We're back to more winter-like weather here. Drizzling rain off and on.
I got everything unpacked so now all I have to do is put our pictures on shelves. At last!
I'm meeting new people and I'm really enjoying living here.
Hope everyone has a good weekend. Hugs.

Hello to my Fresh-Hope family. I know it's been a long time, and I'm sorry for that. :( For those who have been praying for me, thank you. I'm in a very sad time in my life and I need the people who know me best, so I came back to the only place I feel safe. I wanted to write more, and will later. I just wanted to say hello to all of you and tell you that I've missed you.

It rained all night here, which was nice and what a nice surprise to see that it snowed in the mountains. The Lord gives beautiful surprises, like to see the snow on the mountains, when I was not expecting that.
Cheryl, sorry for your loss, saying prayers for you. It is nice to see your lovely picture and I look forward to reading what you write here.
Margie, I am glad you are happy living where you do now and it is always nice to meet new friendly people.

Hello, again. Thank you for the warm welcome. I've wanted to come back for a while, but I just didn't. And Ed and I were very involved in the Presidential campaign. And I'm proud to say that Ed (at 70 years old), registered and voted for his first time in his life. He won't get to see the inauguration, which will take place on his own birthday, but said it's a pretty darn good birthday present. So, I will quietly celebrate my husband's 71st, and Mr. Trump's inauguration. In the last year of Ed's life, he was moving closer and closer to the Lord. Especially in the last months. And he was overjoyed to know that with Mr. Pence being the Vice President, that Christianity has a chance to be brought back to schools and the homes of our citizens. I also pray this to be so. Mr. Trump is a baby Christian, so Mr. Pence can teach him a lot. (yes, I am already well aware that most of you here, do not like our new President, but we've all managed to agree to disagree over the years. But, you must be happy that that other one is on the way out.) When I would speak to Ed, he actually joined the conversation, about what the Bible tells us about the Lord. Ed was saved a long time ago. I knew this, but he finally told me recently. But, he fell away for many years. I hold my husband up to the Lord and ask for mercy on my husband's soul. I am not equipped to say one way or the other, so I leave my husband to our Lord. This is about the extent of what I will say about Ed, or myself in an open forum, at this point. ("they" only know what I will let them know) No one knows the Ed that I know, except for all of you. And I aim to keep it that way. I've already spoken with Cindy, so when she gets here, and I can write in the private forums, I can talk to you all easier. But, I want to respond to a couple of your recent posts. Margie, I'm so happy for you, that you were able to sell your house so quickly! I know you've wanted to sell it for a few years now. I pray you are happy in your new environment, and look forward to hearing all about it. I looked up your house on a realty site and did you EVER have the most beautiful, classy home!! I hope you got every red cent you were asking, because it certainly was worth way more than that!! I think one room was bigger than my whole house! And your landscaping was immaculate. I feel ashamed, now, when I shared mine. Because yours and probably many others, here too, had even prettier landscaping. I wish you and others had shared more too. I love looking at what others do. Cindy shared quite a bit of hers, though, and it was SO pretty. Well, now that I think about it.......others did share theirs, and it was a lot of fun. OK, I'll shut up about it now, because the more I write, the more I remember, and I'm babbling just like I am with everyone lately. (more than usual) Well, on another subject, the weather has been pretty cold here too. Some days are tolerable, other days are down right cold. The rain finally stopped. Just north of me they are threatened with an ice storm. My younger sister said they were told it may arrive tonight. I haven't checked a weather map, yet, but will. Lulu and Ron, I'm so sorry to learn that you have had so much loss in your lives, lately. My prayers are with you, that you may find comfort, knowing that your loved ones are with our Lord. I know that doesn't help those of us, who are left behind to grieve, but because we are Christians, we trust in our Lord to sustain us and help us move forward. (I know that sounds so clinical, but you know what I'm trying to write to you. ) And thank you both for the phone call, last night. You gave me more than you know. I will write more in a private message to you, later. And Ron, I'm so sorry that you've gotten laid off. But, on the brighter side, like I said to you on the phone. Now you and Lulu can move where ever you want to!! a...hem... KENTUCKY!! There's a house right next door to me, for sale!! Lorrie, thank you for letting our FH family know about Ed. When he was hospitalized, I felt everyone's prayers for him. And thank you for updating for me, and for all the prayer chains you started, because prayer is really the only thing I need. God will take care of the rest. Leonard and Barbara, thank you for your prayers too. Anna, I love reading your posts. I've popped in here time and again, and tried to keep caught up on everyone. I love reading about you. Thank you for your prayers too. Cindy, I just read that you were sick during Christmas. I'm sorry. It's not good being sick at any time, but Christmas? I hope you are feeling better now. I'm probably forgetting a whole slew of folks. But, I will never forget you, Ruthanne. In these past couple of weeks, you have held my head above water. Thank you, my dear friend and sister. And when I get myself together, I do want to plan to come see you, like we talked about.

This year was also the first year that Ron and I voted. I am pleased that Mr Pence will be vice president, can't think of anyone I would rather have as vice president than him. I know about the changes that are taking place in the way people are thinking and being taught in the schools and colleges. Surprising changes that are happening fast. Well almost anything is fast for me as I wish things were like they were when I was young, but I have to keep up as best I can to understand changes.

Good Morning all! The weather's been so weird. We went from way below freezing to over 50, then last night it got down to 12, but is supposed to get up to 40 today. Crazy!
Jenn and her family were here yesterday and we had a great time as always. I'd bought the kids a package of "magic pens" that looked interesting, so we spent time playing with those. I was really glad I got them as they turned out to be really neat. You can write secret messages, and you can erase what you color or change the color to a different one, and all kinds of neat stuff with them.
They finally got the devotional book I got them for the new year. It's Josh McDowells family devotional and it's even better than I hoped it would be! What's really neat is that when they picked it up on Saturday, they read the first devotion and it covered a topic they'd been discussing with each other over breakfast that day! Then they called us after they got home last night, after they'd read the devotional and I guess God wanted to make sure they were paying attention because the devotional for yesterday was on the exact same topic that they discussed with the Pastor yesterday! I told them that I apparently did something right because it certainly appears that the Lord wants them reading it every day!Yeah it is true some of my clients coming down with the flu really bad I haven't seen that since winter of 2011 even I got sick on that all I did watch soft launch of Antenna TV on KTLA 5.1 LOL! hmmm, guess I'd better get my flu shot then, huh?Dear Leigh: I just was catching up on this thread and read about Cheryl's husband. I know it's been a long time, and I'm sorry for that. :( For those who have been praying for me, thank you. My brain just went blank Marlene, but I remember reading or maybe hearing on the news something about the area you live in. I think it was on the news... but I can't remember what it was. It wasn't anything bad, just interesting, especially since I knew it was in the area you live in...Cheryl, welcome home! looking forward to talking and keeping in tough here on FH! and ya, it's where I feel the safest also. today will be a hard day for me...it's our first Sunday knowing Kennedy is with the Lord. I have enjoyed the rain however....everything is clean and smells fresh. We are looking forward to more this coming week. just got back from my it's a beautiful morning. over cast but beautiful... 's I've been keeping you guys in prayer as well. It seems like many people have experienced the loss of loved ones recently. We're still waiting for the Memorial for Bruce's cousin/best friend, Mark, to happen. (he was a dear friend to me as well) I got fed up with waiting and asked his widow about it but got no answer. One of his brothers sent Bruce a message and told him she wasn't going to have one after all! Grrrrr! I told Bruce that if that was the case, then we'd host the memorial ourselves! So we've been planning it. Bruce wants to do it around Memorial Day so that more of Mark's friends will be able to come. So, it looks like that's what we're going to do. I couldn't believe his wife would pull something like this, but apparently it's the norm for her. That's ok though, even though everyone else may be angry with her, and I was too at first, I'll give her the benefit of the doubt, and invite her to the memorial too. She probably won't come since she's in Florida, but you never know....Hello, again. Thank you for the warm welcome. I've wanted to come back for a while, but I just didn't. Still have the tail end of it...this thing seems to hang on forever, but this time it's not just me, it's the same for everyone. Bruce and Jenn still have ti too.
Well, I'd better get busy and check the bible studies now. Hope you all have a great day today!

Good Morning all! I hope you all slept well last night. I got a lot done yesterday but still have some more chores to finish up today. But at least the laundry is done.
Oh, I've got to tell you a funny story about the cats. The other night when it turned real cold again and was 20 below 0, a couple of mice got in the house (though we didn't know it). That evening, all of a sudden we heard one of the cats slam into a kitchen cupboard like they'd been running and lost traction. They do that all the time so we just laughed. Then Rascal comes trotting out of the kitchen with something white in his mouth! I told Bruce that I thought it was a mouse though I wasn't sure...it could have been a toy. So he gets up and follows Rascal who trots right into the bathroom. Bruce saw that it was in fact a mouse, so he tells Rascal to give it to him - not at all expecting him to do so, since we haven't had the opportunity to train them to do that. Well, Rascal immediately drops the mouse right on Bruce's hand, but Bruce was so surprised that he didn't grab the mouse quick enough and it ran off between his legs! Chloe was watching all this and was behind Bruce, so she cornered the mouse next, at which point Bruce was able to grab it and put it outside. We're sitting in the living room talking about it and how good the cats have gotten, what a good job Angel did teaching them, and how glad we are that they don't ever actually kill the mice they catch. They just like to play with them. I went in my room to get ready for bed, and discovered both Rascal and Chloe had cornered a mouse in there too. So I yell for Bruce cause I don't want to touch the mouse LOL. He comes in but the cats let him go and the mouse is again running around. So Bruce goes back to the living room. We repeated that several more times, at which point Bruce got frustrated so he went in the living room and grabbed Angel who'd been sleeping on his chair, and brought her into the room! She saw the mouse right away, but instead of grabbing it, she just gave Rascal and Chloe her "Mama isn't happy" look and they both instantly dashed over to grab the mouse!!!! Rascal got in his mouth first, and this was literally within seconds of Bruce bringing Angel into my room LOL. So Bruce took it from Rascal and put that one outside and that was finally the end of the mouse chasing! But we had a good laugh over what Angel must have been communicating to the kittens LOL Like, "you'd better stop playing with that mouse and get it now, cause if I have to do it, you'll be sorry!" Hello my dear friends.I am sorry to be awol so long.Having heart and BP issues and am so tired all the time. I loved your mouse story Cindy, it was hilarious!!! And Angel mama cat brought the little ones up well!
Thanks for asking Ruth, I am up and down depending....as Leonard likes to say he ( well we) are 'old' we are in our 70's now, sooooo there you go.
Actually it seems like some days I am pretty good ( do a 'little' house work, garden a little, babysit grandchildren, etc etc.,
and then bam, not good, not good, pain, pills and sleep.
I really missed you Cheryl....it is so nice that both you and Ruthanne are back!!!

Cindy! lol Lulu and Kelley I just heard on the news that three rain storms are going to hit back to back the area where you live, so that will be a lot of rain. I will be going shopping soon so I do not have to go in a few days as we will have rain also and some roads will not be good for driving on. I still have a cough from that cold or flu that I had, sounds like a train wreck when I cough, but it is getting better. Good to read that you had a fun weekend Cindy and also that the mice are now gone. You have good cats and a good mom ma cat. The other day I looked under my mobile home since part of a skirting was blowing in the wind. I wondered if I was looking at a snake, I was standing so close and could not tell if I was looking at a snake or if it was insulation that an animal took off of the bottom of the mobile home, so later I went back to look and nothing was there, so that was a snake I was looking at and what a large snake, about 3 or 4 feet long. I have not seen it outside but I think the snake is eating mice, at least now I know to watch for the silver and black color snake. I hope everyone is feeling well, or well enough.

...as Leonard likes to say he ( well we) are 'old' we are in our 70's now, sooooo there you go.
We're not old... We're "seasoned." We're "mature." We're "experienced." LOL
Cheryl, what a blessing to have you back. I've thought of you many times and prayed for you.
When we first moved here 10 years ago we really used a house that size because the grandchildren were over a lot and often spent the night there. But they're all teenagers now and are so involved in activities that we don't see them much. Hubby finally hired a crew to mow and edge the lawn because he couldn't do it anymore. But the flower beds were too much for me as well. I'm 72 today and I'm slowing down a lot. My hubby has cerebral palsy and he loses his balance easily. At this retirement home I have help available 24 hours/day if either one of us should fall. I don't have the stamina or strength that I need.

Happy Birthday, Margie!! I didn't get a notification on FB, for your birthday and I didn't know! I just started a thread for you, though. I actually remembered how to do it! And thank you for the welcome back. ((hugs)) Thank you to everyone. I still think your home is/was very lovely. Speaking of flower beds. I still need to cut back the mums on the front of the house, but it's been raining so much, I can't get near them.

Cindy! lol Lulu and Kelley I just heard on the news that three rain storms are going to hit back to back the area where you live, so that will be a lot of rain. ~~~shudder~~~ a snake. I know I have them here, and actually did have a run-in with a snake. I have a big ol long story about that one. It attacked my BIRDS. OK, anything or anyone, who attacks my bluebirds will get a beating from me. And that's what this snake got that day. OK, was going to wait to tell it, but will forget to. So, Ed and I were hanging some sun blinds on our new deck and my birds started chirping something fierce. It was almost as if they were crying. I said, "Ed, the bluebirds sound like something is wrong!" Well, we were in a position where we really couldn't put things down, so he said, "In a minute, I'll go check them". I said NO. I dropped my end of the work (oops) and ran to see. The mom & dad were just going frantic! Like they were saying "Help! Help!". They were diving at the bird box and flying toward me and diving again and again. I was like......."what?! OH NO!!!" It's when I saw it. I big huge rat snake was shimmering up the telephone pole and before I could get Ed's attention, it swooped out and went right into the hole on the bird box, where there were 6 babies. I started screaming and crying and Ed ran to the garage to get the shovel. I grabbed a nearby broom and just starting batting the box to get the snake out of there. I was crying, "You get away from my babies......don't you hurt my babies!!" It wouldn't budge. (Lulu told me that I should have grabbed onto the snake and whipped it out of there. ew) But, right about the time, the side door of the box came open and snake and birds and nest all came tumbling out, Ed was there with the shovel and killed the snake. The snake was still trying to after the nest and when Ed knocked him away from it, it snapped at Ed. The nest had fallen upside down, and I didn't have any gloves on, so I carefully scooped up the babies and put them back in the box and closed the door. Ed carried off the snake, but the bluebirds were still so upset and would not go feed their babies, but they didn't leave them. So, I opened the door, so they could see them, and they sat on the gutter of our house for a long time, before they would come feed them. Within a few days, the birds fledged (only 5...don't know if the snake got the 6th one, or if the egg never hatched), but the blue birds have not built another nest in that box. I know they stay in there, for the cold weather, for warmth, but they won't use it for their young. So, I'm going to have to replace that box, or move it to another location. Anyway, that's my snake story. I don't remember how to post a picture, but I did get a picture of the snake.

But we had a good laugh over what Angel must have been communicating to the kittens LOL Like, "you'd better stop playing with that mouse and get it now, cause if I have to do it, you'll be sorry!" LOL, I liked your cat & mouse story. I could picture the whole thing going on. Only one thing though..........if a mouse has the nerve to come into MY house, he breathed his last breath! LOL He doesn't get let outside, so he can come right back inside. NOPE But, I still enjoyed your story, though.

Barbara, I'm sorry you are having so much pain issues, especially when it involves your grandbabies.

That seems like something interesting to check out. Yesterday I saw a short video of Gene Kelly dancing while on roller skates, that was something new, can't watch that old movie though unless I pay to watch it. I have been listening to the old science fiction theater radio talk shows, narrator Truman Bradley. I like to listen to them, you know those native inhabitants of the planet Mars, the Martians lol and stuff like that but I always end up lol, oh well I will try again to listen. I think I have about three hours of those radio talk shows.

Good Morning all. I picked that graphic because that's what it looks like outside at the moment. Really pretty!I loved your mouse story Cindy, it was hilarious!!! And Angel mama cat brought the little ones up well!

I really missed you Cheryl....it is so nice that both you and Ruthanne are back!!! I'm glad you enjoyed it Barbara. It's so much fun watching them interact with each other. I remember how very depressed Angel was after Sunny died. She never did anything, just laid next to Bruce and mourned for her brother. But when we brought Rascal and Chloe home, she perked right up. At first she pretended she didn't like them, lol, but we could tell she really did. I finally told her to stop faking it because she'd forget herself and go running to make sure they were OK if one of them cried. From that time on, she took over being their mama and she did a very good job of teaching them how to be a good cat. On the other hand, when Bruce puts them outside, he throws them as far as he can and as hard as he can, so it's doubtful that they survive that trip. He figures it's a warning to other mice not to come into the house. Well, guess I'd better get busy on the bible studies. See you all later!

I thought I was the only one who could not abide snakes. Tho I would not want a mouse in the house, ( people do keep them as pets), they at least can on occasion be sort of cute....whereas a snake could never be called cute in my book!!!

Have you met any interesting couples/Inquiring minds want to know.(my new catch phrase, lol,It pops into my mind every time I think of something I know nothing about). And then I just closed all my browser windows and laid in the bed and passed out. It's about the only way I can sleep right now. Just wear myself out, until my body gives out. Thank you for being there for me, my dear friend. You are a lot of fun to talk to and you are so smart and I'm still floored over your memory. I always thought I had a good memory, but wow, you remember everything, almost like photographic. My memory is not so good anymore. But, I wanted to make sure you knew that I didn't forget you.
