Canada to Withdraw Fighter Jets from Iraq and Syria
By Ben Ariel 10/21/2015
Canada's prime minister-elect Justin Trudeau on Tuesday told President Barack Obama that Canadian fighter jets would withdraw from fighting the Islamic State (ISIS) group in Iraq and Syria, but gave no timeline, AFP reported.
"About an hour ago I spoke with President Obama," Trudeau told a press conference.
While Canada remains "a strong member of the coalition against ISIS," Trudeau said he made clear to the Obama "the commitments I have made around ending the combat mission."
Canada last year deployed CF-18 fighter jets to the region until March 2016, as well as about 70 special forces troops to train Kurds in northern Iraq.
During the election campaign, Trudeau pledged to bring home the fighter jets and end its combat mission. But he vowed to keep military trainers in place.
His new Liberal government will be "moving forward with our campaign commitments in a responsible fashion," Trudeau said, according to AFP.
"We want to ensure that the transition is done in an orderly fashion," he added.

Obama's first phone call to Trudeau should worry every Canadian
Ezra Levant Rebel Media October 22, 2015
On his first day as PM designate, Justin Trudeau naturally got a congratulatory call from President Obama.
That's standard protocol anyway, and besides that, many Obama campaign staffers had worked on Trudeau's campaign up in Canada.
Yet during this routine courtesy call, Justin Trudeau couldn't help himself:
He told Obama that he was going to pull Canada's forces out of the coalition against ISIS. (That had been one of his major campaign promises.)
Sure, Obama doesn't need our six fighter planes in the coalition, but Canada's participation was a signal of Western solidarity, and of our determination to help destroy the Nazis of our time.
But Trudeau just told the President of the United States that won't even allow that symbolic presence to continue. more www.therebel.media/obama_s_first_call_to_trudeau

Canadian PM vows to remain 'strong' partner in ISIS fight
By Arutz Sheva Staff 11/19/2015
Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau vowed on Thursday to remain a "strong" partner in the international fight against the Islamic State terror group, while indicating he would make no u-turn on pulling fighter jets out of Iraq and Syria.
"Canada will and must remain a strong member of the coalition," Trudeau said after a meeting with US President Barack Obama on the sidelines of a trade summit in Manila.
In line with a campaign pledge, the newly elected Trudeau has vowed to bring home Canadian warplanes deployed in Iraq and Syria, without setting a specific timeframe.
Instead Canada has said it will ramp up its commitment to training forces fighting the violent jihadist group, leaving an even greater proportion of the air campaign to the United States and other allies.

Ambrose hammers Trudeau on ISIS fight
Brian Lilley February 16, 2016
Conservative Party Leader Rona Ambrose took the fight against ISIS into the House of Commons on Tuesday, pressing the government on the pullout of Canada's six CF-18 fighter jets.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau waited until Parliament was in recess to announce his restructured plan for Canada's involvement in the fight against ISIS, a plan that is heavy on training but won't see Canada bombing targets or providing air support for Kurdish fighters on the ground.more www.therebel.media/watch_ambrose_hammers_trudeau_on_isis_fight
