Last evening in chat Abigayle posted a picture of her sickly looking kitten and said the kitten had kidney and liver disease, she asked us all to pray for the kitten to be healed and tonight she said that the kitten was healed, so now she has a healthy white kitten with blue eyes. I wonder if there are still churches that call people to the front and pray for their healing. I know there used to be churches like that but I don't know if all churches have changed, would that be called seeker friendly churches. Barbra people in India are begging pastor Paul Begley to come back to their country and preach because the last time he was there 20 years ago, 3000 people gave their lives to the Lord. Paul asked people to say a prayer about going to India, he does not want to travel there because he gets sick there from the heat and got ill there last time from the water, but he will go there for a revival if he knows if it is the Lord's will that he goes. I don't know what area he goes to.

That's wonderful your friends kitten was healed! I'm so happy for her. I know of a number of churches in my area that have people come to the front to be prayed over. In fact, that happens regularly at the church my daughter goes to. They've had many miraculous healings there too.

We finally got a new to us ( 20 year old) car after our old one died. The neat thing is we learned a little to have patience.....when Leonard first saw it was toooo much, too spendy so the lady selling relisted it for $500 less and then, when Leonard asked he about it a 2nd time and said, he 'almost' had enough, she asked what do you have? He told her and she said that was fine.
Plus, after being without hot water for 5 or more days...lost count.... the two owners of the electric company came.....
Good thing, it was a mystery for sure.... finally in order to get under our cottage, they had to open up a hole ( that had been opened sometime in the past and patched) in our floor.....
Then one guy goes down and we hear: "OH WOW!!!!!!!"
That did not sound good! Turns out the electrical wires had TOTALLY melted!!! He took photos even..... Sooooo I think that was probably good that they fixed it when they did.
Made me appreciate just how pampered I am......not hot water for almost a week......
But 200 years ago, I would have had to walk 2 blocks to the river, hauled it back, start a fire, in order to heat it!!!
So at least we had cold water plumbed to our cottage!!
And being without a car meant we took some walks ( a few blocks to the store).
Anna: I can feel for poor pastor Paul Begley...I too suffer from too much heat.....I literally get sick...can eat, can't sleep, am just miserable but that is so wonderful he is willing to sacrifice, for the sake of the gospel, and for souls to be saved!!

Barbra we got to witness the answer to prayer in that you got a car, now Leonard can resume his schedule of helping others, what a blessing and fast also.
I missed a good Bible study just now because I had to cook dinner, beef, noodles and string beans. But there is an archive so I can listen soon, sometimes I during a Bible study and I heard the teacher say, " Stay awake, don't fall asleep." Well, we all are glad that the talks are archived.

I'm so glad you have a car again, that's great! I'm amazed again at how the Lord our God protects us though! You guys are lucky to alive the way those wires melted, because that should have started a fire that would have burned hot and fast. I wouldn't be surprised if they want the other apartments checked as well unless they're newer. I'm just thanking the Lord that He kept you guys safe! You are right Cindy, the only reason I am thinking it didn't start a fire may have been because these close to 100 yea old cottages sit almost completely on sand....the electrician had to basically crawl on his belly to get to the area he needed to see and work on. Plus, its been raining cats and dogs...so the sand is cold and wet....don't know if that would have helped or hindered a fire?
In any case, the Lord really protected us. It's kind of funny because, 'part' of my prayer before falling asleep, is that the Lord will put a protective hedge around our cottage, and in fact all the cottages, and Seaside, itself.... I never realized how the Lord would answer that part of the prayer!!
Because for sure the electricians were stunned!!! The wires were totally melted!!

Yesterday the Lord opened my eyes, yet again, to how He is in control.
This may be a bit long, but it had such an impact on me. One of the things, I have felt pretty much defeated is about (our) young kids and video games.
I don't know if you all know just how sophisticated these games are now?
As you play you are basically in another world....you can do all sorts of things, build, grow things, take care of animals, interact with other people etc. etc.
but this 'world' also does all manner of things, there are enemies, friends, wars, spiritual dimensions and entities etc etc etc etc.
All this to say they are extremely 'addictive' and how can young children have any chance?
So our 10 year old grandson, who has a 'bit' of interest in the Lord......but however, is entrenched in videos.
He has his own 'channel' ...he plays video games, acts them out, edits, uploads them, and often his friends ( who also have their own channels) come and role play with him on whatever he uploaded and visa versa.
AND
Additionally.....
add watching older gamers (teens to mid 20's) play on their channels....
these guys have millions ( Yes, that's right.....MILLIONS of people who follow them religiously)!!!!
We are not talking about an hour or two but hours lots of hours a day......
I have to be honest and say, I often feel defeated...like satan has won
yes my grandson and I are reading a good YA christian fiction novels.... maybe once a week we read a couple of short ( very short) chapters.....but in comparison to video games?
Soooooo .... tho I do not believe necessarily that what happened yesterday is total victory...
it showed me, that the Lord God can do things, even without .... me...gasp! . LOL
Our grandson came over and asked if he could show me a video of one of these older extremely popular gamers with subscribers in the millions!!!
I am sooooooooo glad I said yes!!!
Well, wow! The handsome young guy in his early 20's is obviously brokenhearted.
He starts off slowly saying something about: I know you guys know I am 'religious'.... so I think....ok......religious hummmmm
He then says yeah, I am a Christian, and I tried to live by God's values ok I think
Then He says, but for years now I gave EVERYTHING to my channel and gaming. He goes on to say, I really didn't truly know the Lord.
Further he says that devoting his life to video games was NOT good!! In fact, he became someone who was NOT good, someone he didn't even know.
Plus, he young wife had split up with him as a result. He was crying....
He said he was not going to be posting...he didn't know for how long..... because he was going to devote his life to the Lord, to be a servant of Jesus, read scripture etc etc etc.
he then put out a plea for all his fans to please not be bullying his wife, he said, this was not her fault, but his choice.
He went on to say if, and when, he came back, he was not going to be a Bible basher to his fans, but he was going to be a servant of the Lord, to truly know him and have a relationship with Him.
And so on.....you could have knock me over with a feather!!! Who knew? Our Lord can even use an addiction to video gaming and games, with a young man with million upon millions of followers, and speak!!!
Our grandson and I then had a conversation....part of which he asked if I might help him and our daughter's fiance's 2 youngest children with Bible studies.....
I am not actually counting on that happening...but it might
Any ideas just in case.....what should I start with? A plan? The are 8, 9, and 10 years old.

Wow, that's awesome, Barbara!! Where to start? At the beginning! Why? Because kids are inundated with the hideous notion that we evolved from monkeys. More so these days, than ever before. You have to start where God created man, to help them understand that God is GOD of everything and everyone. Then and only then, will they get the rest of the story. Otherwise they walk away with the line I hear SO much and detest it...."Well, all that happened a long time ago....."

At my online Bible study site, Michael is starting something new for children to have an adult friend to talk to, hopefully, that will have the children going to the internet less looking for answers to questions they have. It is well organized where the children and the adults do not give their real name and also the writing from the adults goes first to a mediator to read what the adult wrote and then it is forwarded to the child to read. He is just now getting volunteers to write to the children, some adults are so excited to be able to do this, so it all seems like it will be nice and work out well organized.

I checked the 'gamer' grandson showed us....this morning.
I wondered just exactly how many subscribed followers did he have?......
a 'famous' person like say....Alex Jones has approx 2 million subscribers
This young man had almost 9 million!!!! ( something like 8 million, 860 thousand)
And mind you, there are probably a LOT more who check his channel, but did not subscribe!
So imagine, just how many young people, the Lord may have spoken to ( or will yet) thru this young Christian!!!
He only JUST posted that video a few days ago and it already had well over 2 million views!!!!

I was listening to Amar or Imar (sp) Who preaches around the world and he said he went to a restaurant and all the young men at a table next to him were texting on their cellphones and seemed to be annoyed when the waitress asked them what they wanted to eat, and Imar thought to himself that if he wants to reach that generation he will have to be accessible by cell phone. I remember once Ron went to a mall in Omaha where my niece worked, her friends were there and were sitting on a bench texting each other on cell phones instead of talking to each other, her high school boyfriend was there also, now she has finished college for graphic design and is married to that boyfriend. Time seems to be passing by quickly.

That's amazing Barbara! It looks like some seeds have been planted for sure!
I've seen that too Marlene and it sickens me. Sorry, I won't stoop to that level, instead I ask them to put their electronic devices away when they're with me. Someone has to teach them how to actually communicate with people, because texting is not the same thing. It's just another way that Satan has entrapped people.

It's cold and dreary here. Saw a few snowflakes or ice pellets this morning, then just rain.
Went to a funeral yesterday for the husband of a friend in Sunday School. I never met him; he was ill for a long time. Friends of his spoke about his influence on their lives and it was good to hear testimonies like that.
My son-in-law has a new job in Alabama. I will really miss them but it's a great opportunity for him. He is already working there. Our daughter will wait to join him with their youngest boy. The 2 older kids will graduate from high school in May and then they will be off to college. My daughter will need to sell their property here.

It has been cold, rainy and cloudy here where I live also. The rain has been good for the trees, and it is almost March, the windy month and warmer, except for March 1st, every year it seems to be cold on March 1st. Cindy, I am glad that I am able reading Grace to you, that comes to my e-mail. Well I have had my one cup of coffee, which is all I like, just one cup in the morning, after that I am a tea lady.

We actually got our first little bit of snow....starting around 7 last night until about 11 ish. Somewhere between, 1/4" to maybe 1/3" The kids were very excited!! The got yesterday off, because the weatherman thought the snow would come earlier,
they also have today off.....
Normally back east, 1/4" would be laughable as a snow day and no school.....
however, since we are right on the ocean... and we get maybe 1-3 days of snow for the whole winter ( and sometimes no snow at all)....
maybe..... there is a snow plow....
if so, It would be for the highway only.....
thus all the streets etc. could be dangerous ( and nobody here know how to drive in snow.....unless they moved from a place that actually gets snow in the winter.

That's so sad Margie. You surely have a good attitude about it though. I'll certainly keep you in prayer.
Marlene, I thought at first you were talking about my granddaughter, Grace LOL. And I couldn't figure out what you meant. Then I finally got it! I love reading MacArthur. It really helps me grow a lot. I just wish I could grow faster and that I wouldn't go backwards so often. Sometimes it seems like for every step forward I take two backwards. I know it's not really true, but I hate it when I sin and it's usually my mouth that's the cause of it.

that's so funny Barbara, because yesterday we broke every record there is for NH as far as weather goes. Three days ago it was winter, then day before Yesterday it was 68 and yesterday it was 70!!!! It felt like summer and was great! But, today it's back to winter for us. It's all of 38 now and that's the high. LOL

Hey everyone!
Margie, thank you for the card! and Yes I had a great birthday. I took the day off and started out going to a donuts and coffee gathering at Ashlynns school. Great morning meeting other grandparents and parents and some of Ash's friends. then out to lunch with church family...then lazying around and looking forward to a 4 day weekend! the whole weekend was great! who is Ashlynn you ask? she is Matt's girlfriends daughter. We've known her all her life, she calls me Ginny! her mom Jess and Ash lived with us years ago while Jess was finished collage. She's a chef! Some of you might remember that....fast forward 4 years and there back! but this time Jess and Matt are dating. Grumpy and I spend a lot of time with Ash, or rather she spends a lot of her time with us...Church on Sundays and always out here in the Sanctuary with Ron and I. She's a great kid. She read to me tonite! :) she's 9....She and Jazzy get along most the time, but Ash is a tat jealous. so we're working through that. Jazzy is doing wonderful, well, as wonderful as she can. She's struggling in school but doing better then when she was! So she's improving! Jess is good with her, but Jazzy is testing Jess...Jazzy is 11 now, so that change in attitude is starting to rear it's ugly head! But she's still a good kid.
Ron's doing good, he's definitely aged, he's not quiet 100%. He has wicked good day, and gets a lot of stuff done, then has 1 or 2 days down hurting....Body wise...ankle, hips, his wrists some days...some new aches and pains... I'm still working, but not doing much. sit on my butt most days and read the news...once in a while I get something to do. Not sure what's gonna happen to the company. We were bought out by another company from India. We've lost a couple customers because we are not American owned any longer... I'm looking forward to moving...pray to sell our house and move out of California.
on a sad note, I've lost another Auntie. I didn't know her well. it's been years since I've seen her. But I did know her and have good memory's of her...She passed today. She was in her 80's and they thought she had the flu...she was in the hospital. my cousin said that family was there today visiting, and she passed. so that put me in prayer mod for the rest of the day...
then that school shooting in florida...talk about sad...
sending love your way...

Hi y'all.... feel like I need to re-introduce myself, my postings have been so few and far between in recent months.
It's 2:40 a.m. and I can't sleep so thought it might be a good idea to get in here to Chat and catch up on what everybody's been doing and update you on what's happening here.
It's good reading what is going on in everyones' lives. Interesting that it's so cold to the west, but hot & humid here... predicted high for Saturday is 83 degrees, and might I remind you this is February!! Heaven help us when summer arrives!
Barb, that is so interesting (in a scary way) about the online gaming. Everybody knows it's a big thing, but I didn't realize the extent of it until reading your post (like, about all they can do such as building, growing things, etc.) the whole 'alternative world' deal - how disturbing.
I am glad you will be able to work with the children and agree with Cheryl that starting right off in Genesis sounds like a good place to begin, just reading the Bible together and discussing. You could take an approach like Dr. McGee on Thru the Bible, where you alternate between Old & New testaments so they also learn right off about Jesus and His ministry in the Gospels.
Well my news is that I have a new job. You all know I did the product demos at Costco from July through this past Monday, and then on Tuesday began working for the optometrist at Costco (although I heard about the position from an outside source)... two jobs AT Costco, but neither is working FOR Costco.
So far I am really enjoying this job SO much more than the first one! Although of course I am grateful for the first one and for the friends I made while working there. I learned a lot and got good experience, but it was painful to my back due to lifting the commercial equipment & pushing heavy carts, and tiring standing in one spot, hours at a time.
Anyway, the doctor is so nice and laid-back. He's been training me and it's enjoyable work (I was a medical office assistant anyway, back before the boys were born). Currently it's full time, but the previous receptionist had a baby and wants to come back part time, so in a couple more weeks she will return and we'll share the hours, which will be perfect!
We are still hoping and praying that a job opens up for John locally, so he won't have to continue traveling.
Well I could keep on talking, but need to TRY and get back to sleep in order to get up for work in a few hours.
Nighty night!

It's wonderful to hear from both of you, Lulu and Lorrie! It's been crazy here. After having a couple of beautiful days of 70 degrees, we went back to winter yesterday and got a couple of inches of snow! When I saw the snow I started laughing and told the Lord I loved His sense of humor! We're watching Elijah and Grace tonight so Jenn and Bob can go out on a date night to their church. So I have to get ready for that. Plus, before they come over, Bruce has his check up at the doctors. So it's going to be a busy day.Hey everyone!

That's wonderful about Ashlynn, I do remember her and her mom. I'm glad you all are able to be together for a time again. I'm sure Jazzy will be fine eventually. Don't ya just love that age? LOL. I'm sorry to hear that Ron's not back to 100% and I'll keep praying for him and of course for you and the rest of your family too. Please give him our love. That's sad about your Aunt too, but I'm glad you have good memories of her. I'll look forward to meeting everyone in heaven soon. Hi everybody! No I haven't dropped off the face of the Earth! lol
Still working at the retirement community. I don't know if I ever told you all but Stan retired a few years ago. He got tired of being home all the time so he got a part time job where I work making breakfast for a few of the residents. So we both work there now.
Chelsea's doing well. Still teaching at the same school, middle school English. She signed the final paperwork today and by this time next week she will officially be certified to be a foster mom. She should be here in the next hour or so. We are having family card game night and it will be the 3 of us plus my sister and her husband.
Even when I'm not around your all in my prayers. (((hugs)))

Lee if the opportunity presents itself, I would like to hear more about Chelsea's experiences as a foster mom. I was a foster child in at least several different foster homes, so I only have a young child's viewpoint, and even that, is only my experiences as I remember them.
It would be very interesting to me, to hear how a foster mom sees it.
Things like are they sad when the child moves on...to either another foster home, or their adopted parents....forever home ( in this life of course)?
Do they feel like they have taken on someone's else's problems?
Do they like/love the children?
Do they worry about discipline since the child may already have thoughts or feeling on non-worth....yet need discipline as well as care?
What problems do they run into with the state? etc.

I once e-mailed a Christian woman named Colleen, she was a foster child, her mother gave her away at the age of 3 years old, she never knew her father because her mother was raped. She went to a Christian home with a loving mother and dad. Her foster mother once saw that Colleen was being taken out to sea by a rip current and went to try to rescue her and then both of them were in trouble, she told me a miracle about that but I don't remember now what she said about that. Her dad loved her and took her hunting with him and also he grew roses to sell, always had pretty roses. When she was a teenager she met her real mom, it wasn't much of an event, her real mom had become a Christian and that is about all that was said between them, her real mother had other children but she did not fit in well with the family. She loved her foster parents as her real parents, one Christmas she spent all the money she had to buy a nice gift for her dad. Colleen also had a foster brother that she got along with well, but when that brother got married his children were verbally abusive to her foster mom and dad, and her foster brother died young. Colleen was to inherit her parents home and all they had but Colleen told me she was probably going to die before her parents did and it did seem like Colleen was in the process of dying. She stopped writing and I never heard from her again.

Had a big rainstorm with lots of wind until about noon here. Supposed to have hail but I never saw any. We delayed going to our son's house until noon when it cleared up. This afternoon has been bright and sunny. What a change!
Good to hear from everyone. Have a good week. Hugs.

What problems do they run into with the state? etc. Hi Barbara: As you know........there are different stories from all sorts of folks, who have fostered, or were fostered. I have two, that I know about (besides your story, that you shared many years ago) I attended Church with a lady and her husband, who had 2 boys of their own, but fostered children, as well. They had this little girl since she was an infant and she was then 5 years old. The mother was a drug addict, in rehab. She still had rights as far as the child was concerned, and my friend brought the child to her for visiting. One day she told me "Her Mom is out of rehab, so the child (no names) gets to go back to her Mom." The words...."gets to" stood out for me. Here was a child she raised from an infant and her Christian faith allowed her to release this child, as promised, when the time came. I had so much admiration for this woman's sacrifice. But, as it turns out, the mother actually went back to her old drug habits and the child was returned to my friend. She and her husband then started adoption proceedings and won.
The other story is some good, some bad. He is my cousin. As far as anyone is concerned, he will always be my cousin. He was taken in by my Aunt and Uncle, at the age of 4 years old. He couldn't walk or talk, and he had brain damage from severe abuse, caused by his biological parents. He was a twin. The parents only wanted one child and starved and beat my cousin, until the authorities stepped in and removed him from that house. My Aunt worked with my cousin, day and night, teaching him how to communicate and helping him learn to walk, by putting his feet on top of her own feet and showing him how to walk. After many years, they tried to adopt him, but instead were met with the threat of removal of my cousin, from their home, because they'd become too attached and the biological parents had the legal right to bar them from adopting him. He never did get adopted, but when he got to being legal age, he saved up his money and changed his last name. My Aunt and Uncle are with the Lord now, and my cousin is doing quite well, on his own, because of their care. He still has a few small issues, but I think he is a hero, because he overcame many hurdles in his life. And the Lord gave him two Angels to watch over him, until he could manage on his own. This account was told to me by my Grandmother. My Aunt confirmed the truth to it, but she didn't give herself any credit.

Cheryl, what a beautiful story of the power of love and what it can do in someone's life.
In chat, there is one man who when he was a child his family helped his neighbor to rape him. He is a Christian and loves the Lord. Just to read how he writes, he so humble, it seems like he drags himself low on the ground humble, he is such a witness of beauty and he doesn't know it.

Thank you all for your stories. I was especially helped Cheryl when you mentioned both foster children were not easily adopted.
It was Cindy who pointed that out to me. As a toddler...until almost 6 I could never understand why the foster parents kept giving me away.... But Cindy pointed out it might have been ( in part anyway) that I was not available to be adopted.
As soon as she wrote that, it all clicked in place, I had to sign my own adoption papers at the courthouse ( both bio and adopted mom were there) when I was 15.
It turns out the reason my bio mom did not put me up for adoption, ( besides the fact, she always kept hope she could have enough money to raise me) was that she did not want me to feel or believe she did not love me and just gave me away......
But that explanation did not come until I was an adult with children of my own....by then ( from a very young child point of view, I only saw, and believed, I was unlovable, and people gave me away, as a result).
I know now that was not necessarily the case, in all the foster homes, ( however in 2 homes it was tho ).
The other main problem, is, that point of view, made it a wee bit harder to think God ( my God and Father) wanted me, and would never give me away.
But of course, I know now, my Lord Jesus will never leave me nor forsake me.
