I miss hearing and seeing critters from the forest. Up north we saw them all the time. Deer, Bob Cats even, wild turkeys....
well yesterday was an interesting day at work...we have been going through many changes, for many years. Every time a new engineer comes in or there is a regime change, they all seem to get together and change things up for us pee-ons. the newest change are the production travelers. they travel with the jobs/kits through the shop and track whats done and by whom, the new ones are wicked bad, missing operations, confusing sequences, no guidance on what exactly a person is or should be doing next. that along with missing operations, makes for a guessing game. mistakes will be made! so in the aerospace department, where I am in process and final inspector...QC...we have five jobs/kits with tons of missing paper work, missing operations on travelers, and the worst, is missing traceability logs. these logs have part numbers, date code numbers and lots numbers of every part put on the boards... EVERY PART! thousands on some boards....well nothing...nada.....so Lulu when nuclear with a smile on the big wigs, and stopped production on all five jobs..man did they all scramble.....I should have what is needed for all five jobs this morning.... Wow! I can't even imagine that! I bet they were scrambling! It doesn't sound like you're a pee-on though LOL
Well the last 2 or 3 days we have been in the upper 70's....not supposed to last but it's been nice....that is summer temps for us!!! Not even Spring
Cindy: You said the vines were invading your bushes....are they bushes you really want to keep?
Because you could put salt down... but if that worries you because you are worried about the soil ph or something,
you could also pour boiling water from a tea kettle or pan/pot/bowl on them.....
or use vinegar and salt( to cut back on the salt)....
also you could try baking soda
or bleach,
or throw an old plastic shower curtain on them ( with mulch or mulch, rock or something to hold it down ( if you don't have one handy, then newspapers, or something to block the light ( an old sheet maybe?)
WD 40
Alcohol ( if you have any LOL)
dish soap ( probably diluted but if pesky maybe try full strength)
Anyway....I been watching Devon all week and will continue thru Fri. However......
Hossanah will find out today when she has to go to Troutdale for a month of training ( soooooo I am just guessing....but maybe even as early as Monday?)
Which means I will not only be watching 4 kids at times, but laundry, dishes, feed cats, checking backpacks for any school event etc etc.
But.....Hossanah said: I will pay you.....always always I have said no but this one time, I said.......OK LOL
I don't expect much money....but .....
since I am no longer cleaning the B & B
and
her birthday and Devon's etc. are coming up soon.....( June and July) and then son Michael and hubby in Aug
I thought, yeah, I will be able then to get them a birthday presents.
Oh Anna I looked up on a map.......and no we do not live near the ministry event :-(
thanks Barbara, I'd actually planned on using some of those things to get rid of them. I'm glad she's going to pay you for watching over the children. That should help you out some. What a mess Lulu and stressful for you in QC, what would have happened if you did not make things right; places of employment sure can get messed up. That's for sure. Bruce has been going through something similar where he works lately, trying to get the shops all cleaned up and organized.
I hope everyone has a good day today. I'm still pretty sore and am running behind, so need to get the bible study done now.

Awesome job, Lulu!! Way to go! Sometimes, to get people's attention we HAVE to go nuclear, to get the job done, and done right.
AHHHH, the country. Lulu, you won't know what to do with yourself, at first. The quiet is so quiet, that the crickets and bull frogs make a racket. You look up at the sky and because you don't have the city lights interfering in the dark sky, you can see millions of stars. And you feel like you can just reach up and touch the moon. There's nothing compared to country living........it's heaven on earth, as far as I'm concerned. No place I'd rather be, until the Lord comes to bring us Home.
People would ask me "where you going on vacation?" I'd say, "home". I'd see.... Them city folk just don't get it, y'all!

Attachment Deletedwell, if things don't get put right, with paper work and mostly that traceability log the source inspector from Boeing would have a hissy fit himself. and that's much much MUCH worse then me having a hissy fit. The source inspector for Boeing has been known to have temper tantrums... I've seen a couple in the two years I've been QC over the Aerospace department. He's just down right mean at times...but these boards go in space, it's like the people up front, the big wigs have stopped taking that seriously! and when mistakes are made, the assemblers and I would be held accountable.... so far I still have 4 jobs/kits on hold, they couldn't get there *blank* together in 8 hours, yet they expect the assemblers to get things built in 8 hours! it really gets frustrating at times...and this is one of'em! I did get two responses to the Email I sent out about stopping production....I got a Job well done!

I hear you Cheryl! When I had to give a speech at a conference in New York, I was staying in a hotel on something like the 29th floor! And that wasn't even near the top of it! You'd think it would be quiet being that high up, but it wasn't. All I could hear was the constant noise of traffic on the ground, including a lot of horns blaring, and planes going by overhead! And beneath those two noises was the constant murmur of voices, of people talking...not from inside the hotel but from outside! and yes, my windows were closed! I'd been living in New Hampshire for years when this happened so I wasn't used to the noise anymore and couldn't sleep at all that night. The noise never stopped either. It was just as loud at 2am as it was at 7pm and 8am! Not being able to sleep is probably why that was the worst conference I ever did too. I simply couldn't think anymore. All I wanted was to get home! well, if things don't get put right, with paper work and mostly that traceability log the source inspector from Boeing would have a hissy fit himself. and that's much much MUCH worse then me having a hissy fit. Very good Lulu!!!! I bet the Lord was really pleased too! Happy Thursday! We had rain all day yesterday and last night, but at least it's stopped for now. I'm glad you got your power back on. That can be frustrating. I remember one time when I had to get dressed in the dark. I went to work wearing my nursing clothes (white pants and a top with pockets), and was busy getting the morning meds ready when my boss stopped me and asked me if I was ok. I said yes, and was confused because I couldn't imagine why he'd ask such a thing. Well, then he gently pointed out that I had my pants on inside out! Funny, I told my grandkids about that just last weekend LOL.

I would hate living in a city.....arrrggghhh where we live we don't hear any planes ( except in the summer when a small company will take tourists for a helicopter ride and a few small bi-planes occasionally go by....but 9 mts out of the year...no planes. Of course there is no industry so no smoke etc.
Even... if.... there were it would all be blown inland by the wind off the ocean. But yeah, any car fumes are blown inland also.
We do hear seagulls tho, and crows and song birds.
We are back to cooling down....but not to bad, upper 50's and maybe low 60's.

We are back to cooling down....but not to bad, upper 50's and maybe low 60's. I hadn't thought of that, but we too see or hear a small plane flying low overhead. We have a company here that takes people up to see what the country looks like from above. Still, it's pretty rare for them to come near enough for us to see or hear them. It's more likely when we're in another town close by which is where the small airport is. we made it to another Friday! Amen LOL Yesterday was quite different for us. Night before last, My oldest daughter told me that Alissa, our 12 year old granddaughter, who's on tour doing concerts in Czechoslovakia, was sick. So we were all praying that she'd quickly get over whatever it was and be able to enjoy her tour and sing well. God blessed us with answering our prayers right away and she was feeling fine and able to do her solo the next day, which would have been yesterday. Then yesterday, Jenn called as she had to take her husband to the doctor, to see if we'd watch the kids. Of course we would LOL. After seeing the doctor, he had to get a chest xray, so I'm glad she brought them to us. Turned out that Bob has pneumonia, poor guy. He thought it was just his asthma getting worse, which it was, but it was also pneumonia. So now we're praying for him to get well, and that he won't lose his job because of his illness.
The kids had a great time while they were here though. Jenn had one of their friends, Isabella, with them when she dropped them all off. She's been here before and is a very sweet young lady. The kids spent most of their time outside. Elijah was flying his kite as it was quite windy, and the girls were climbing trees in the woods for the most part. Of course they played soccer and then soft ball and a few other things too, but always wound up back in the trees lol. We hadn't been expecting them so all we had that wasn't frozen was hotdogs, so that's what we made them for dinner. Actually Bruce cooked them all on the grill so I wouldn't have anything to wash even, since we used paper plates. The kids loved it and so did I LOL. The kids love being able to go outside without having to have an adult with them, since Bruce or I can just sit on the porch and watch them. Plus we don't have to worry about strangers or anything where we are. So they have a lot more freedom then they do at the apartments where they live. So it turned out to be a nice day for us all, even Bob since now he knows what's wrong and can take the antibiotics and get better.
Now it's time to go pay the bills, so I'd better get busy on the bible study and then get to that. Have a great day everyone!

Have a great weekend, everyone! It's supposed to finally be a nice one!
I loved reading up on everyone! I love reading what you do on your job, Lulu. I love hearing about the children in your life, Cindy. Ladies......fermenting things would kinda be something I maybe try, but to actually do it, other than what I did for Ed's garlic dills, I'd not trust myself with it. Now canning is a different story. Cindy, I don't even really know, for sure, where to start, to suggest a way to get rid of the vine problem. Vines are invasive and come back again, and again. But, the only thing I would think of is to keep pulling it up, cutting it off and eventually the vine won't return, but it takes a lot of attention. The first time you let it go, it takes over again. For instance....poison ivy won't grow in an area that is mowed often. It takes over where you don't bother with, and it flourishes.
Love reading about the nature that everyone experiences. I've seen deer twice, on my way to work, and one morning there was a wild turkey that thought he owned the road. I usually see a lot of wild turkey on my way down to my favorite fishing hole.
Did I ever congratulate your daughter, Barbara, for landing the promotion? Well, just to make sure congratulations!!

Good day, Cindy, I just now saw the post about free books at FirstLove Publications, so I got 5 books. I can't remember when I last ordered some books to read, so it will be nice to get the books and read through them. In chat, women were interested in talking about evil spirits too much and it was getting distracting to me but Michael gave a talk and told the women to stop doing that. Anyways, would like to read a book for a change.

Cheryl: How funny, You feel comfortable with canning ( I am almost positive I would reap botulism and kill myself) LOL
But fermenting seems a breeze and 'safe'...well waaaay safer for me then to try canning.
It seems like there is no room for error with canning, everything 'must' be sterilize....and that is not my best ha!
Whereas, I finally (after 7 or more ferments) poured 'boiling water' into my mason jars.
Previously I just ran hot water in them and/or put in also some vinegar, or some dish soap.....and I did not die. But I get the feeling one cannot be so laissze faire with canning....
So Hossanah will be leaving in about an hour :-(
Anne: I also took advantage of Cindy's recommendation of FirstLove Publications and ordered 5 also ( well 3 books, and 2 different tracts of 50 each).

That's what I figured Cheryl, and sadly that's exactly what I can't do, so my only recourse is to turn to the only one who can do something about it for me, and that's the Lord. So I'm asking Him to prevent them from taking over any more ground. Good day, Cindy, I just now saw the post about free books at FirstLove Publications, so I got 5 books. I could give you a list of some fantastic Christian fiction books that I bet you'd love and would surely keep your attention, but I won't lol. If you ever do want to check some out, I've shared about a lot of them in the forum about book, tv, and movie recommendations. Nice day here with sunshine! Had to do laundry but kept busy so it was OK. Hope everyone has a blessed Sunday. Hugs. It's laundry day for me today too. It never seems to end but at least there's not as much as there used to be when all 5 of my kids were at home!slept in and now having with my ol'man and with Mace staring me down for our morning walk...love his ears!

nice day thus far...weather is cool and sunny..soft breeze, and our Jasmine's are blooming...... I'm sure that was really frightening when it happened, but it sure does paint a funny picture of you guys cleaning everything up afterward! It reminds me of when my youngest son, Christopher, put a hot dog in the microwave without puncturing it first when he was about 9. the next thing I knew the microwave blew up and there was a small fire. We had to call the fire department even though we were able to put the fire out ourselves, as we had to be sure there wasn't any fire in the walls, and thankfully there wasn't. But boy was there a mess to clean up afterwards! But I doubt if it was as bad as your mess. We still joke about it to this day though. enjoying my quiet morning coffee I wonder if I'll get up early when I'm retired....just to enjoy the peacefulness of the mornings...I bet I will, especially when I'm in the country...love the bird songs... nice weekend. went out to dinner with Netty and Justin last nite...it was a good evening.... Glad you're enjoying your time Lulu. The weather here's been great, in the 60's and even up to 70. But now they're saying that on Wednesday it's going to be up to 90!!!!! That's insane, especially for here. We've barely started spring, and the lows at night are often around 32 still! So now I have to have Bruce put my AC in by tomorrow at least.

I have been listening to a video with some scientists who do not believe in global warming.....rather that the sun has more to do with weather....extremes. Since we are in a minimum ( the sun is )....the polar express ( I think that what they called in) has dipped way lower.....
which means, since it is more stretched out that when it is way up north.....
it has more dips, bends, fluctuations.....
meaning the temps will go from waaaay cold, to hot....depending on whether it is in a bend deeper to the south or one more north as it goes around the earth.
So we can expect more cold to hot, and back to cold....back and forth more extreme
but in general, over the years, tending more cooler....than hot....which is not to say, there won't be some extreme hots.
Sooooo yesterday was kind of strange. Hossanah left for Troutdale ( about 2 hours away....for her month's training)
She mentioned before she left that Devon would like me to read the book he and I have been reading. So I said to Leonard I will prob be back in an hour or so.
It was more....so....than an hour.... more like 6 plus hours.
Apparently, Vanessa, left her clothes at her boyfriends house....noooo not like that....LOL She went to his prom Sat. His mom is a hairdresser, and did Vanessa's hair ( so Vanessa changed at their home for the prom ( and came home right after prom), but .....she left her jeans etc. that she wore over in the afternoon, to get her hair done.
So as I was reading to devon, she goes to the door and says: Bye
I say: Wait!!! Where are you going?
To Napa to get my clothes she replies.
I ask when will you be back..... NOBODY told me or asked me about this!!!
She replies, I don't know when I will be back, because after going to Napa ( about an hour or more away more like 1 1/2 hours) I am going to a girlfriend's to study. sooooo it ended up she got back at nine at night!
Arrrgghhh. I was exactly nice about it...cuz I have asked repeatedly to be given some advance notice grrrhhhhh
And I cleaned etc while I was there,
as I did for an hour or more today!!
also Feed the kitties etc.
and will go over around 3 each afternoon, until Brian gets back with his children about 6 or 7 for supper.
So I have my work cut out for me.
Therefore, I better hustle to the Bible Study NOW!!!

Mace has a cute face. Oh, a pressure cooker blows up, I think that happens more often than people hear about. I always put twice as much water in the pressure cooker than I am supposed to, two cups instead of one cup of water, and even then there is not much water left, the most time I have had it on the heat is 17 minutes. Sounds like you will a busy bee for a month, Barbra. At my Bible study, we do talk about the sun and radiation and look at Bpearthwatch website. Some people suggest a person should wear a magnetic bracelet, I think I would see more people wearing those, but I think they are not easy to find to buy, someone said e bay has them. They said the bracelet would be good to wear if a person feels dizzy when driving by cell phone towers, or if they have to be close to one. What a day and age to be living in, so much happening in the news. I am glad I can just let Ron listen to most of it, otherwise, I might get jittery.

Lulu, funny that you mentioned a pressure cooker. You can also can with a water bath, instead of using pressure, but tomatoes really need the pressure method more so that most other veggies. But, pressure cookers and I have a healthy understanding. I won't leave them unattended and they won't explode. And I don't leave the kitchen, while I'm using it, because if that thing had ever exploded, it would have taken out my whole kitchen. And I read the directions. If they say don't go over 11 pounds of pressure, that thing doesn't go over 11 pounds of pressure. And I set my timer for the allotted time too. I love my pressure canner. It's great for making stews and sauces, and corned-beef and cabbage, but for those recipes, it's only because it's a VERY large canner and very heavy, so I can simmer a sauce for a long time, without having to worry about it scorching. I don't seal the lid down, for pressure for other things.
My Mom had an incident that I will probably never forget. I was a little kid, but some things you just need to remember. My Mom used the pressure cooker a LOT, and one day she had some green beans on the stove, but she was running late for work and needed the thing to cool down faster, and depressurize. (something you should NEVER do), she ran it under cold water and forced the lid open. That lid went flying out of her hands, over her shoulder, through the open door of the attached garage, and landed mangled in the middle of the garage floor, and yep.....BEANS ALL OVER THE KITCHEN. My sister and I just sat there, at the kitchen table like... ....
If the phrase "note to self" was a thing back then, I would have said "Note to self....don't EVER do that!" LOL

LOL, Barbara, I'm not afraid of canning BECAUSE of the sterilization involved. As you know, I'm a germaphobic, so I sterilize, even if it doesn't say to do so. And yes, you would see me sterilizing between every fermentation batch too. But, fermenting to me is spoiling the food. I see mold and you won't see me eating it. With Ed's pickles, I kept calling my sister-in-law and asking her, "Are you sure there supposed to be that muck on the top?" She said "Yes, just skim it off and recover the pot". <------ what I need there is a green guy, 'bout to throw up, LOL<-----
So, when Ed tried the pickles, and said he liked them, I had to eat some of it too. I really can't stand dills, but I figure if I poisoned my poor unsuspecting husband, then I was going to eat them as well. I guess they were alright....we survived it. OH, and they were my home grown pickles too. I had tons of them. Had to finally can the rest of them, because I trusted that more than the fermenting. But, as a hot water bath, not pressure. Pressure canning pickles, cooks them too much and makes them soft. Found THAT out the hard way.

Oh boy, it sure does sound like you have your work cut out for you. I sympathize with you and hope things get better as time goes on!Mace has a cute face.
They have those bracelets on Amazon and just about anywhere else. I see them all the time, so it wouldn't surprise me if they had them on ebay too or even craigs list lol.
I guess so! Definitely not a good thing to do LOLLOL, Barbara, I'm not afraid of canning BECAUSE of the sterilization involved.
LOL Sounds disgusting too! Hope you're having a good day Lulu! And everyone else too! I'm off to finish my laundry and everything else I didn't get to yesterday

Well, you are not 'suppose' to get mold in your ferment.... it could happen, but its not dangerous I have read, and some do skim it off, others throw it out...if.....that happens.....
No mold for me. Probiotics are often called "good" or "helpful" bacteria because they help keep your gut healthy. Probiotics are live microorganisms that may be able to help prevent and treat some illnesses. Promoting a healthy digestive tract and a healthy immune system are their most widely studied benefits at this time. Are you getting enough probiotic-rich foods in your diet? The chances are you're probably not. Probiotic foods are essential for your digestive health.
Of course sauerkraut is the best know fermented food....but like I said you can do it with almost any food.
Talking about pressure cookers reminded me of a slightly different, but funny ( after the fact) thing that happened to my mom.
She was making a BIG pot of soup....it reminded me of the 'New England' dinners they cooked all day long back then.
Anyway, she had spent a lot of time and effort on it.
When somehow, the family parakeet "Pettie', decided to somehow get out of his cage, and take a little fly into the kitchen..... and then.... He somehow plopped into her soup pot!!!
Was she ever mad!! He did not die ( tho I think she thought about it!!!)
Instead she fished him out, and threw out the whole pot of soup of course.....talk about spoiled food.....feathers and what not in it! LOL Of course, years later she laugh about it ( and Petie went on to live a very long ripe old age)!
Maybe every pet bird needs a soup bath to live a looong life?
We've been praying for Bruce and Cindy!

Cindy, is Bob on an asthma/allergy regimen? As I have said in the past, my doc has me on my steroid inhaler twice a day, and I take 2 Allegra daily.. which REALLY helps. He said he realizes the bottle says one a day, but it is safe to take two. As long as it isn't the Allegra D. (bad on heart)
Lulu, are you and Ron excited for the move? I know its all in Gods hands.. us too. I'm not sure we will make the full 6years.. I am totally giving it to Him and trying to pray all the time over everything. I am just ready for a change of pace. But I really want the Lord to guide us every step of the way
I am looking forward to being a grandma.. pretty exciting :) I hope Megan knows we are here to help..
wow lulu! way to set people straight! where we are moving to a place like that lulu.. no traffic, no random people walking around.. close church community.

Good morning - I was popping in to see if there's a morning update on Bruce since Cindy updated her Facebook thread last night.
I'm off work today but have 100 things to do. I set a timer and have to get "back at it" in a couple more minutes, but will check in later.
Love to everyone.
