Thank you for preserving me this night from all perils and dangers of body and soul, and for bringing me safe to the beginning of this day.
As you have now wakened my body from sleep, so waken my soul from sin and worldly security. As you caused the light of day to shine in my physical eyes, so cause the light of your word and Holy Spirit to illuminate my heart.
Give me grace, as one of your children of light, to walk in holy obedience before your face today. Help me to keep faith and a clear conscience towards you, and towards all, in all my thoughts, words, and dealings.
Bless my work today, good Lord, that I may give you glory and strive for the good of others, adding comfort of my own soul and conscience in that day when I will make my final account to you. Amen. —Lewis Bayly

Come, Lord. I pray that your sweet influences would fill my mouth with your words, and that you would warm my heart with your love. Bring me to your mercy seat today, this morning, as you loose my tongue and enlarge my heart with your grace.
Yes, blessed Jesus, you will hear my voice in the morning. I will direct my prayers to you at the dawn of the day. I will send them up to heaven, and through the day, and all the day. I will praise you, God of my salvation, when you cause me to praise you with joyful lips.
Precious Spirit of all truth, glorify the Lord Jesus. Show me the things of Christ, and grant me daily fellowship and communion with the Father, and with his Son, Jesus Christ!
Let the sense of your freeness in salvation comfort my soul. Help me understand that there was no yoke upon you, Lord, except your own everlasting love. Be the sweet constraining yoke on my soul, to bind me to your love and to your service forever.
Be ever with me, Lord. And as Jesus promised, abide with me forever. May I never grieve you by whom my soul is sealed in Jesus to the day of eternal redemption. Amen. —

You are blessed, O Lord. You are the one who has fed and nourished me since I was young, and who gives food to all living things.
Fill our hearts now with joy and gladness. And since we always have enough, may we then abound to do every good work, in Christ Jesus our Lord, through whom glory, honor, and power be to you forever, amen.

Prayer for before you read your Bible each day: (I would suggest first asking forgiveness for any sins and then this prayer:
Lord, please remove any misconceptions I may have about You or what Your Word teaches & teach me the Truth from Your Word. Please always Guide me in Your Truth to what You would have me learn each day & help me apply it to my life. Please, Grow me up to spiritual maturity. Lord, as I gaze intently into Your Word, reveal the things in my life that need to be changed. Then grant me the grace to make those changes, so I can live more fully to Your glory. In Jesus' Name I pray. Amen.

As I rise from sleep I thank you, Holy Trinity. Through your great goodness and patience you were not angry with me, a sinner who fails to act.
You have not destroyed me in my sins, but have shown your love for humanity once again. When I was flat on my face in despair, you raised me to face the morning and to glorify your power.
Now enlighten my mind’s eye and open my mouth to study your Word and understand your commands. Help me to do your will and sing to you in heartfelt adoration and praise, to Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, now and forever, amen. —Basil of Caesarea

Sweet is the Word that gives us light, precious above gold and gems; it is to be desired above honey and the honeycomb (Ps 19:10).
How can this Word be anything other than desirable, Lord, since it has filled with light the mind which was buried in darkness? This Word has sharpened the light-bringing eyes of the soul.
Had it not been for the sun, night would have brooded over the universe—never mind the stars. In the same way, had we not known the Word, and been illuminated by him, we would be no different from turkeys that are fed and fattened in darkness, nourished only for death. Let us then admit the light, that we may admit you, God.
Let us admit the light, and become disciples of the Lord. Help us never to be oblivious to the truth. Help us put away all ignorance. Remove the darkness that obstructs, and let us contemplate the only true God as we raise our voices in this hymn of praise:
We greet you, O light! For in us, buried in darkness and hidden within the shadow of death, light has shone forth from heaven, purer than the sun, sweeter than life here below. That light is eternal life, and whoever takes part in that light, lives. Amen! —Clement of Alexandria

Lord God, our Creator, we praise you, not only for the power you displayed when you created the world out of nothing, but also for the love with which you continually hold your creation in caring hands. We praise you for the way you have demonstrated your sovereign will, not only through your creation, but also through the continuing re-creation of all things through your Son, Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all. We have come to add our praises to those who, down the centuries and all across the world, have seen your glory, recognized your purpose and responded to your love. Lord God, our Creator, we are only too well aware that our praises will never be worthy of you. We ask that you will receive the songs we sing, the prayers we offer and the commitment we make. By the power of the Holy Spirit, transform them into praise that brings you glory. We ask this through Jesus Christ, the one through whom we offer all our praises. Amen.

Father, you are greater than anything we can imagine, more wonderful than our deepest joy, more powerful than anything we have known. Yours is the authority that always intended to create. Yours is the sovereignty that holds all things in the palm of your hand. Yours is the love that continually seeks to bring everyone, everywhere, into the joy of perfect fellowship with you. Father, we adore you; we have come to lay our lives before you, as we declare we love you, our God. Father, we praise you for the demonstration of your authority, sovereignty and love in the life, death and resurrection of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

LOVE FOR A FALLEN WORLD
Father, we praise you that no matter the depth of our sin, your love can reach down and lift us up; no matter the hurt and pain we feel, your love holds us and heals us; no matter how far we wander from you and your will for our lives, your love still reaches out to find us and bring us home. We praise you that your love far exceeds our guilt; that though, in Christ’s death on the cross, you have made clear the enormity of our sin, you accept us as we are. You never allow us to become satisfied with the lives we live and the things we say and do, but you are always seeking to lift us up and make us new and make us whole. We praise you most for your utter determination that we should be free: free to choose, free to live, free to praise and free to serve. We praise you for the freedom that comes to us in Christ, our Saviour and Lord. Amen.

O Lord, my God! I thank Thee for Thy precious Word, the divine glass of all unseen and eternal realities. I thank Thee that I have in it the image of Thy Son, who is Thy image, and also, O wonderful grace! my image. I thank Thee that as I gaze on Him I may also see what I can be. O my Father! teach me rightly to understand what a blessing Thy Word can bring me. To Thy Son, when here on earth, it was the manifestation of Thy will, the communication of Thy life and strength, the fellowship with Thyself. In the acceptance and the surrender to Thy Word He was able to fulfil all Thy counsel. May Thy Word be all this to me too. Make it to me, each day afresh through the unction of the Holy Spirit, the Word proceeding from the mouth of God, the voice of Thy living presence speaking to me. May I feel with each word of Thine that it is God coming to impart to me somewhat of His own life. Teach me to keep it hidden in my heart as a divine seed, which in its own time will spring up and reproduce in me in divine reality the very life that was hid in it, the very thing which I at first only saw in it as a thought. Teach me above all, O my God, to find in it Him who is its center and substance, Himself the Eternal Word. Finding Him, and myself in Him, as my Head and Exemplar, I shall learn like Him to count Thy Word my food and my life. I ask this, O my God, in the name of our blessed Christ Jesus. Amen.

I especially like the "hidden in the heart" part. If the Holy Spirit and the Word were not in my heart I know I would be so lost, "deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked."
