I've been studying Ezekiel 38-39 the last few days and trying to figure out a timeline for that and Psalm 83, Isaiah 17, Jeremiah 19, Joel 3:2, etc. So I figured I'd post what I think is going to happen here. This isn't set in stone in my mind yet, it's just my first thoughts on it and this is new for me so please don't think I'm some kind of prophet cause I'm not! I'll explain how I came to my conclusions too, so what you're going to read will be kind of like being in my mind as I thought it through since I'm just going to copy what I wrote in my bible as I was thinking it. Scary thought huh?
If Israel will know that Jesus is God from that day on, (Ezekiel 39:22) then this must happen at the end of the Trib, wouldn't it? But then they'd be cleansing the land etc, during the millennium.....And we know that the Lord doesn't pour out His Spirit on them till the end of the Trib.... (Ezekiel 39:29) although I suppose you could say that He starts to pour out His Spirit on them after the abomination of desolation takes place, & that too is when they'll first know that Jesus is their God. But even if you say this happens mid way through the trib, that still only leaves 3 and a half years left for them to burn the weapons. So they'd be burning them for the first 3 and a half years of the millennium too.
Or, if this happens before the Trib starts, it would definitely cause Israel to remember her God and that would give her the entire trib to burn the weapons. It would be the starting place for her to eventually recognize Jesus at the mid point of the trib too. I guess you could say that if God defeats a huge enemy like this for Israel before the trib starts, you could say too that it would be the start of Him pouring out His Spirit on them. God always seems to do things slowly rather then all at once, so that would make sense. If it happens before the Trib, it would show them that they have even more enemies then they thought, & so give them good reason to want a treaty for future protection, as that's always been their pattern. They've always recognized that it was God who saved them, & then very shortly after that, turn to human devices to protect themselves rather then turning back to God. It generally just took one evil person "suggesting" it to them, & that's what the Antichrist will do.
Many say that both Psalm 83 (between Israel & her bordering nations: Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Egypt & Gaza) & Isaiah 17 (between Israel & Syria) have to happen before this war. Why couldn't the destruction of Damascus in Isaiah 17 & Jeremiah 19 be fulfilled during the Psalm 83 war? Also, before this happens, Israel will be divided (Joel 3:2) which is what the two-state solution is all about right now. There will probably be at least 1 year and possibly several between Psalm 83 and Ezekiel 38. What would a timeline look like then?
I think there'll be continuous wars between the arabs and Israel as there are now and that Israel will be forced (probably by the US among others) to divide her land supposedly to bring peace to the area. (Joel 3:2) That will fail of course & eventually the Psalm 83 war (between Israel & her bordering nations: Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Egypt & Gaza) will happen. (proving that dividing the land didn't bring peace!) I think Isaiah 17 & Jeremiah 19 will happen toward the end of the Psalm 83 war, or will perhaps end that war. This will enlarge Israel's borders when the IDF defeats them. I think the Ezekiel 38-39 war (between Russia, Turkey, Iran, Ethiopia, Sudan, Somalia, Libya, Algeria, Morrocco, Tunisia against Israel) will start about a year later & God will defeat them.
The rapture could happen before any of this, or possibly between the psalm 83 war and the Ezekiel 38-39 war or after it. Since Russia is already rearing her head and looking around wanting to enlarge her borders, that shows that these wars aren't very far off either!
So what do you all think? Am I on the right track or did I miss the train entirely?
