breaking news.....
UPPER WEST SIDE, NY – A blackout has hit parts of Manhattan. It seems to be centered around the Upper West Side. There are reports of people trapped in elevators and the MTA says that there are subway outages.
The outage comes 42-years to the day – almost to the hour – after the historic 1977 blackout that darkened the entire city.
Con Ed says that the power went out just before 7 p.m. and the outage is centered on the Upper West Side from Times Square up to 72nd Street.
The MTA quickly reported that subway lines were either stopped or delayed as a result of the outage and said that they were working Con Ed to get trains running.
