me she was probably going to die before her parents did and it did seem like Colleen was in the process of dying. She stopped writing and I never heard from her again. She sounds like she was a very loving child and a loving adult. It's amazing what God can do with these little ones that have been so badly abused. It's easy to see when they're physically abused but the mental emotional abuse is harder to see, especially if the child is older and hides it well. All the foster kids I met loved their parents even though they abused them, which is why the older ones would hide the abuse I guess. Although some didn't even realize they'd been abused, they thought everything that had happened was "normal". Thankfully, they generally come to realize that it's not when they've been in a good loving home for awhile. Had a big rainstorm with lots of wind until about noon here. Supposed to have hail but I never saw any. We delayed going to our son's house until noon when it cleared up. This afternoon has been bright and sunny. What a change! Good to hear from everyone. Have a good week. Hugs. I'm glad you were finally able to go and enjoy time with your son. Our weather has continued to be crazy here... Lee if the opportunity presents itself, I would like to hear more about Chelsea's experiences as a foster mom. I was a foster child in at least several different foster homes, so I only have a young child's viewpoint, and even that, is only my experiences as I remember them.

What problems do they run into with the state? etc. Hi Barbara: As you know........there are different stories from all sorts of folks, who have fostered, or were fostered. I have two, that I know about (besides your story, that you shared many years ago) I attended Church with a lady and her husband, who had 2 boys of their own, but fostered children, as well. They had this little girl since she was an infant and she was then 5 years old. The mother was a drug addict, in rehab. She still had rights as far as the child was concerned, and my friend brought the child to her for visiting. One day she told me "Her Mom is out of rehab, so the child (no names) gets to go back to her Mom." The words...."gets to" stood out for me. Here was a child she raised from an infant and her Christian faith allowed her to release this child, as promised, when the time came. I had so much admiration for this woman's sacrifice. But, as it turns out, the mother actually went back to her old drug habits and the child was returned to my friend. She and her husband then started adoption proceedings and won.
The other story is some good, some bad. He is my cousin. As far as anyone is concerned, he will always be my cousin. He was taken in by my Aunt and Uncle, at the age of 4 years old. He couldn't walk or talk, and he had brain damage from severe abuse, caused by his biological parents. He was a twin. The parents only wanted one child and starved and beat my cousin, until the authorities stepped in and removed him from that house. My Aunt worked with my cousin, day and night, teaching him how to communicate and helping him learn to walk, by putting his feet on top of her own feet and showing him how to walk. After many years, they tried to adopt him, but instead were met with the threat of removal of my cousin, from their home, because they'd become too attached and the biological parents had the legal right to bar them from adopting him. He never did get adopted, but when he got to being legal age, he saved up his money and changed his last name. My Aunt and Uncle are with the Lord now, and my cousin is doing quite well, on his own, because of their care. He still has a few small issues, but I think he is a hero, because he overcame many hurdles in his life. And the Lord gave him two Angels to watch over him, until he could manage on his own. This account was told to me by my Grandmother. My Aunt confirmed the truth to it, but she didn't give herself any credit.
Sadly that seems to be the norm...the child getting well in foster care and then being given back to the abuser. It just breaks my heart. Your fist story reminds me of my cousin as she had to do that over and over again. (another reason I could never do it). We often hear about children being abused in foster care, and that does happen, and it happens too often sadly. But at the same time, we never hear about all the wonderful foster parents who give so much to their foster children and love them dearly. The only thing that does seem consistent is how bad the state is in how they handle these cases ...such as giving the children back when they shouldn't, and such as making it impossible for the child to be adopted by their foster parents, or at the very least making it a very long and hard process. Or even implying that if a foster parent loves the children then they shouldn't have them. They need their brains checked out.Cheryl, what a beautiful story of the power of love and what it can do in someone's life.
In chat, there is one man who when he was a child his family helped his neighbor to rape him. He is a Christian and loves the Lord. Just to read how he writes, he so humble, it seems like he drags himself low on the ground humble, he is such a witness of beauty and he doesn't know it. How very sad!Thank you all for your stories. I was especially helped Cheryl when you mentioned both foster children were not easily adopted.
It was Cindy who pointed that out to me. As a toddler...until almost 6 I could never understand why the foster parents kept giving me away.... But Cindy pointed out it might have been ( in part anyway) that I was not available to be adopted.
As soon as she wrote that, it all clicked in place, I had to sign my own adoption papers at the courthouse ( both bio and adopted mom were there) when I was 15.
It turns out the reason my bio mom did not put me up for adoption, ( besides the fact, she always kept hope she could have enough money to raise me) was that she did not want me to feel or believe she did not love me and just gave me away......
But that explanation did not come until I was an adult with children of my own....by then ( from a very young child point of view, I only saw, and believed, I was unlovable, and people gave me away, as a result).
I know now that was not necessarily the case, in all the foster homes, ( however in 2 homes it was tho ).
The other main problem, is, that point of view, made it a wee bit harder to think God ( my God and Father) wanted me, and would never give me away.
But of course, I know now, my Lord Jesus will never leave me nor forsake me. Barbara, I'm glad that my sharing those accounts of fostering, helped you.that's so funny Barbara, because yesterday we broke every record there is for NH as far as weather goes. Almost forgot.... Just so you know, I need to do our taxes one day this week. The sooner the better actually. So the day(s) I do that, I most likely won't be able to come here. So if I don't show up one day, you'll know why.

Thank you all so much, it helps to see things from the other side so to speak.
Well 2 good things.....we tried again going to church yesterday ( only I brought ear plugs for us both). Leonard also figured out that the loudest music is played at the very beginning for some odd reason?
Anyway, I am glad we went, the pastor gave a very good Bible study/sermon.
Tho it took a lot out of me, when I got home I got a tiny snack, and fell asleep and didn't wake up until Leonard said it was supper!
Then, this morning I had to watch my grandson Devon who is sick....so I read him some YA Christian fiction
and then he said to me,
would you read to me from the Bible?
Could we start at the beginning ( like you suggested eh Cheryl LOL)
So I read Genesis ch. 1....we talked a quite bit about it as we read....
Plus, he had I watched almost all of the latest post of Pastor J.D. Farag....about the effects of rock music....in fact our FH Daniel posted it, which is how I happened to watch it.
It really was amazing, I knew a lot about it already, but he had quotes from ALL the famous rockers, information about music and how we are wired for it
( God did that but for praise and worship....but of course satan wants to be worshiped also ....and young peoples brains even teen are greatly affected either good or bad with the help of music....
we all have a sin nature but music can play a part in changing cultural and moral and even spiritual values.....
It was just some seed for Devon to think about what he looks and listens to....I don't expect immediate change but he is a very deep thinker, while at the same time, wanting to be liked by peers.
But I was so blessed by our Lord by all these things. OH did I mention we got a new to us car...we have had it about 2 weeks or so now.

My daughter and her oldest son dropped by this afternoon for a visit. Her son had an appointment with an eye doctor in this area but there was a scheduling mix-up so the doctor wasn't there. It was good to see them.
Beautiful day here. I tried a new exercise class at our Senior Center and really enjoyed it. The 2 instructors I had at the Rec Center left to take full-time jobs. I tried the classes that their replacements led but both were just too fast paced for me. At my age I know I need to keep moving but there's a limit to how fast I can move!

I can't get over the fact that their music is so loud that you guys need ear plugs.... how do the rest of the people deal with that??? And why in the world does it need to be so loud? That's just so wrong in so many ways that I can't get my brain to deal with it. I'm sorry, but no matter how good everything else was, I couldn't go there. I'd be afraid that the loud music was an indicator of false teaching and/or becoming emergent at the very least. (Sorry, that didn't really make sense since emergent includes false teaching as well...) I'm glad you were able to get something out of it though. LOL Maybe they think the music has to be loud for God to hear it
That's so neat about your grandson and all you've been able to teach him lately. I know the Lord will use it and that he belongs to the Lord whether he knows it or not. So we can look forward to his salvation one day!
Yes, you told us about the car, and that's great! God is so good to us!

Well, if there had to be a mix up, at least you got a nice visit out of it! I'm glad you were able to find an exercise group that you enjoy too. It can be hard for folks our age to find just the right one as some are too slow and others too fast. I like to keep moving also, and after sitting most the day at my job, I do try to get up and walk every couple hours....When I get home I take Boy for our ! Usually it's a pretty good walk... Walking is good, and it helps give you a good excuse if you have a dog to walk or a baby to push in a stroller lol. Both generally get you a lot of attention too lol
I hate to ask again, but if the Lord brings me to your minds, could you guys say a prayer for me? I'm having more and more problems just standing much less walking and need to be able to do both. Please ask for healing for me ok?

Definitely praying for you....I did not know that you are also having problems standing too!!
You know there is a foot, ankle, lower leg strengthening ballet exercise ( one of many) that can be done sitting in a recliner.
It's simply to write the alphabet with either each foot or both at the same time.....
You can either leave your legs on the kneeler,
or lift you lower leg a little up as you write the alphabet.....
by the time you are done blood is flowing well, and it actually helps strengthen the feet, ankles and legs a little...
just a thought.
Well, I had to watch Devon (grandson) again and He wanted to read the Bible again. I don't know if or when this will happen again but I was very happy it happened 2 days in a row.

Most of my problems are in my legs and there are days where I can't walk or stand for any length of time, but it sounds like your legs are giving you more of a problem than just that. My prayers are on their way up for you, Sis.
LOL, Barbara, that exercise you described.......it wore me out, just reading what to do.
Lulu, awesome that there is rain in your area. Hopefully you will get some too, and I pray that there won't be mudslides.

Cindy...... getting some rain today...🌧.thunder even! ⛈In Lakewood though, not where I am.....Gardena....😢 Thank you so much Lulu! I hope you get the thunderstorm you like Lulu. I guess the weatherman doesn't know what's going to happen here, so ours says we're going to get rain, sleet, and snow tomorrow and then the same the next day with high winds. Think I'll pray so there won't be any damage done.... Definitely praying for you....I did not know that you are also having problems standing too!!

Well, I had to watch Devon (grandson) again and He wanted to read the Bible again. I don't know if or when this will happen again but I was very happy it happened 2 days in a row. yeah, it seems like I no longer have a "comfortable" position as it often even hurts to sit or recline. But then again, some days it's more like my old normal and I'm ok when I sit or recline. Honestly though, even though I do hurt sitting now days, it's not as bad as when I'm standing so I shouldn't complain as it could be a lot worse. I'll give the exercise a try as it might help to get some circulation going in my feet. The Raynauds has been especially bad this winter. Thank you for your prayers.
Does Devyn have his own bible yet? I ask because of him wanting you to read it to him and it reminded me that Elijah and Grace have informed me that they're now ready for more adult bibles lol. Elijah's bible is a "real bible", but has kid appropriate explanations, comments and questions in it. Gracie's is a child's bible, as she was only about 5 or 6 when I got that one for her. So she wants one like Elijah's and Elijah wants a grown up one lol. Then Jenn jumped into the conversation and told me she too needs a new bible as hers is falling apart. I didn't realize she was still using the one I bought her when she was about 16! Plus, the kids have a friend that comes over to see them daily and goes to church with them, and she really wants a bible too... so I've been praying and asking the Lord to provide a way that I can get them all one. I hate to ask again, but if the Lord brings me to your minds, could you guys say a prayer for me? I'm having more and more problems just standing much less walking and need to be able to do both. Please ask for healing for me ok? Cindy, please don't hesitate to ask us to pray. How would we, otherwise, know to pray specifically. I'm so sorry that you are going through this. Thanks Cheryl, I really appreciate it. I hate to ask for myself when so many other people have more serious needs. The problem really isn't with my legs so much as it's all caused by my back even though the pain goes into my legs. It seems like just about every organ and every part of my body is being affected by my lower back and the way everything has pushed down so hard. It kind of feels like I'm carrying around a couple hundred pounds in a sack around my waist all the time. That's not what the pain feels like, but rather what my body feels like that seems to cause the pain... I don't know how to explain it. It's weird. But I definitely appreciate the prayers, so thank you! good morning... nope no mudslides that I heard of. not enuff rain I think. but there could be more a coming. Cindy

Devon had an adult Bible but their room is a disaster area....no really....pile very high...everything on the floor and so he didn't know where his Bible was so asked for the use of mine.
It seems when Leonard took over to relieve me yesterday, Devon carried on reading Genesis to Leonard, I forget exactly where they ended ( Devon and I started at Genesis 1:1) but I do remember Leonard saying they talked about the various people and Leonard said for example about Methuselah living longer than any man.....I think Devon read beyond that. I think he may have been aiming for the flood....we had been talking about it the day before. I was telling Devon how people will try to disprove it, one thing they will say is there would not be enough room for every animal.
So I was telling him, Noah did not need to bring 100 different dogs, because God design everything to have enough variety so that 2 dogs could make big dogs, little dogs, black dogs, white dogs etc.
Also Noah did not have to bring full grown adults like giant elephants and giraffes...he could have brought babies etc etc.
So we had talked about it before even, and plus we have been reading a Young adolescence/ adult (YA) Christian fiction series by Jerry Jenkins about a young boy (who calls the Bible 'the King's book')
and it is a 'treasure' to the hero of the series..... it has inspired Devon
plus as I mentioned before, his favorite youtube favorite gamer ( the one with almost 9 million young followers) happened to be a Christian, who finally realized he had been giving 150 percent to his channel and very little to Jesus and the Bible etc.
That too has had its effect.
I know tho how very hard it is for kids today....the pressures are like nothing before.....who ever had video games, cell phones, music videos, etc etc. along with peer pressure having to do with superheros , pokemon , movies etc etc.
Still, I think my Lord may have His hand on Devon...tho Devon may veer this and way and that.....
it seems my God is perfectly capable to reel Devon back in.....
I would have never in a million years thought of the Lord using a youtube video gamer to do that LOL
I think satan felt so smug that he had all those 9 million plus kids locked in forever...but Jesus laughed in the devil's face.
Just like satan didn't understand the cross, he didn't know this super uber popular gamer kid actually loved the Lord tho he had gotten off the way for a time, and yet, God could use even that for good.

Another big rainstorm this morning. I made it to my car leaving exercise class and then it hit. It's clear now.
Supposed to have Bible study this afternoon. Usually don't if the weather has been bad because the former resident and her son who teaches the class live about an hour away.
The lady who was a resident here who was 100 years old died. In May she would have been 101.
Hope everyone has a good week. Hugs.

Yesterday (Wednesday) was the last day for that Bible study. The lady who was a former resident found that the drive back and forth was too much for her. Her son, who taught the class, said the drive was getting harder on him too. I don't blame them one bit. They were both going to a lot of extra time and trouble to hold the study. We wished them the best and told them maybe they could visit sometime if they were already in Ft. Worth for another reason. I'll miss them both.
Kind of warm day here. I finally got my old, old Bible in to be repaired by a man who lives nearby. I don't know why I put it off for so long. Years ago I dropped it and the front cover was torn half off.

Hi all,
Barbara, I've been doing that ankle exercise too! They opened an ice skating rink here and Chelsea and I went once, (we tried last night for the class but they were also having a free family night at the same time and it was way to crowded) but I've been trying to strengthen my ankles for the ice skating.
Well another week gone. Stan went to the doctor yesterday and she said he's doing well. Next month he has to go in and get his A1C test done to make sure its down like it should be. I went to the eye doctor and he said my eyes are very healthy I just can't see out of them. lol He did show me how my eyes see with my current glasses and how I'll see when I get the new ones. Boy what a difference! But then this prescription is 6 years old. I'm getting the new ones through zenni and with the frames, progressive lenses and the photochrome stuff that turns them dark in the sun then clears up indoors they cost, with shipping and handling, 98 dollars. I'm so glad I found that website years ago. Talking to Chelsea about my eyes I found out she has a student who is always breaking her glasses and the insurance wont pay for anymore for the next year. Chelsea told them about zenni optical and the other day the girl showed up in class with new glasses and the mom told Chels that they ended up getting glasses for all three kids for less then 50 bucks!
About the foster care stuff, I was reading all your stories and it seems thats the way it is most of the time. One thing though I know of two girls who were taken from their parents due to parents drug abuse. It was obvious how bad it was for them but the parents got their act together, got off the drugs, got their girls back and the two kids are doing better than ever. So there are good endings when the parents can get it together. I have no doubt Chelsea is going to be attached to whatever kids she gets. She's that way with her students. And she is getting a lot of support, not only from us but her friends and colleagues too. She's already got a buster seat, various sized clothes and shoes, a backpack, toys all kinds of stuff. lol
Although there are some really bad foster parents out there too. my ex sister in law was adopted by her foster parents and for the life of me I cannot figure out how these people became foster parents! I think it was a combination of look at me I'm such a good christian and for the money. My mom had went to their house with my brother and his wife. Stan and I were working so mom had Chelsea and Katie. Chelsea had ADD. There was a swing set in the backyard that the kids weren't allowed on. Chelsea got on it anyway. My mom got after Chelsea and was dealing with her the way we, the doctor, school counselor and therapist wanted her dealt with when she did wrong. My ex SIL's father decided he didn't like the way my mom was handling it so he grabbed Chelsea by the front of her shirt at the neck, yelled in her face while lifting his hand in a strike pose threatening to slap her across the face! My mom and brother got between them protecting Chelsea and then they left. Ex SIL's mother said her husband was in the right! Needless to say those people where never allowed anywhere near my children again. He was so lucky Stan or I weren't there. If Stan had been there no doubt that jerk would have ended up on the floor. This couple had adopted ex SIL and 3 or 4 of her half siblings and had countless foster kids. I could tell a lot more but you get the idea.
Anyway hope your all having a good day and you are always in my prayers.

On the last day of February, it snowed here all day. It was fun to walk outdoors when snow was falling. I took the dogs for separate long walks, they were able to walk where they wanted to off the trails because of the snow on the ground, they would not get thorns in their paws. I walked for about an hour and I was tired after that, but it was fun. I bought a pressure cooker today. I have never used a pressure cooker before. The shipping said it won't be here for 3 weeks, that is a long shipping time. Nice picture from work, Lulu. Lee, good to read about your daughter.

Wow, I was amazed when I saw all the posts! That's so neat!Yesterday (Wednesday) was the last day for that Bible study. Wow, that's a huge cutback! Why is that happening Lulu, do you know? I thought the economy was supposed to be getting better.... warmer this AM then yesterday...all the way up to 52 degrees! and IT FRIDAY! a Jazz of a Jazzy weekend also!..... Oh boy, I'm sure you'll have a good time with Jazzy! Will Ashland be with you too?I love that picture! That's so neat!!!!Hi all, Barbara, I've been doing that ankle exercise too! I feel badly that I didn't also say that there were good stories, as I heard those from my cousin too, it was just that the bad ones made me feel so bad for those little ones that there was no way I could have done it myself because I know I'd have died before allowing them to go back to the person who was hurting them. The story about the ex SIL's mother is incredible. Why in the world would you have a swing set and not let the kids play on it??? That's just sick. Thankfully I never met any bad foster parents but I heard enough to know they're out there. On the last day of February, it snowed here all day. It was fun to walk outdoors when snow was falling. (me and Bruce and Jenn and her hubby, Bob) My mom got one when my step dad had to have his teeth all pulled, so she cooked most meals in that for awhile and they were really good! Jenn said she had someone tell her that their meat came out tough in it, but they hadn't had it long. Knowing all the things my mom cooked in hers, I'm sure if they practice they'll find they can cook most anything and have it come out more tender than any other way of cooking. (that was the whole reason my mom used hers lol)Hi Lulu!Happy Sunday! Gotta get ready for church.....
Hope you had a wonderful day with the Lord and all your family! not too happy it's Monday, but I'll survive.... Yep, one of those days huh?
Well Bruce got the flu and missed work on Thursday and Friday. He still wasn't 100% on Saturday but was better. Both of my daughters and their families have all had it. Jenn's still in the middle of it though. So far so good for me. I may have a touch of it, but mostly I've just had a lot of pain in my back which is normal for me.
I may be absent the next day or so as I want to get our taxes done. I wanted to do them today but I'm just not up to it. So, hopefully tomorrow.
Hope you all are doing well. Love you!

Attachment DeletedWell it started back in 2015....it’s been slowly going down hill....then last year we were bought by a company out of India....SFO....they are HUGH in India.....we’ve lost several costumes because we are foreign owned now....people are quitting left and right, it’s just wicked slow and it’s just not looking good...I think that’s why we lost the Boeing contract also! Because we are foreign owned. SFO builds stuff for GM, and other class 1 and class 2 products.....we’ve been mostly class 3....the classes are the level of products, Medical or space are class 2 and 3.....phones and GM products are class 1 or 2.... Attachment DeletedPrayers for your family!
