Trump: I’d be “Neutral” in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict
By Ahuva Balofsky February 18, 2016
In an effort to protect his credentials should he be elected president, Republican candidate Donald Trump told an audience at a town hall meeting in South Carolina Wednesday he would like to remain “neutral” on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, The Times of Israel reported.
Trump appeared in Charleston for the MSNBC-hosted event, where one meeting participant asked him what steps he would take to broker a deal between the two sides in the conflict. Trump responded that he would give it “one hell of a shot”, saying it would be “probably the toughest agreement of any kind to make.”
Host Joe Scarborough pressed Trump on the matter, asking which side was more to blame for the most recent failure to reach a compromise. Trump refused to take sides.
“You know, I don’t want to get into it, because … If I win, I don’t want to be in a position where I’m saying to you and the other side now says, ‘We don’t want Trump involved,’” Trump explained.
“Let me be sort of a neutral guy,” he continued. “A lot of people have gone down in flames trying to make that deal. So I don’t want to say whose fault is it. I don’t think it helps.”
Trump was also open to the possibility that the conflict might be unresolveable. “It’s possible [an agreement is] not makeable, because don’t forget it has to last — it’s wonderful to make it and it doesn’t work, but it has to last,” he said. “To make lasting peace there? Probably the toughest deal of all, but I’m going to give it a shot.”

Cruz Slams Trump’s “Neutrality” Over Israel-PA Peace
By Ahuva Balofsky February 22, 2016
“A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.” Proverbs 17:17
Texas senator and Republican presidential hopeful Ted Cruz derided Donald Trump for claiming “neutrality” on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, saying the matter is a clear case of right and wrong, Israel National News reported. Cruz went on to emphasize his own unwavering support for the Jewish State.
Last week, Cruz’s rival Trump told an MSNBC-hosted town hall meeting that he would like to remain “neutral” in order to maintain credibility with both sides as a potential peace negotiator, though he hinted Israel is justified in its actions against Palestinian terror and incitement. Cruz does not feel this is enough.
“America will stand unapologetically with the nation of Israel – if I am president – because I am not neutral between terrorists who are blowing up and murdering women and children, and the people of Israel who are trying to defend their nation,” Cruz told Fox News.
Nor is this the only time Cruz has condemned Trump’s position publicly. “This week, Donald Trump said on a TV program that he would be neutral between Israel and the Palestinians,” he told an audience at a televised town hall meeting at the College of Charleston last Wednesday. “I am not neutral between murderers and the innocent citizens murderers are targeting. I am not neutral at home or abroad between radical Islamic terrorists and the targets of their terror.”
Cruz noted the moral imperative in supporting Israel. “There is a difference between right and wrong. There is a difference between terrorists who strap [bombs with] nails around their chests and go into a mall to murder women and children and the armed forces protecting the innocents in Israel.”

Trump: As president, I can't take Israel's side
Chelsea Schilling
During a wildly animated GOP debate Thursday evening, GOP front-runner Donald Trump asserted that, as president, he cannot side with Israel in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict because doing so would “demean” Palestinians.
Trump’s comments brought an onslaught of criticism from Republican presidential candidates Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, both of whom vowed to stand by Israel.
CNN’s Wolf Blitzer moderated the debate, and Telemundo’s Maria Celeste Arraras, Salem talk-radio host Hugh Hewitt and CNN chief political correspondent Dana Bash asked questions of the candidates.
‘Terrorists’ and U.S. support for Israel
During the debate, Blitzer began a round of questions on foreign policy by addressing the conflict between the Palestinians and Israelis. He quoted Trump as having previously said, “Let me be sort of a neutral guy. I don’t want to say whose fault it is. I don’t think it helps.”
Blitzer then asked Trump, “How do you remain neutral when the U.S. considers Israel to be America’s closest ally in the Middle East?”
“Well, first of all I don’t think they do under President Obama, because I think he has treated Israel horribly,” began Trump. “Alright? I think he’s treated Israel horribly.”

Trump: I'm Israel's best friend
By Arutz Sheva North America 2/26/2016
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is dismissing remarks by other candidates that he could be detrimental to Israel and is declaring that he is “Israel's biggest friend”.
Trump's comments came in an interview with Israel Hayom's Boaz Bismuth, which was published on Friday and conducted this past week after his victory in Nevada.
In the interview, the billionaire dismissed Florida Senator Marco Rubio's assertion that he was not a supporter of Israel, stressing, "My friendship with Israel is stronger than any other candidate's.”
“I want to make one thing clear: I want to strike a peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians. It is what I aspire to do. Peace is possible, even if it is the most difficult agreement to achieve. As far as I understand, Israel is also interested in a peace deal. I'm not saying I'll succeed, or even that an agreement between Israel and the Palestinians is within reach, but I want to try. But in order for an agreement to happen, the Palestinians need to show interest. It's a little difficult to reach an agreement when the other side doesn't really want to talk to you,” said Trump, clarifying earlier comments that he would be “neutral” on the Israeli-Palestinian issue.
Those comments have garnered criticism from not only other Republican candidates but also from the leading Democratic candidate, Hillary Clinton, who said Trump had “missed the mark”.
"Don't get confused there in Israel: I am currently your biggest friend. My daughter is married to a Jew who is an enthusiastic Israel supporter, and I have taken part in many Israel Day parades. My friendship with Israel is very strong," stressed Trump.

Trump’s Pro-Russian Policy Threatens Israel
Cliff Kincaid — March 16, 2016
Donald J. Trump has received the endorsements of conservative icon Phyllis Schlafly and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Something doesn’t make sense here.
Schlafly has always been a realist on the matter of the aggressive foreign policy of the old Soviet Union and now Russia. On the other hand, as noted by Josh Rogin at Bloomberg View, Trump has a “pro-Russian foreign policy” that could have something to do with the businessman’s history of trying to do business in Russia.
Trump is threatening riots if he doesn’t get the Republican nomination. But rank-and-file conservatives who make up the Republican Party could themselves protest if Trump walks out of the Cleveland convention with the nomination. Indeed, they could walk out on Trump and back a third party conservative candidate. It’s not just Trump’s pro-Russian views. It’s how his support for Russia and Putin threatens Israel.
The Forward has run an article claiming that Trump has the strongest Jewish ties of all the GOP candidates. He has raised money for Jewish causes and members of his family are Jewish. But none of this can justify his support for Putin’s Russia. It is Russia that is backing Israel’s enemies in the region, most notably Iran.
Trump can’t have it both ways by supporting Russia while attacking Iran. The two regimes are engaged in a military alliance.

Trump: All Jews support Israel-Palestine 'deal'
By David Rosenberg 3/21/2016
...When pressed to lay out the framework for his policy vis-à-vis Israel, Trump instead replied that “a deal would be in Israel’s interests.” He then claimed that Jews were unanimous in their support of a final status agreement between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.
“I’ll tell you what,” Trump said, “I don’t know one Jewish person that doesn’t want to have a deal, a good deal, a proper deal, but a really good deal.”
When pressed by Stephanopoulos as to the contours of such a deal, including whether it would entail territorial concessions by Israel, Trump again avoided offering specifics.
“So what does a good deal look like,” asked Stephanopoulos, “will Israel have to give up some land?”
“I don’t know any Jewish people that don’t want to make one,” Trump responded. “They’d all love to see a deal made. Now, they want to have a good deal, not an Obama-type deal. They want to have a good deal made.”
